My chars are about half male, half female; depends on the role and how the race looks.
It's infrequent for me, probably my username clues them in that I'm male, but every so often my female chars get some inappropriate whispers. "You got the wrong guy" sends most of them away.
But it's not like WoW, where there's no visible username. My Blood Elf, Night Elf, & Goblin (!) girl chars got *constant* messaging, gifts of gold or mats, guys chasing me around offering to group and help fight monsters. Telling them the truth just made them mad "Why are you teasing me?!" or worse, so I just switched to saying "no thanks I've got this" and returning the gifts.
ZOS and Microsoft please be more proactive. A good game is also about players being decent people and mer. Not paragons of virtue, but treating others how you would like to be treated. But the company needs to set the guidelines and deal out disciplinary actions if there are breaches.
This one is sorry to hear about the harassments. It is NOT acceptable in any gaming platform. People paid hard earned money to enjoy this video game, not to be intimidated or harassed.
