Has anyone found purple/gold companion gear in the wild?

I've found VERY few green/blue companion gear pieces (around 5-6 in about 20 hours' worth of playtime) and seen no purple companion gear whatsoever. Does it only drop in certain places? Vet dungeons? Trials?

I found a purple resto staff when I trained Bastian in nFG1. So I guess dungeons?

Same experience here. In my many hours of goofing around and kleptomaniac-ing everything in sight, I never found a purple piece. I mostly stuck to overland shenanigans, but did poke around in both Public and Group Dungeons for a bit.

Guess when they said rare, they weren't kiddin!

Found purple bracers first time killing the giant troll in the public dungeon, the Abbey one.

Edit: I forgot his name. (Work has got me very tired lately.) He had a boss health bar, though, like a world boss might. It went across the whole top of the screen.

    Edit to the edit: Gloom-Tooth.

    From a mob? Boss? Chest?

Just got a purple girdle off a trash Bog Dog in Vunalk. (Update: also a blue ring and blue greaves.)

ETA: I am getting a Blackwood set piece off every single trash mob in this delve, including multiple purples. I think something's wrong with the drop rate here.

Nope. Spent a whole day on the PTS, got a blue resto staff, green sabatons and shield. If half decent armour is going to be this hard to get, perhaps I'll skip Blackwood. I don't need another trial I'll never do (still waiting for Kyne's Aegis, nobody in guild wants to do it) and if they're going to ruin companions like they ruined housing and jewellery with impossible to get materials... sigh.

I've not played around with this yet, but do you have the CP active for finding better equipment?

If so does it seem to affect gear for companions?

I have Treasure Hunter, but I haven’t found any companion gear in a chest. It’s all come off of mobs, and their loot isn’t affected by TH.

Gear really being a bit of concern early on. For example, Bastion is level 4, cannot use a sword and board build as I would like due to the fact that there is no gear dropping. Also, mobs are targeting both Bastion and Mirri first. Since their power is tied to gear and gear is a tough commodity to come by for Companions in the early stages, they die a lot.

Also, I don't feel like the Companion system can be properly tested when
    (a) you do not have the option to change their starting spec
    (b) their power is tied to gear they get
    (c) their responses when asked personal questions is non-existent or very low

I feel like you need to get a few of these things fixed so we can REALLY test them. I've taken both Mirri and Bastion on some doleman/delve runs and at this time, I could not tell you if they are going to be any good. No gear and frequent deaths makes it very hard to recommend or not to reccomend

Is there no box on pts that just gives players a pile of purple companion gear? I assumed this was a thing. If not, then every single test so far has been with sub optimal gear? That's a horrible way to test companions and won't give a good representation of their maximum potential.

You can purchase items for all the roles in white from vendors. (Not sure about jewelry.) That way you can have Bastian as a tank immediately.

there is purple gear on pts of every kind...

It's exactly the testing that needs to be done, because on live, no one's going to be starting out with a maxed companion. Every single person will be going through the leveling and gear-finding process.

That testing is great, but at some point, players will be decked out in purple gear with ideal traits. That sort of testing is also important to see what the maximum potential is at. All aspects need to be tested. If the gear is available for testing as mentioned above then that's fine. I had assumed from the first few posts that the only way to currently acquire purple gear is to grind it out.

On the topic of the grind, I'm not against it being difficult to acquire purple gear in game as long as it's not bound on acquire. Being able to buy it and also sell it to make a good bit of coin are interesting options, especially if they are exceptionally rare.

was about to post something similar. doing that delve was the first AND last time I saw any companion gear drops. got one purple companion piece, mace. 2 blues and a green.

though I'm not sure if the droprate in Vunalk is wrong as much as drop rates everywhere else are off. IMO.

    also this.

max potential is nice and good (though even at their max potential, companions are still far FAR too weak and dumb) but we absolutely need to test just how long and arduous it is to get them there and how they perform on the way there.

I tested my companions with them max level AND with perfect purple gear.

They still sucked in FG1 normal

For companion gear drop rates, I’d absolutely agree: Vunalk feels good. The drop rate on that should be raised elsewhere, if not exactly to Vunalk’s level then much closer to it.

For the non-companion gear, well, it would be a double-edged sword (I mean, “kiss-curse” or whatever) to get so much loot you’ve got to take an assistant pit stop every few rooms. I expect the delve would be packed with gold and mat farmers immediately.

Basic NPC vendors labeled Woodworkers, Tailors, Armorers, etc.

For example, I bought my gear from Fredevieve the Tailor, Marnub the Leatherworker, Thorianon the Woodworker, and I think also Semoa the Armorer in Elden Root.

So every average NPC crafter can craft companion gear,
but we as MASTER CRAFTERS with years of experience CANNOT?
Not to speak of violet or gold gear - but not even blue or green or plain white gear??
There is NO SENSE in this... Or will it be "Buy the next DLC for companion gear crafting"???

What about this, just let us use our already created toons as companions. With all the gear and skills we set for them already. I have 13 toons created and would love to go into a trial with 12 of them, it would open up a new aspect to the game.

BTW I actually like the direction of companions and would most use them only as range DPS. But at max stat/gear on PTS they appear to be doing about 3-5K DPS only. Which is fine for overland but only because my tank/dps can also do about 8K DPS. I'd like to see them do more DPS or be able to have more than one companion out at once.

If you start a template character, yes, you get a box of companion gear from white to purple for each play style.

Also, if you create as template character before you have gained the companions, then your companions will start at max level as well.

I’ve played multiple hours with both new companions and template companions, doing overland of all types, delves, public and group dungeons both at low levels and max levels. In that time I have gotten only *one* companion gear drop — blue medium armor for a template character who was already wearing template purple gear, received from a boss in a vet dungeon.

This is a ridiculously low drop rate, which I hope will be adjusted before the chapter goes live.

What I really want to see, though, is the ability to craft gear for our companions. If we have to learn new crafting traits, so be it, but not being able to craft gear for them really sucks.
