Invisible Miner

I am playing in the EU server and kept getting invisible "people" mining the ores just as I get to them, for 20 minutes I managed to get 2 ores for myself, that's it. Finally I managed to get a screenshot of this invisible miner just as it happened in front of me.

I'm giving up on this game now. I'll come back later and hope it's not as bad as it is now. The free 30 days was a waste of money, I should have bought the game later.

While the name indicates a bot, resources are inter-phased, so players not in your phase can pick up a resource you can see.
However the fact you CAN see his name is very suspicious.

I've no idea how they do it, but it happened wherever I went. People in the Zone also was annoyed. The first one I spotted I didn't screenshot, it didn't occur to me, but the name wasn't the same so obviously there's more than one.

    1) don't name and shame people, even if it's obvious they are cheating... big no no really...

    2) nice screenshot, I'd heard about it but never actualy seen it. As a crafter this does or could directly impact me so I'm kind of more worried about this then the bots that are reportedly cramming the dungeons
The statement "if you put enough monkeys behind enough typewriters... sooner or later one will produce the works of Shakespeare" has sadly been proven utterly wrong by the internet...

I put the name in because I wasn't sure if the screenshot would be shrunk or not so maybe it wouldn't be visible.

I saw this happen in the EP area on my level 7 orc. Someone appeared right by an ore mode, mined it, then dissapeared again. They also had a bot like random name. I wasn't fast enough to get a screenie though.

Edit: As to how does this affect other players - well I was about to go for that ore node and the bot got it. Bot gets ore and Rosie the orc doesn't. That's how it affects my game.

underground map hack - the toon is there - still visible -- just under the ground (so effectively invisible).

Also as Carnage pointed out: phased players are completely invisible i.e. no nameplate will ever be seen but they can still harvest the shared resource nodes.

Common hacks you will see for the farmer bots:

    Underground map hack
    Teleport map hack
    Speed hack

There is also a current resurgence in bots that use no obvious hacks but rather wander through the same area continuously harvesting whichever resource node is nearest. They stand out mostly due to the stop start movement they do every 10-15 feet they move.

edit: forgot to mention -- reporting does work -- it might feel frustrating because at times there seem to be so many of them...but the tide is slowly turning as evidenced by recent threads in Customer support.

Nothing new, I have screenshots just like that taken week before last. This is one type of 'invisi-bot' where they're actually detectable and you can hear the sounds of their harvesting and in places like Bleakrock see the snow being kicked up even though the character itself is entirely invisible. These bots are clearly present in the same phase as you but they've found a way to make the game client not render the character.

The 'immersionists' rabid hostility to nameplates means reporting these is a PITA as you have to be able to target and take a screenshot in the short time they're visible.

There is of course the alleged 'phase' explanation for the totally silent and undetectable 'botting', I've seen some cases of that where I saw a play 'vanish' as he entered a different phase and then seconds later the node he was clearly headed for disappears.

But I'm also see cases where I am able to begin harvesting them the node just vanishes which clearly wouldn't be possible with the 'phasing' explanation as I couldn't commence harvesting if another 'legit' player in another phase had already started it.

Whatever it is, it pissed me off. I cancelled the subscription and was happy it hadn't gone past the free days. I will definately come back later, but not after checking the forums to see the state of the game first lol

It's 'under the ground'. Literally, what bots are doing is going underground (just below surface) as the ESO megaserver doesn't check client location (you can tell tell the server you're flying through the air if you want too). That way people don't report them, as they don't notice 'invisible' players. Then they harvest nodes, as the megaserver doesn't check you are above ground when harvesting.

Wow, how do they actually get underground? Have they hacked the actual game?

You can turn off collision detection as it's client side rather than server side. But we shouldn't go into how on the forum as it's too sensitive.

It's just sad what they're doing. They're hurting the game they're trying to earn money from, and so they hurt themselves.

Ya im seeing a lot of this. been reporting as many as I can catch
Im also seeing a bunch above ground too
real funny when they run into walls and try to climb or try to go thru trees or over them
they spawn at wayshrines and have reported tracks - that way they can end the life and respawn again and do the same track
    - some are learning bots
hence they kinda run randomly and pick up nothing - at the moment

some move like "the flash" - see it a bunch of times
seems like as soon as someone finds the item appear and goes there - the bot moves in and snatches it before you can hit the key to take it

real annoying when I want to mine ore and wood, or plants or runes and you can't find a thing because as soon as the ore spawn they grab it

you don't think so... there are about 5 bots running the same tracks I was watching - three are all doing the same thing under the surface - 2 above (fast travelers) and if seen the ore disappear as fast as they appear - seeing their bots swords poke thru the ground

at this rate - no one will get anything because the bots get it before you get a chance

I wish I could put my free days I got left on hold, because right now, one can't enjoy the game as one is supposed to.
