How is ESO now?

I haven't logged on for more than a week. Hoping that there will be less bot/gold farmers when I come back...

Did any of the patches improve the game at all? How bad are the dungeons now? Can you actually walk in a dungeon and find the boss spawn to yourself?

You can't. Still the same. They are trying though - but it is just too many bots.
The last patch improved a handful of quests. The rest of the bugs are still there, too. And I doubt there will be more coming for you to see if you do not pay for the next months (how clever, right...)

Aswers to your questions would be something like:
    A little.
    Same as before.
    No.

[EDIT] But best way to find out if it now meets what you expect from the game would be to login and take a glance by yourself.

No actually, I'm seeing more bug reports and topics whining about server down times. Before, about 90% of the forum discussions is about gold farmers/bots ruining gameplay.

Bots wise, it's basically the same. They're working on it.

Lost 3 more guildies last night, cancelled subs.

Bugged quests, bugged spawns, de-syncing from zones, bots, farmers, spammers, skill lag, ridiculous group mechanics.

They had enough, gone like the wind.

Hard to put numbers on it, but they are trying to ban bots I think. I'm probably finding that 20% of the dungeons I enter have no bots (but players enough that you'll not fight the boss on your own), and the other 80% completely overrun.

I doubt there will be big changes in a timespan of a week.
It will probably be a matter of months before everything is perfect.

Wow... I kinda almost feel bad for ZoS. In my opinion, I think they have very little time frame when it comes to fixing ESO's issues. The longer it takes for them to figure things out, the more frustrated subscribers they'll lose which = to less money for tech support.

Part of me kinda dislikes them for doing this to one of my favourite game titles though. So I do have this rage, and I tend to direct it at ZoS but not forgetting the gold farmers.. and the idiot gold buyers...

I have seen a huge improvement on zone chat spam and on bots in dungeons. Ran 3 dungeons last night - public ones - and the only folks on the boss was me and my fellow players - laughing and chatting about the lack of bots.

I still wake up to 3-4 gold mail spams.

I was reimbursed very fairly for my lost bank slots.

So all in all - I am quite happy with Zen at this moment

It's a just released MMO. Are there some bugs sure, are some really annoying to deal with? You bethca. Is the game though still enjoyable yes. Most days I can't wait to get home and get logged in even if it just for a couple hours.

The only thing I wish was different in the game was grouping. It's an MMO, but you can't go back and help friends due to the heavy phasing. I understand why it's done, they want you to feel you are affecting the world, but coming up with a way that you can go back and help people if you wanted would be a nice addition.

Bots now farm mobs and resource nodes instead of bosses. Equipment now breaks rapidly fast, like once every 45 minutes of play, your whole set is broken even if you didn't get hit.

How is that for an improvement?

    Within; Without.

I think the game has improved in the last couple of weeks.

Many of the quests have been fixed. Bots are less prevalent. And the gold spam has been reduced. So to me at least I don't think they have took a vacation and told us all to stick it.

They seem to be working hard to address this game's issues and make them better.

I seem to see most gold sellers in the low zones.
Perhaps when people get to V1 they don't bother, or they have not made it there themselves.
Bots in some dungeons seem to be an issue, but once again this is low zones.
Since V1 I have had a rather nice experience.

Bots and gold spammers still depend mostly on your level. If you are in higher level zones you don't see spam and few bots. if you are in the main starting zone (1-15) the zone chat will be non stop gold spam, and every public dungeon will have 10+ bots on the boss. Just a matter of time when these issues start impacting the higher zones

I found a place in Rivenspire last night where level 3's were instantly porting from quest-giver to quest-giver. There were literally hundreds of new bot accounts being created and leveled. They were actually doing the quest chain that I was on and much faster too because they didn't have to walk around and kill stuff LOL.

I managed to get 82 reported in about 15 minutes (before i got disgusted) but i missed so many of them because they were appearing and disappearing so fast I couldn't hit "F" to get their name and paste my message fast enough. I probably got 1 in 4 as they ported in and out.

I sent a ticket in for them to call me at home so that I could have a GM meet me in-game and see exactly what was happening but they never called me.

You don't see bots at all if VR1 zones (outside your usual area) as they have to complete the main quest to get there. So once you get to level 50 and finish main story, you are good. Unfortunately, I think many people won't bother.

I think low level zones are just as important. Its where most new players judge the game if its worth playing or not. I also had a couple of friends that canceled their subscription, because they don't feel its worth dedicating their time to deal with all the issues going on at this point.

At least some of them consider renewing if the game gets any better.

  • Robbiejuve
Gold spammers have to encrypt their message so much now to avoid spam filters that you don't even know what they are saying, its just rubbish. They must be doing it out of spite now.

For the first time in days, I didn't see any /zone gold spam in Auridon yesterday. I even went around the area where new characters spawn, which used to have a bunch of "asdaasff" named characters standing around (or underground) and it was clear of those too. Maybe I just got lucky, or they started moving away from the starting area.
No idea about low level zone public dungeons. Haven't seen any in the higher level ones for days, but then I went in coldharbour and saw a bunch in hollow city's wayshrine and a couple of other spots. They were not advertizing in chat and I saw none in dungeons or anywhere else outside the city.
Didn't see them at all yesterday but that may be because they're still at the first phase of the city.
I did get a couple of email spam on different characters, but it doesn't happen on a daily basis like it used to.

    I totally agree.
This is the first experience for new players.
I would be very shocked to see what I see in Stormfalls (or is it Stormhaven) in EP zone chat if I started the game today.
I go back to visit my newly started Alliance comrades and spend half the time ignoring before I can see what people are asking for.

I agree. They are most important, especially in the early stages of the game when first impression are everything.

But I have noticed a steep decline in the number bots over the last week in Stonefalls. I'm a little confused as to why nobody else in this thread seems to have noticed this but me.

I ran 2 dungeons in Stormhaven last night and there were no bots in the dungeon at all.

You don't see every player in a region. If you did, you would see 50,000 people in one area at times. You're sub-instanced to certain other matched players (including, for example, your friends, guild etc). As you progress you are less likely to see malicious players, basically, because they've probably been banned by that point.

The bot problem is just one link in the very long chain of fail that is ESO.

It might take the record for most unsubbed after the included play time.

Gold seller/spammers , bots, and exploiters are just as bad as ever.
    Nothing is done about it.
