Can something be done about people parking their feral guardians on quest NPC's?

I think a vast majority of the time, people just aren't aware they're blocking something. Sure, there's instances of people doing it to be obtrusive, but I don't think that's the majority of people. Also, just because we see it often doesn't mean it's the same person doing it on every server in the game - so try not to nasty whisper them. You wouldn't enjoy someone getting tilted and throwing shade at you if you're literally making an honest mistake. If you whisper them nicely and they don't respond - oh well. Go on with life, because you'll probably never see that person again anyways.

Yep, I don't think it's malicious save a handful of cases. People either don't know, or they've forgotten (happens to me sometimes with the damn warden bear).

I just shoot a nice reminder to unsummon out in zone chat when it happens.

For PC players there is an addon that allows you to assign a hotkey to dismiss either/both pets and summons, including the Warden bear.

It’s called Pet Dismiss and it works. You assign a key (I just use the 7 key) and it auto dismisses whatever you selected in the key assignment.

My main gripe is the Twilights - just flapping everywhere and it can get a bit nauseating when there is more than one. I love the idea mentioned above to just have auto-dismiss near any player-interactive things like crates, merchants, Wayshrines, etc.

Unfortunately there isn't a trivial way to dismiss the bear.

The sad thing is this is a bug - it's always been a bug. They shouldn't be blocking interactions. All the moaning should be directed at Zenimax for not fixing it in years, not at people playing wardens.

On the PC there is -- an add-on called "Pet Dismiss", which can be keybound.

That said, I tend not to have the bear out at quest turn-in time anyway, because I'm usually leveling some other ultimate.

I stopped using my sorcerer pet because it was always in my way. I don't have vanity pets following me around either. I don't know how players can stand having something in their way all the time.

Giant pet magnets above every town. You can have em back after you leave. As for in town quest fights, there are all of 2 to my knowledge. Someone can figure out a couple fights without a pet.

I think they should only be allowed in towns while the character is in combat.

Mounts can be called and sent away with one key. There is no single key to send away the fighting pets.

Assigning one key to summon/send off the fighting pets will probably solve a great part of the problem.

And a bounty in city areas, like for necromancers and vampires.
There should never be a bounty for passive abilities.

Unpopular opinion: Pets should not be passive full-time summons.

I understand the irritation towards other players, but this is a Zeni problem. Pets shouldn’t be targetable outside of combat. In fact, I’m ok with pets not being targetable in combat.

Sure, some players are deliberately grieving by parking their bears and stupid flapping birds on quest objectives, NPCs, and (every GD day) writ turn-ins. But most of those players aren’t acting out of malice, they’re just oblivious. It’s a development issue that it has negative impact on other players.

it is on ZOS, I want a QOL improvement, there's nothing we can do in regards to other players being oblivious or malicious.
a community based "solution" will always fail because we can't control the behavior of every other player out there.
So this is on ZOS to find a technical solution.

As long as they're on a leash ... no problem. But what we don't really know is whether there occurs the same problem as with the dogs in our cities - do the Warden and Sorcs collect the "remains" of their pets? ;)

In my 3500 hours of playing I honestly never really had enough issue to rage at people over. Usually a few seconds of effort and I can click whatever it is I'm trying to click?

Am I just lucky or are you guys upset for having to spend an extra second or two to readjust?

You're lucky. I'm unlucky, there have been times I had to give up and just go to another writ turn-in in another town. [snip] someone who admitted to deliberately parking on those to watch people get frustrated, and they are *far* from the only one doing that. I've gone away and come back half an hour later to find the same bear parked on an NPC and wondered how someone could be AFK for so long and not get booted for inactivity.

Tbh, it could've been fixed a long time ago. Just fix the bear collision or just reduce it. It is absolutely the players fault for trolling on purpose, but they were also given the tools to do so. Mudballs... cough...

The hitbox on the bear works like a column up. so if they're perfectly centered on the NPC, you can't interact with it at any angle, they're surrounded by the bear's hitbox.

Instance all towns. Once you enter a town, no summons, no pets, no companions, no merchants or bankers, no mounts.

All pets and mounts should be unsummoned automaticly by the game when the player gets near a crafting station, merchant, banker or any other interactable. 10 meter would be a good radius for that. Riding in towns would still be possible.

I'd go along with that, provided duelling was also disabled in the same locations including at wayshrines. Duelling often gets in my way and/or unsheathes my weapon but I've never been bothered by anyone's pets.

Perhaps not a bug, but a major design problem in the game. Players should not have to give a second thought about pets and whether they are deployed or blocking anything. They should not be summoning and dismissing the pets. They should not be avoiding them in character builds. They should not be running add-ons that despawn them. These things are examples of ZOS failings.

ZOS needs to step up and deal with this, not the players.

When i see these threads I get totally apprehensive. Why, I like pet class I have always played one in every game. I try to be responsible knowing that most games have this same problem. So I try to dismiss my pet in crowded town areas. But I also feel like my choice of class is being attacked bysome people not all because it is a problem with pets blocking objects. Most pet classes view their pet as a dot which is what they are. Why is it some people want to take a ability away? Some of the comments in this thread are over the top and totally blame the player for a flaw in the system. There maybe a handful of inconsiderate people who for whatever sick reason find pleasure in interuptions others game time but I'm not one of them. So why punish the rest of us?

If someone truly believes that a pet is so disruptive to game play then I suggest running around where people are dueling or wearing a monster set with visuals that go off while crafting or the annoying rain of arrows some players constantly let lose. Let's be fair pets can block things I agree. Like I said I get some people don't like pets but that doesn't mean that should dictate my use of them. This same problem has spanned every game I have played.

Only the devs can find a solution, last night I did a quest in town involving killing a were wolf so making pets disappear in town would require a rework of more that two quests. Plus there will always be people who are disruptive that is a human problem and Zos can't solve that.

Kill wall or bounty. There is zero non-RP reason to have a familiar out in town.
I'd totally support that. A little while ago they added a similar stupidity to forcefully unmount us for no valid reason while leaving/entering cities (and some other places). But block pets/minions? Nooooooooo

Going to possibly strike some nerves and suggest to just add all types combat pets should be a criminal act when around Towns/Friendly NPC's. The problem will solve itself quite quickly. Necromancers have temporary combat pets and get a bounty if they even accidentally spawn them.

Why are Necromancers the only ones exiled from using their skills while Bears and other Daedric forces are too vicious and scary to be around towns anyway. Spare me the lore. /s :D

No, that's ridiculous. We all know that bears and daedra can be friendly. It bugged me when I was crafting and accidentally turned into a werewolf and got killed. It was a bloody accident.

I think you need to read what you wrote. The suggestion that they shouldn't be in town is? Lore. Then you don't want anyone to tell you animating the dead is bad because Lore. Necro class is different so what is your point. As I said it's not up to the player base to decide when someone uses a ability a class has when and where. That is for Zos to fix no matter how much people don't like pet classes they are in the game. Let's add the pvp standard answer just leave until the person goes away or switch to another town.

This is not a new problem and has been a problem in every game. Either deal with it or keep giving silly solutions that will never happen.
