Question about questing if anyone is still reading this. Is it best to do the original main quest storyline first for the extra skill points and than go into whatever dlc/expac after completing the cold harbour stuff ?!

if you care about the story? yes. chronological release order is best. IMO. if you don't care about the story - STILL do the main quest at least, both for skill points and to level up the soul magic skill line.

on a random different note? what's wrong with stam DK? granted, I just couldn't get into the grove with mine for years, but this last patch for whatever reason, she clicked for me and i have been enjoying her a lot. granted, i'm a potato, but in my potato way I tend to have harder time with all classes. (I mean... I hear that boomkins are pretty great right now, and I just.. can't click with it, so my druid is feral kitty for questing, resto for Thorgast and dungeons)

Someone in this forum and people in my guild say they’re just not on par . Idk I could totally check one out !

Boomy was super broken early on , get the trinket than sunbeam console and it was a one shot. Still is but people know how to counter a bit better. I ended once the ele sham meta started . Enough is enough lol

Kinda how expansion classes in wow were historically erm pretty good on release, the 2 chapter classes were designed better than base classes from the ground up.
There were some issues with necro corpse management and tether skills when they came out, but overall both dlc classes were and are very strong.
These classes were also designed for all 3 traditional trinity roles in mind as well, so classes like that weren't definetly feel, worse, for the lack of better word.
Stam dks didn't even have a class spammable for years and the one they got is a massive letdown.

Magsorc is far more viable than Stamplar in PvP. Stamplar is actually pretty terrible in PvP while Magsorc has remained toward the top since ever. Right now I would say Stamden is the best PvP class, but if Stamden was an A+ then magsorc would be a A or A-.

Thanks for the info! I tried a stamden first class i made but it didn’t really suit me too well! That’s okay tho! Magsorc does seem fun from what I’ve seen. Excited to try!

A well built stamden can't be killed in small scale PVP. And I write this as someone who doesn't play the class well but recently tried it out. The problem is you become a Dizzying Swing chimp lol.

I hear amazing things about stamden but I also played wow for years and I know when things go too well for a class the nerf hammer comes in! Also I know it sounds whinny but I really did not enjoy stamden animations of animals and bugs. I always had a thing against pet classes and I’m not sure why. Just really bothered me always. Lol

Well, ZoS doesn't like to nerf the dlc classes too hard, and they have been top tier in pvp for a very long time.
As for class visuals, each to their own, best thing to do is to try everything and see what you like the most.
I started the game as a nightblade at launch, but then like a couple weeks in started to get really jealous of that spear spamming stabby skill that templars have(jabs), and fallen in love and been maining the class ever since.
I'll say this, a lot of the differences in class strengths really come out at high end pvp, aganist similarly skilled players.
You can slay bad/inexperienced players with literally any class if you know what you are doing.
Some classes are also easier for newer players, some arent.
Templar is fairly easy to pick up and if you are also fighting new players it will look very strong.
Nightblade usually requires more finesse, and can look weak until you learn to lean into their strenghts.

I know I’m trying to jump into a “main” very quickly I’m just trying not to fall into Alt hell haha. Magsorc was fun and I was sold on it, but I am not a fan of casting in this style mmo. Maybe one day but I really like the feel of stamina melee characters.
So I switched him to a stamsorc! And than I just came across a stamcro video just an hour ago and god damn I’m drooling ! It looks like what I wanted the stamsorc to look like but I think I need to take a chill pill and try out the stamsorc first haha

Left WOW 2 years ago, after playing since Vanilla, and haven't looked back. Not much I miss about it to be honest.

My advice is to try to enjoy the ESO journey, don't rush to max. This is a beautiful game with some very well written quests and storylines. The community, while a few are jerks, is on the whole very helpful.

And don't pay too much attention to the forums. A lot of the stuff complained about is present in other MMO's. Everyone has this idea that WOW is flawless...hahaha..they don't realize 1/2 the stuff ActiBlizz has pulled or how bad the servers are at times.

Welcome to ESO, may your journey be enjoyable!

Thank you so much! I don’t read the negative cuz wow had more bad than good if people were comparing

    @Rvzr

I'm going to be the one who says go for stamplar, and cut your teeth by playing BGs.

You only need 160 CP to be max level for the purpose of BGs. And you have access to all the different gear, so gearing can be a little bit easier. Also, the constant action of BGs is a better learning environment than the intermittent action in cyrodiil, or just getting smashed by a zerg/zerg surfing.

Regarding stamplar, people are correct when saying they aren't the strongest PVP class, but they can still be very good in the hands of a skilled player. Moreover, of all the classes I've played, I like the "feel" of stamplar the most. And if you can get good on a stamplar, then excelling on other classes will feel that much easier.
“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

@rvzr do the figher's guild, mage's guild, and prophet quests and the main story in each zone. if you feel you need more points to spend, go get the skyshards. there is one in each delve and the public dungeon, and some lying around. there is an addon for that :)

    @Rvzr forgot to add this

here is a list of the mainland quest lines:

    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Quests

poke around the quests and you will find prereqs and who gives it. and there is a link to find them on the map idb.

If you were hoping for a Rogue kind of gameplay but didn't like what Nightblade is, then even though you don't want to play the cookie cutter Meta builds, you sound like you'd maybe enjoy your typical 2Handed Stamina Dragonknight brawler.

I was told to stay away from stam dk at all costs hahah! Something I can look into. I was really loving the magsorc so far, but I mean ps5 patch is going to take another 2 days LOL!!!

ok ur ps5. ixnay the addons. :(

Thank you for all the help! That info you gave me alone is worth tons! No add ons yet maybe one day but it’s okay! I’ve been trying my best! Really feel like I can’t find my class! But I’m going to get whichever toon I play to 50 and not just drop them lol
