WoW player rebirthed on ESO! Way better

So as the title says once wow player who found their love for mmos again on ESO. Unquestionably the better game.

I have been a multi gladiator since wrath of the Lich king! But ESO just feels and plays so much better! Maybe being new to it I’m having that honeymoon stage with it but damn! Everything wow used to be and more is here!! A much more rpgish feel you could say!!

That being said I need some help if anyone could guide me!!

I decided to try the good ol stamblade, got him to level 50 realized it doesn’t play at all like a wow rogue which I was expecting and kind of feel out of love quick! Sort of the same but not really!?

Anywho, I’m going to be mainly doing PvP. I don’t know much yet but I do enjoy the random BGs and I have been told about the world PvP which has me excited!

I have watched a few gameplay videos, and I want to play what makes me feel tingly inside more so than whatever the meta may be right now. I was hoping that was the case with stamblade but it feels like a squishy peanut. Idk what that means but let’s go with it!!

So I think the most exciting in my eyes is probably magsorc or stamplar. I did not like stamden at all got to lvl 20 and dropped that! I know I’m running through characters but I’m trying to find my fit!!

So between those two stamplar or magsorc which is more viable across PvP content solo and grouped as well as the random pve experience !! Or if you think there’s a better alternative please don’t hesitate! I wanna be a bursty boy and have fun doing so!

Any tips or info appreciated!

Magsorc is far more viable than Stamplar in PvP. Stamplar is actually pretty terrible in PvP while Magsorc has remained toward the top since ever. Right now I would say Stamden is the best PvP class, but if Stamden was an A+ then magsorc would be a A or A-.

Thanks for the info! I tried a stamden first class i made but it didn’t really suit me too well! That’s okay tho! Magsorc does seem fun from what I’ve seen. Excited to try!

Magsorc is strong because of Streak and Surge. And Daedric Mines will punish melee if they don't pay attention.

I play Stam DK, Stamplar, Mag DK, Stamden, Stamblade, Stamsorc, Magplar, and Stamcro....

Yes, I have an easier time on my Stamden in BGs or Cyrodiil.
Yes, my Stamblade or my Stamsorc is excellent at getting away in Imperial City or Cyrodiil.
My Mag DK can put up 1.4 million dmg in a BG quite often.

    (Shrugs)
But do you want to know a secret?

    It doesn't really matter.
I figured out that most fights I lost (you know... the ones that actually stung my ego. That loss I felt), it wouldn't have mattered which toon I was on. I got out played.
I still play my Stam DK more than any of them.
    It was my first toon.
I like that's it's mid tier at best and when I win a fight I know I wasn't carried by my class.
    Plus, it just feels right.

You have to find the character that sings to you.
You want a sword or you want a staff?
You want to burn everything down with fire or purify it with light?

Figure out what YOUR power fantasy is and then make that character.

...just don't let it be a Stam DK. Lol.

Hahaha absolutely love this answer! That’s what I’m trying to do. And stamblade was not my jam! I think I’m gonna go in on the magsorc!! Learn the ins and outs and enjoy the game! And hopefully have fun doing it xD anything can be good it just depends on how you play it and what not like you said anything can win! And anything can lose!

I’ll make sure to never touch a Stam dk 😂

Actually, MagBlade is the most versatile because it's the only class that can perform all roles, and also skip mobs with impunity via temporary invisibility.

I would hard disagree. Its good for solo PvE content only at this point. Really lackluster in PvP and subpar damage in group PvE. Really the only way to play Magblade in PvP is a bomb build right now other than that they aren't very good.

magsorc is never not good at anything. It only goes from good to really good to godmode back to good with nerfs and buffs. It is, in my opinion, the best choice for any newbie looking to explore the game and figure out what they want to do and how they want to play.

I think you dropped that stamden to early. Real potential of each class can be seen only fully build. It's pretty common agreement that magcro and magblade are the weakest classes in PvP currently, but with optimized build and in right hands they still can be dangerous. I'm not saying they can be better than top tier classes but still they can hold their ground.

Conclusion? Find a class that fits your style the best and then master it - every class in experienced hands is dangerous. I started with magsorc, switched to hybrid mag/stamblade, then magplar, then again magsorc and in the end I stayed with magblade. I consider it as my main char despite it is a bit more limited than other classes, I can't imagine playing anything else, even when I lose I still love it. Just find that one class that makes you happy ;)

    Edit:
Oh and for test purposes I usually play a char at least for a week in PvP with fully developed build. I've tested all possible classes but only those mentioned above fitted me so good that I played them more than a half a year. Just give them a try, some classes are getting strong later in the game.

Absolutely hear where you’re coming from but I want to try and focus all my efforts into one class for now! And enjoy all the questing and everything else that comes with the game! I’m brand spanking new and have years of catch up to do!! I got a magsorc up to 20 now and I’m
Enjoying it much more suits my play style a bit better than the half a** rogue LOL. If stamblade played more like a subtlety rogue in wow, I would most def be maining that. But the bursty boy style from a magsorc is hitting the right buttons for now!

As someone who has played WoW since Vanilla and ESO since Beta, there will always be things you missed from WoW that you won't find in ESO. But the opposite is also true...there are things I miss from ESO when I try to come back to WOW. In the end, there are more things I miss from ESO that WoW doesn't have, then things I miss from WoW.

The PVP scene in WoW-Retail is healthier, it just is. BUT....I prefer PVP in ESO. WoW sort of re-defined vertical gear progression and they are going to continue running with it...which I now loathe. ESO just has more freendom to build how you want, which is the closest we will get to a true sandbox system like SWG had back in the day.

But welcome to ESO, I hope you enjoy your stay.

ESO is very alt friendly, you can share all gear between characters and they level up together past level 50.
So its smart to have many alts even if you just use them to store stuff in the beginning.
You want to level up riding skills anyway.

If you mostly PvP you will love Cyrodil but recommend joining an PvP guild for this as getting into pug groups takes time.
With an group of friends on voice its an blast :)

Note that alliance matter in Cyrodil, you can only play with others in your alliance there. This is determined by your race unless you have an update who overrides it. You can also buy alliance changes but they cost money like the any race any alliance update.
Also some Cyrodil servers are also alliance locked so if you play it on one character others with other alliances can not go there. More hardcore PvP guilds will also not let you play on other alliances in Cyrodil during their guild runs as its lots of spying and backstabbing.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I say its up to you. The DLC zone quests is pretty independent although southern Elsweyr is an direct continuation of northern one and you get an huge house doing them.

For first play trough I would probably go trough the main quest and the chapter quest for the experience. I always do on new stuff anyway.

If you care about story, I'd suggest doing the original main quest first. Major characters from the main quest show up again in the later DLC and their character arcs make no sense if you haven't finished the main quest first.

If you don't care about the story, well... like you said, it's easy skill points.

If you were hoping for a Rogue kind of gameplay but didn't like what Nightblade is, then even though you don't want to play the cookie cutter Meta builds, you sound like you'd maybe enjoy your typical 2Handed Stamina Dragonknight brawler.

Sick of wow! Been doing it for years and years. Every expac there’s less freedom and it’s like they want people to buy carries especially in PvP. Skill does not matter as much as gear in a very broken way! I will always love wow but I prefer the eso PvP by far and it’s only been a week or two! Should be a fun adventure.

Is there rated PvP and gladiator type achievements for PvP in Eso?

if you care about the story? yes. chronological release order is best. IMO. if you don't care about the story - STILL do the main quest at least, both for skill points and to level up the soul magic skill line.

on a random different note? what's wrong with stam DK? granted, I just couldn't get into the grove with mine for years, but this last patch for whatever reason, she clicked for me and i have been enjoying her a lot. granted, i'm a potato, but in my potato way I tend to have harder time with all classes. The game is crashing far too often for me (on the PS4) now. I can't remember a single crash when I played WoW (though that was on the PC).

Some aspects are better, some are worse. Both are games. I don't like the direction I see either headed unfortunately however.

For sure wow has the upper hand on a better more fluid game and things always working, but it’s very basic in the fact that combat hasn’t changed and it’s very linear . Where as eso I find so far has more options and paths no one person plays like another and rotation is more open where as wow is always done one way in PvP and pve . Hopefully June 8 fixes psn version

    Welcome to ESO 😁

I play magdk, stamdk, stamsorc, stamplar, stamden, stamblade and stamcro.
Stamsorc is my favourite very fast playstyle.

I would watch some youtube videos of the different classes in expert hands and decide which you want to try next. There is so many ways to build and play differently from others that classes are really just the foundation of a build idea.

If you need any help, it's a pretty awesome community😁 feel free to find me in game too! @relentless_turnip pc EU.

I hear amazing things about stamden but I also played wow for years and I know when things go too well for a class the nerf hammer comes in! Also I know it sounds whinny but I really did not enjoy stamden animations of animals and bugs. I always had a thing against pet classes and I’m not sure why. Just really bothered me always. Lol
