So do people actually buy from Guild Traders outside of Capital Cities?

These days, absolutely. The larger, richer, more powerful guilds are pricing traders completely out of viability for anyone but themselves, leaving everyone else to fight over the "dreg" traders. This means some really good guilds are getting locations in the middle of nowhere.

Years ago, it used to be "You can find good deals at out-of-the-way traders." These days, it's more like, "If you don't want to get utterly ripped off by people charging indefensible prices in order to pay for the ludicrous bids they're putting out in order to control the market, shop at out-of-the-way traders and hope really hard."

Yes! I shop every trader in the game.

Generally no, i only check major cities. Unless I am looking for a hard to find item or a deal.

Yes. While most of my shopping is in the capitals, you tend to find better deals outside the capitals.

Rawkla is a popular place to shop on Xbox NA. Belkarth still does well I think, though nowhere near as well as it used to in the old days when writs were only done there. Daggerfall is decent, Vivec too.

I'm on console so I don't bother with the traders in small cities or the lone traders out in the wild because I don't have hours to go trek down each one individually to see what they're selling and for how much.

I do visit some of the big clusters when I'm really searching for something though. Outside of the main capitals I'll hit up Vvardenfell, Belkarth, Summerset, and Rawlka, and I'll even go to Riften and Murkmire if I'm really desperate. If I can't find what I'm looking for by then though I usually just give up.

I go wherever ttc says a recent post for the item I want is located

Yes, I buy at all traders, not only those in the Cities. I don't believe that location of the trader has any influence. What counts is the item we search for and its price. For me, that's what defines the location I go to.

Yes, I'll look at all the kiosks when I'm in an area. I don't use TTC, so the "run here because its a low price" isn't a thing for me.

I do most of my in demand shopping in rawlkha, that's my main hub.
For anything specific like gear I hop on ttc and check there, and from there the location doesn't matter.
Dedicated traders usually chech smaller traders for flipping.

Yes, with TTC but lately also without, because of the bargains people have already mentioned. :)

I'm lazy so If I need something I know I can get from traders in my main hub, I won't bother with ttc, it can also be hours behind actual listing.
Also lots of people don't use ttc or even know about it.

Nope. I regularly go around shopping for deals that aren't on TTC. I find tons of stuff all the time

Yes but a problem for many of the Mom and Pop traders is their players trying to sell goods at Main Hub prices.

The players who understand how to market at smaller traders do quite well. I have, numerous times, showed guildies how to make millions at a small trade store.

The best part is the overhead is usually much less given small trade guilds do not typically require heavy dues or large sales to maintain. Often I can achieve close to the same profit even at a lower sale price.

Of course. Just today i needed some lava soup or whatever but there was like 0 of it in Vivec.
So i had to check TTC and went to some random village to buy it.

There are 5 guild traders right outside of Vivec City. One is usually vastly more expensive but another has a more extensive selection and quite a bit cheaper.

The moral of course is shop around...anywhere.

Apparently TTC doesn't always have everything listed. I wasn't able to search for the new style pages during Jester's Festival because apparently they hadn't been entered into the TTC database. I know they were at the guild traders because I went and looked myself and found the pages I was hoping to buy at almost every trader I checked, yet TTC showed absolutely nothing.

    Indeed I do.

If you can get to them before the 'flippers' do you can get pretty decent deals outside of the main 'guild trader hubs'.

Yeah, and what kills me is that the flippers openly refer to those "pretty decent deals" as "items that were priced incorrectly." Players can list any item at any price they wish, low or high. Have you ever seen a flipper refer to high-priced listings as "items that were priced incorrectly"? They will swear up and down that price manipulation is not a thing, and will preach the holy gospel of "Supply and Demand," yet their own words indicate that they themselves are personally deciding what the "correct" prices of everything should be, as opposed to the prices finding a natural point of equilibrium through any actual process of supply and demand.

The rare times I actually use a trader, I'm looking for a very specific thing (like "the motif I need for this Master Writ" or "a Nirn-trait Cloth Belt"). So I've no reason to look at a trader I'm passing to "see what they have". I don't browse, I've nothing to browse for.

So, no. I don't bother with traders outside Elden Root or Vivec, unless TTC sends me there for the specific item i want. But like I said, I barely ever bother with the traders at Elden Root or Vivec anyway.

(actually, thinking about it, that matches how I use stores IRL. I don't go to browse. I go to Store X to buy item Y. Walk in, get the item, pay, walk out.)

Depends on what it is. Since I'm on PC, I do check TTC for things that are hard to find, or which vary greatly in prices occasionally. This often leads me to obscure spots, such as outlaw refugees. Besides that, every location that have 4+ traders in the same spot, I do tend to check once in a while as well. Except for wrothgar because that trader location is dreadful, it needs a 2nd wayshrine close to the traders.
So those spots are definitely viable to sell things in, assuming you price them wisely.

Like the ones in Outlaws Refuges and out in the world, and in smaller cities and whatnot.

Do guilds who own those actually make decent sales?

Or is it like 10 massive Guilds who make all the sales cause they own all the Capital City guild traders?

Yes, I shop around for the best deal. Sometimes I buy from the guild capitols right away if I find what I believe is a good deal, but often, I see higher prices and I port to the other hubs with multiple traders and check those stores out as well before committing to buying. I may even end up back in the capitol cities to buy what I want, but at least then, I know I'm getting the best value.

Whenever I want to buy someone I will hop on to the TTC site and see where it is for sale - being willing to travel that little bit more often means you get ripped off less by people trying to inflate the prices to what they think it is worth rather than the market average.

When I pass them I stop to see what they have. I've gotten some good stuff from the out of the way traders.

Because I don't trust TTC. It shows what items were listed for, not what they sold for. Past experience shows people will manipulate prices and lowball items to do a bait and switch. I'd rather "check" guild stores because even if they don't have *the* item I might be searching for, they might have items I want.

Someone was hunting a piece of the "deadly" set, and complained that all of that set was rare, he didn't see any on TTC and was not happy about it. I checked my stickerbook, saw I had nothing for "deadly" and went to the closest guild store. Bought three "deadly" items for less than TTC shopper paid for one. TTC might be nice for some players, but I don't use it or plan on using it.

Because with some items, you won't find the best deals that are listed on TTC during some parts of the day. They are sold before they appear there. The price difference on those items can mean half price. So while TTC is good, using it exclusively is not always the best way.
