Will you make use of your Companion(s)?

Yes, for the characters it makes sense to do so... I have 3 mains (and assorted half-built characters), and for at least one of them, a companion would be of great use. For another, absolutely not. The third could use a companion, but may not be that useful - I’ll have to try it and see how it goes.

I do, yes. If nothing else, I like the idea of having a buddy (probably the guy, not big on edgy female dark elves) to tag along and help out, even if he hits like a wet noodle.
    Hoping for more playable races

Yes. Some DLC WB are a bit much. Could make doing dailies in some zones more fun to solo.

Id love to give them a shot but on my main character I have no content left to level them up with as it were
so unless zos adds a quest reset function in the expansion then I literally cant make use of em.

I'm not enthused about Companions except for one simple reason...

If they work like I'm hoping they do, my partner and I will never have to put up with PUGs again -- but we'll still be able to easily get our Random Dailies done without jumping through hoops! Now we can just duo them without using alt accounts or any other LFG finagling! Huzzah!!

I just hope Bastion enjoys sitting in the corner and staring at the wall while my friend and I are off handling business! :D

    SAME HERE. Exactly.

And I'm not buying much of micro-ZOS' baloney lately, but I'll buy this ham sandwich.

As a main tank I hope they are good enough to do overland content with in a reasonable pace(atleast 25-30k dps). The game needs dual spec! (I'd be running 18 tanks if there was dual spec)

If companions turn out to be useless, I am going to be more pissed off at the new feature, than I am going to be happy with ZOS even adding them.

    [snip]

more likely zos will make them halfway usable tanks or healers and [snip] dps.

    just to shaft tanks. again.

    Simple question, simple answer.

Do you plan to use your companion(s)?

I‘m deliberately not adding other poll options, as I just want to know what the general consensus on companions is. I don’t want to hear yes, but... or no, except... answers. Just a simple yes or no. If you’d like to explain your answer, please do so in the comments.

For me it’s a simple no. I hate the idea and I won’t use them (granted, I didn’t even pre order Blackwood, so I can’t use them either), even if they deal 50k DPS or make me immortal. I don’t want to lose the last remnants of challenge in PvE. And I generally hate the idea of (battle) companions in an MMORPG. This feature worked in Star Wars The Old Republic because the entire game was designed with companions in mind. In ESO they will be either broken, useless or just unnecessary as ZOS won’t revamp / re-balance everything before Blackwood to fit companions into old content.

I think it s quite absurd to ask for a simple yes and no answers just because your own stance is a simple no. There are people out there with less binary patterns of thought.

Yes I will be using, but also I'm curious if they will be allowed in dungeons. I'm asumming not because then you could see 4 of the same companion, also disregarding that 4 player dungeons would become 8 player dungeons. lol

I just don't like the thought of companions, many people going to hate my opinion probably.
But they're just going to make the game even easier.
We have guilds and a friend list, those are my companions.
I don't need an npc to hold my hand when i'm adventuring on my own. There's other Elder Scrolls games if I wanted to have that.
Yeah sure it's a "cool" addition, if they come with their own bag space this "no" might turn into a "maybe". But otherwise...
I'd rather just not see them in the game.

I'll pour one out to all the people that completed Vet HM Solo dungeons prior to companions, you're the real heroes in Tamriel. With this addition nearly everything will be solo-able with little effort. It's a shame.

I think it's funny when people complain about PvE not being challenging...
Here a couple ideas to make you happy and prove that you are better then everybody else:

    - Play naked or with xp gear
    - Solo group content in whatever difficulty makes you lick the floor
    - Don't use champion points
    - Reduce attributes
    - Make a brand new account and start from scratch without any help

    Have fun.

I am very worried about few things with the companion release:
    1) FPS in overland, cities and dolmens. So how much will they affect server performance?

    2) Loot. With each release of the DLS dungeon, I queue up like a tank and farm new sets. I'm afraid that now I will fall into groups where there are 2 bots and it is unlikely that bots will be able to pick up loot. The chances of getting weapons from the dungeon are greatly reduced. For the same reason, companions will be unwanted guests in normal trials and there will be many unpleasant situations when newcomers will be required to recall their companions.

    3) I doubt the companions can be really used effectively. Will my comrade be able to tank the veteran Zaan and not die from every poisonous sneeze? Will mechanics be prescribed for them in dungeons and trials?

Never been fan of companions in any game, I prefer to fight on my own. I might test it and see what it brings, but in the end I will end up a loner, just the way I like it.

I'll certainly get them and gear them.
But I'll probably never use them.

Maybe, if we gear them as tanks, though .. we'll be able to kick fake tanks in random and replace them with a companion.

The companion will tank better and would probably do more DPS than the average fake tank.

I will definitely use them, I'm curious what stories are connected to them and, overall, I also see them rather as some sort of quest than as a feature/help for battle.

I'm a bit surprised there aren't more people who will use them, but not use use them, ya know? Nothing against those looking to use Companions as intended, but...

I can't be in that small of a minority who is looking forward to being able to use a Companion simply to avoid having random players intrude on my Random Daily Dungeons runs, right? Personally I can't wait to be able to pair up with a friend, we both pull out our Companions, then proceed to duo our dungeons completely unhindered by strangers and all the headaches they sometimes bring. Bastion & Mary will be assigned to taunt and heal a lone mudcrab in the corner while my friend and I do our thing and earn our XP & Transmutes for the day! haha

Companions could be utterly useless in combat itself, and I'd still be pretty happy about this "queue-skewing" aspect alone!

Don't expect them to replace human players by any means, but I'm sure as heck going to do their storyline quests.

I assume they have to be present at least part of that time

They already said that companions are allowed everywhere except pvp and solo arenas. And companions take player slot in dungeons and trials so you cant have 4 of them in dungeons.

As a PvE soloist, my primary interest in a companion is just that - companionship for my elf. I prefer AI companions to live ones because the AI ones stay in character 100% of the time, their schedule perfectly mirrors mine avoiding any and all scheduling concerns, they don't get sick, they don't have irl things to attend to. . . . My magward loves adventuring with her bear and prefers it to other gamers for the same reasons.

I don't really care how much damage they can do and I sure don't care about any 'balance' considerations. Rather, I'm much more interested in things like the fact that they will be able to ride a mount alongside you. If having them along can add a couple more dungeons/WBs to those I can solo that is simply a bonus. :)

Well said, I could have written this myself 🙂

I've had the quest for Direfrost Keep in my quest log for a while on my main character. I was soloing it and forgot you need another person to open the door further in. Derp. It will be nice to finally go back and finish that.

Also, it will be new and different to have a back-up for when I need to do a world boss daily, but I'm in a dead dlc zone with no other players around. It seems like a number of positive options open up with a companion...from my point of view, anyway. If I find I dislike it in practice (like I did Lydia), then they will just stay behind at the homestead/unsummoned.
