We need to talk about combat pets on pvp

Honestly, am I the only one who finds abusive the explotation of the games aim mechanics to misdirect enemy attacks with combat pets?
It's really annoying, you do and perfect combo and PUFF, a combat pet enters in front of the atack on the last hit giving your oponent time to recover

Even worse when the pets are invunerable (talking about you werewolves) at least in this case, THAT cannot be denied as being abusive

    Werewolf pets cannot be targeted.

I've mained a werewolf for 4 years, they used to be target able, so we'd just hide behind them. It was incredibly cheap, so no complaints that they changed it.

But why the heck are sorcs still able to hide behind a Familiar, Twighlite Engine Guardian, Daedroth and Atronach? It's ridiculous.

    well said
    all truth.

    in addition:
zenimax please also make the proc set "Enginge guardian (dwemer spider)" to be untargettable.

    in addition:
when you add in constant jumping while in pvp and all the pets around them it makes the player completely untargetable.

Because sorc pets take up 2 bar slots each. If they weren't targetable, they'd be pretty useless for their skill bar cost to run. Plus, you can kill them and force the sorc to spend a cooldown recasting.

Usually one pet Sorc is not the problem. But if you face two or more pet Sorcs in battlegrounds, targeting becomes horrible because all you see are Imps, Clannfears, Twilights or Atronachs. It’s incredibly difficult to focus the right target, especially when you’re not a melee.

At this point I’d prefer that pets in PvP become untargettable because nobody kills them either.

My very first BG was against summoner team. Was "very fun" intro to ESO PVP.

    (1pet + 1MagSorc) * 4 = 8 targets
    (2pet + 1MagSorc) * 4 = 12 targets
    (3pet + 1MagSorc) * 4 = 16 targets
    (4pet + 1MagSorc) * 4 = 20 targets

I think this is a nightmare.

That's the skill though the pet does constant damage and has a function when you hit the correlating button.

Killing the pet takes 10x the time a Sorc needs to resummon it and the summons are so cheap that this isn’t even an issue. If summoning a pet would cost 10000 Magicka I’d agree, but this way it’s not more than a tiny nuisance.

Tab target helps a bit, bind a key to it and use it on your target. They should get a white outline around them.
Just dont do it against people who use Engine Guardian or Chokey or you cant bash those when they body block.

I've complained about it a lot in the past but on one seemed to care. I see a pet sorc I just straight up ignore it, garbage player with garbage build, not worth my time or getting frustrated over it. Basically if I see pets of any kind, I immediately look for a target in the OPPOSITE directions lol!

There are obvious fixes like making them untargetable but realize that this would make pets in pvp completely useless, not that I would mind. AI belongs in pve anyway, but every game has that one gimmick for the special players..

Sorc's pet is like a DoT or HoT that does not need to be reactivated.
It is very strong even with no target.

[snip] Just use a gap-closer, improve a bit more in mobiity and run to the opponent. Pets are also very weak on their own. [snip]

You all know sorc pets eat 2 of your bar spaces right? Also they tend to run all over the place as well. In cyro I felt kind of bad when we were defending a door and I noticed the enemy was heavy attacking my pets for free resource. Players los'd to keep the enemy players dry but you can't really keep pets back.

They also die fast to any decent dps as they don't gain armor at all. I had to resummon them a lot, costing a lot of magicka.

Doesn't tab targeting help you? I stopped hitting pets by using it.

Play a warden. Heals for days, stupidly tanky, and lots of damage.

    It is their fav class

A good sorc this patch doesn’t usually run pets at all. Are you sure you didn’t step in a time machine....

I once saw a 12 man ball group in Cyrodiil using this set up. All of them were Sorc with all pets active + occasionally they were placing multiple Atronaches at once. In addition they had some random pets from proc sets (like Maw of the Infernal).

    It was hilarious :D:joy:

Tab targeting in ESO has never forced your skill to hit the highlighted target. Your skills can still hit the pets even if you highlight something else. It's literally just a highlight.

Regarding pets like engine guardian. Bashing it should force it to despawn. Currently if you bash it, it will continue to give resources after the stun ends, which shouldn't be a thing. Dame thing with chokethorn. Bashing those pets should instantly cause them to despawn.

On Pc it helped me when fighting someone wearing the annoying engine guardian. Also I'm not fine with engine guardian or other pets that are hittable but don't give any benefit. Blastbones and chokethorn is the same way, doesn't matter if you attack them, they just respawn or die anyway. At least a sorc is left open channelling when their pets die.
