PC NA Server Entirely too crowded

ZOS, make a new server, preferably multiple new servers.

The PC NA server is just too crowded.

It is literally the opposite of fun to have to wait for mobs and bosses to spawn regardless of what zone I go to.
It is the opposite of fun to follow a train of bunny-hopping zerg-derps through a delve or pub dungeon.
It is the opposite of fun to be a sub paying player and get booted off the server due to bugs and then to have to wait in a queue to get back in game.

Even better, give us the option to toggle on SOLO or GROUP ONLY mode, so we can chose to have the world to ourselves (or our group) if we so desire.
Aren't you always blowing the "play your way" trumpet, ZOS?
I sure would like some choice here.

BANDITS USER INTERFACE - Version 4.298 or older
    • Has A Khajiit Mode which makes other players invisible to you! The way this AddOn works, is it makes the new players coming into your current zone invisible. The ones already there will still be visible until they leave that zone and come back. You will also still see some effects of the players even if they are invisible to you.
To start making other players invisible click on the "VanishPlayersDesc" side menu button: Pacrooti will appear, meaning: NEW players coming into the same zone as you will be invisible. Make sure you have the Bandits User Interface Version 4.298 or older to have that feature. Don't message the AddOn Creator asking questions, they only removed this feature because "tired of stupid questions about it". Once again, it only makes NEW players coming into your current zone invisible, you have to wait for the other players to leave your current zone for those players to become invisible

Seeing the bunny-hopper is hardly the problem. Following after and the trail of dead mobs is the problem.

I don't think any MMO provides a solo instance of a world/zone freely to their players.

It is far too expensive and creates a heavy load on their servers if a lot of people uses it.

It is basically a single player game but all the world instances and calculations are done on the server (ZOS) side.

    Hoo boy.

Well, son.... what you seem to be experiencing is the epitome of MMOs. Either embrace the bajillions of players, joining them in the insanity - or limit your play to off peak hours as I do (PC NA - PC EU is always on peak for me; but the stuff I do in game isn't a problem even if on peak there).

I do realize that playing off peak is a problem for anyone not retired. Sorry, I have no other advice.

Trail of dead mobs is not a problem

To some its a solution for easier skyshards ;)

Weird.... it's almost as though you aren't the only player in the world.

Or indeed, the only player in a multiplayer game.

    So trippy....

Prime time and weekend, what do expect. Nothing wrong having high server population. The problem atm is that everyone is trying to grind xp. I could be wrong but it seems op is salty coz theres alot of people at every grind spot lol.
Just go to instanced spot, like nBRP or Skyreach.

I'm pretty sure the way to get a solo only mode is to uninstall ESO and go install Skyrim.

One could argue that some zones (especially newer ones) need more 'shards' (zone instances - there are multiple instances of each zone, you don't just all get clamped into one), or that more servers are needed to ease the load, but I really don't think that one could argue that an MMO needs to provide solo instances of the entire world for each of its thousands of players.

I agree that my game (PC NA) is too crowded. On one hand, even as a soloist I have to admit that is a good thing as it indicates the game is attracting/maintaining players. On the other hand, crafting/merchant areas are often absurdly crowded to the point of being not enjoyable at all. And I can't remember the last time I actually got to kill a delve boss by myself - feeling lucky if I can get a light attack in before several other players kill it.

I don't think another server is the answer perhaps. Rather, I should think simply more instances would help since I believe this is something that is already used. We just need more of them I think to make the game seem less overcrowded. I think @Magdalina is suggesting the same thing above. :)
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

This has always happened on PC EU. This only really annoys me in delves/public dungeons though, as I always want to kill everything. But when someone runs through, there are no mobs left, and no boss. So I can either wait, or follow. Which both are terrible options. Even worse is when someone kills the boss, knowing they just ran past you.

Whenever I do a delve/public dungeon, and know a person is near, I always wait with killing the boss. Attack the boss, and sheath my weapon, so they can see they get to partially kill the boss. So they get credit too. Sharing is caring!

This, now it can be to much like launch of Morrowind, that was insane, an stealth mission felt like an zerg and it was more players than enemies in delves :)
They run far more instances now on new or popular content like during events.

And because of instances its no reasons for more server locations. Only reason is network lag to Asia / Oceanic.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

So much short sightedness and limited vision in these comments, I guess I should not be surprised.

The fact remains that the server is too crowded. That is irrefutable.

The only rational conversation is what steps ZOS can and will take to address the problem.

Given that ZOS ignores community feelings and feedback, as evidenced countless times over the years, I expect nothing will be done. Still, I must voice my frustration in the hopes that others who are similarly frustrated will add their voice, their weight to the discussion and in so doing cause ZOS to pay attention (for once?!).

Actually, no. You can do what others do, and try to form a small group to run through that stuff. Especially if there's a lot of people hanging out waiting for respawns. You see, the beauty of this is that all those players means that there's more players to knock around with, and finish stuff off faster. It's not like you have to be friends, or even talk to 'em, but a little bit of coop play in a PvE zone will alleviate some of your problems.

That's your opinion. Obviously, if you play at prime time on the weekends, it's going to be busy.

But let's assume ZOS decides to implement a SOLO/GROUP shard. Are you paying the full cost of that shard while you are in it?

Honestly, I talk that rules like they are general
    But is only your opinion

I Find myself rejoiced when I travel and find groups of player plaiyng, when I go to kill a Boss and have a great group of people competing for it, it makes the server feels alive

If I wanted to play alone i would just go to a single player game

(I do uderstand although there is a limit for that, and for me, the limit is when My FPS starts droping due the excess of people on the screen '-')

Would be cool if ESO had selectable instances to help with the crowding, don't get me wrong I love a populated zone but sometimes its terrible for lag, farming, or just simply questing and it would be nice to switch instances to have a little bit of a less crowded zone.
They already have instances, I don't know how many times me and my friend after joining up in a group realized they we were invisible and in our own instances of the same zone, so why not just create a selectable list to choose from? I don't know, its just a suggestion, I'm fine the way it is and I don't often have issues but when I occasionally do it would be nice to just switch at will.

i have the opposite problem. i logged into cyrodiil into black reach campaign 2 weeks into the start of the new campaign. i got 2k AP, and im 166 on the scoreboard. r u telling me only 165 people played as DC for that campaign 2 weeks in? and a good portion of them are alliance swappers? so we relaly only got like 360 active people in the blackreach server? maybe 400?

so there's literally less than 1,500 people who play cyrodiil. out of the 60k+ people who log in each day?

Guild Wars'combat zones were all instanced. It was great.

A big reason for the choice was that the devs had previously worked on WoW, and wanted to solve the problem of people waiting in line to kill bosses.

I was disappointed that that and other choices weren't carried over to GW2.

That works if you have a limited number of instances. Like, Black Desert Online has server groups that you can switch between, but they are always the same. They don't add or remove them if things get more or less crowded.

Meanwhile, GW2 and ESO have dynamic instances, so if more people are online, they can create more instances of a zone, but if they are not needed, they poof.
