I don't think any MMO provides a solo instance of a world/zone freely to their players.

It is far too expensive and creates a heavy load on their servers if a lot of people uses it.

It is basically a single player game but all the world instances and calculations are done on the server (ZOS) side.

They do offer private worlds in FO76 and by the Gods, it is amazing. You can play solo or invite some friends over.
I would pay some extra bucks to have this in ESO.

On the other hand the infrastructure of ESO is radically different from the one in FO76, so i don't know if this is possible.

Yeah, I can find little corners of any given map with no monsters where there are no players either. Cool. That's a great help.
I can also just hang out in my homes and afk for that too.

However, the fact remains that there is not a single public dungeon that I have entered in the last couple years that didn't have other players zerging it.
    NOT!
    A!
    SINGLE!
    ONE!
...and I searched for one that was empty... On multiple occasions.

It's not like I had a zerg clean a pub dungeon once and came here to whine about it. This has been a constant, ongoing problem for years. Not months, years!
Sure, its worse now with everyone home but its been a problem for years.

PUBLIC dungeon - there's your answer - it's not a SOLO dungeon. This is an MMO not a single player game. If you want to play alone don't play and MMO. A crowded, bustling server is a good sign.

Look I love MMO's (Massively Multi-player Online) games. Just not OCMMO's (Over Crowded Massively Multi-player Online) games. Kills are taken away, Bosses are taken away, shite, the challenge and excitement are taken away when you're about to make a difficult Boss kill and some knucklehead rushes in and wipes the last 50 h.p.'s from it. So annoying!

Don't know what they can do, but [snip] do something!

Nothing is being taken away from you. You still get credit and XP and loot. Just because you were there first and someone, for any number of reasons, arrived there after you doesn't mean it's your boss to kill alone. If you're playing an MMO and looking for the "challenge" of solo content, stick to soloing dungeon or the arena, but don't think that out in open public areas that anything is there just for you and that other player must defer to you. That's an problem with your attitude, not other players or the game design.

Give Xbox EU some players. The population count is so low. Especially for PvP. One bar at peak time is so boring.

I will simply add... if you want to make sure you're not in a crowded area... then play a single player game... simple as that. This is an MMO, and honestly, this game has ebb and flow... one month you cannot find anyone, the next there are tons of players everywhere. Just look at FFXIV... recently selling out digital copies... while at the same time, I've seen an explosion of new characters in ESO, not sure if they're new players or just new characters.

ZOS does create new 'regions' dynamically if a specific region becomes overpopulated. Hence the reason you can wayshrine to one region then return, and suddenly all the players you previously saw are gone. I have this happen all the time when I've been doing dolmen runs. I will be running with a crowd and the dolmens will activate in a certain order, I'll accidentally wayshrine to a different region or have to log out... when I return to the dolmens... everything has changed. No longer the same players and the dolmen activation is completely different.

So if OP is experiencing an over-crowded area, they could try to log out and back in- or wayshrine to a different region and back, and see if they end up in a less crowded dynamic region.
    CP: 2130 ** ESO+ ** ~~ ***** Strictly a solo PvE quester *****
    ~~Started Playing: May 2015 | Stopped Playing: July 2025 | Returned: March 2026~~

play in off-peak areas or dead dlc zones when there's not an anniversary event. I almost never see anyone in Murkmire which sucks because the WB's are a pain

No offence but you play a mmo and are upset the servers are populated? Do i understand that correctly? While i can see the annoyance i have also played dead mmos where you saw NO ONE and let me tell you, i'll take the army of players over wasteland. If you want to play solo i recommend having a single player game on the back burner. I play skyrim or morrowind when i want that single player tes feel.

Tomorrow, there will be a thread with a different title:

PC NA server is empty, this game must be dying.

And then the day after someone will say it is too crowded again.

Actually, now that I think about it, that is exactly what happened when Blackwood came out. Several posts about it being so empty.

Kind of reminds me of the old Yogi Berra quote, "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."
