Crate season quality is highly subjective.

I didn't find this season to be anything special.
I bought one pallet of 15 and was lucky enough to get the one, single item I wanted (the Spiderkith eyes), so I won't be buying anymore Ayelid crates.
I can usually find two or three things in a season that catch my eye, but not this time.

I agree! I really like the Silyanorn Ayleid weapon styles, especially the staff, and the Nenalata Ayleid horse and I’m glad the armor isn’t super shiny but has more subtlety to it. I’m happy to get more Ayleid furnishings although I do wish they were Crown items instead and I would then have bought more Ayleid gates. I love the cherry blossom headpiece, several of the pets are very nice and the warrior-poet tattoos are cool!

Well that’s funny; I just waited for a season I liked and bought a bunch of crates so now I have exactly what I expected: a variety of items that I like and some gems to buy items I might like from seasons which feature irradiated undead mounts hacking and puking the plague (I think that covers four crate seasons?) that I have absolutely zero interest in. I’m pretty sure slot machines don’t work like that.
