question on build

Darkspecialist
so i wanted a toon to do everything on..its been a few months and im starting to question if im making the right decisions. Made this magicka templar..found some godmode templar..read that this is one of few top classes that can always be for all content for what im interested in doing. The other day i was reading about templar build and found another build i like. Im interested in doing all the quests, collecting all the books..chase achievements then move to just trying to solo stuff when i get there someday.

https://www.hacktheminotaur.com/eso-templar-builds the templar never dies build and the godmode build. I was farming delve bosses for gear for the first build and started to wonder if im making the right decisions here. I dont want to spend material upgrading gear to feel ive made the wrong decision.

how do you get over this?

What is your issue exactly? You've mentioned you found a build you liked, and want to go on and run things solo with it. I'm not sure what you need from us.
    @Djennku, PCNA.

Grand Master crafter, all styles and all furnishing plans known pre U41.
Vamp and WW bites available for players.
Shoot me an in-game mail if you need anything, happy to help!

i didnt click on the build you linked, but hack the minotaur is a "respected" and good content and build creator in the ESO community, so really, if you like what he is posting, you wont go wrong.

that said: dont upgrade gear before CP 160, at least not to purple, blue gear will suffice. if you hit CP 160 and got CP 160 gear you should aim to upgrade your weapons to gold first, then your gear to purple (gold is okay, but not needed). Your jewelry is reeeealy expensive to upgrade, so you will be better off farming the purple rings and necklace.

Okay, MagPlar for SOLO is a great choice. Not so much for DPS. But you can always run Dungeons as a healer.

Advantages of a Magplar include strong defense, strong self healing and a simple offense with Sweeps. Really cool for SOLO ESO.
Now, the achilles heal of the Templar are Damage, Spell Penetration and Crit Chance, when you are alone. And juggling three, four or five Buffs in one rotation can be challenging, especially for beginners and newcomers to the class.

So, to mediate the weaknesses you need to choose the right mundus, buff food and gear. And certain abilities can help too.
Every SOLO build for Templar should run Degeneration from the Mages guild line, Wall of Elements, Elemental Drain and Elemental Rage from the Destruction skill line (on the backbar) and the Thief Mundus or Mothers Sorrow Set (or both), as a rule. Choose the Lover Mundus and/or Sharpened trait for the main weapon, if you do not have enough spell penetration.
Blue Bi-Stat Food is mandatory, because of more health and more damage for sweeps. Stamina isn't that important anymore after U29 patch, even in SOLO.

Everything else comes down to your personal preferance and how you like to play. And keep in mind that Build videos on Youtube are Infotainment and include a good portion of overselling to get clicks ("God Mode", "Unkillable", etc.). Use with caution.

But reasonable Gear options (NonMeta) include, in order of Relevance:
    • Mother's Sorrow (Deshaan Overland)
    • Medusa (Arx Corinium, Weapon and Jewelry only)
    • Law of Julianos (Crafted, Wrothgar)
    • Spell Power Cure (White Gold Tower)
    • Light of Cyrodiil (PvP/Guild Traders, Body Only)
    • Iceheart (Veteran Direfrost Keep)
    • Slimecraw 1-piece Bonus (Veteran Wayrest Sewers I)

This is my HealPlar. For Overland I switch out the Resto Staff for Lightning Staff and replace the respective abilities with Ele Drain and Radiant Oppression. And Icehert's Guise when I SOLO World Bosses. That build can do 95% of the content in game.
    I hope I could help!

Or a dedicated SOLO Build, just for the occasion. Using High Elf is the best choice here.

And this Thread should to be moved to Combat and Character Mechanics, please.
