Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Casual "walking" speed almost impossible now. Most speed buffs applying when they should not.

    We have three speeds:

    1. walking
    2. running
    3. sprinting (holding shift on PC/Keyboard)

To walk with keyboard, you need to set up a key for it in the controls. (It is a toggle.)

Walking gets buffed by several buffs, like the Ring of the Wild Hunt and I guess CP which adds to your movement speed, too. It really looks stupid :). All movement buffs should be disabled when walking.

It is even possible to hit the speed cap while running now (not sprinting). I wonder how fast you can get at walking now :).

Walking speed doesn't get affected by any passives. Are you sure you don't have any active movement speed buffs running or slotted / equipped something that increases your speed?

It does though, Steed makes you walk faster.

My thoughts on the matter is that walk speed is too slow. The only people that move that slow are geriatrics (unless they have a scooter), and children (because of their tiny legs).

If I were more entrepreneurial, I would look into developing keyboards with nonbinary WASD keys.

Agreed. I often wonder why, especially with mechanical keyboards being so popular now, there isn't any gaming keyboards with analog actuation of the WASD keys for more subtle movements.

After my previous post I did some searching, and apparently Cooler Master has the idea covered:

Interesting, the placement of the macro keys would drive me bonkers though.

There's certainly room for improvement in the execution.

I don't take any foot speed boosts so walk slowly and run at a reasonable clip. If my elf wants to run faster, she uses her horse.

I take Continuous Attack for full time major gallop and love it. My elf walks her mare much of the time and 60 speed + major gallop while walking results in a fabulous cantor that is just perfect for travel around town or leisurely exploring. When she asks her mare to run though it is very fast indeed and took a bit of getting used to.

    The solution is simple:
UNSLOT the Steeds Blessing passive if you want to RP!

    Reslot if you need it...🤓

There's actually a 4th speed. Jog. Which is inbetween walking and running. You can only reach that speed by using a controller or having a very fast walking.

if you walk everywhere in game at a real life pace then that's a seriously dedicated level of roleplaying :p

Funny you say so, I have one character who always walks everywhere. She has walked through whole zones, entire quests and questlines, all the way across the Daggerfall Covenant, through Skyrim and the Reach, and now on into Craglorn.

It might seem weird, but I've found it allows me the opportunity to truly appreciate the world of Tamriel and really take my time with the quests. It's also nice when a random player, upon finding her ambling across the world, lets go of the hectic to and fro for a few moments and slows down to walk or ride alongside her and exchange conversation. :)

What is supposed to be a relaxing walk/stroll now looks like I'm frantically looking for a bathroom...

The only work-around I see right now is to avoid all passive CP speed buffs, and never train Continuous Attack; forfeiting any use of Major Gallop, ever.

That is exactly how I dealt with it. I removed all points I had put into speed buffs and untrained Continuous Attack. Now I can play relaxed again.
