Does spider cultist boost Destruction Staff Heavies?

Hi all,
Sorry if this is stupid question.
The 5th piece on spider cultist says adds 600 spell damage to Destruction Staff abilities.
Because it says abilities does that mean it doesn’t buff light and heavy attacks?

✭✭Well Penetrating Magic says it works on "Destruction Staff abilities" and definitely affects light and heavy attacks, so it stands to reason that that set would work on them as well.
Keep in mind though, that Destruction Staffs basic attacks scale rather abysmally with spell power after a certain point, so even if they are affected the gains are likely to be extremely small.1 -
