Please just ban the gold buyers.....

Why waste time running around trying to find all the stupid botters, when they can just ban the idiot players that cause the demand for the botters in the first place?

I think its great ESO is trying to take on bots and ban them ....but just thought it might be easier to come at this from the other angle?
If they can find a way to block bots entirely that would be fantastic, but in the meantime they need to put the fear of ban into silly players that buy the stuff.

Someone was suggesting the botters aren't actually making money yet. They're gearing up and stockpiling for later. So, while there are gold buyers out there, there aren't enough to justify the seller population. The sellers are simply trying to push ads in everyone's faces until the money actually starts coming in.

How would they do this? From the bank scandal and lack of ability to track your items, how could they without banning people that got big gold sums legitimately?

It won't happen. Only a few games have tried this and it wasn't very good for them and they quit doing it.

It's not like they don't ban the sellers and the botters, but they just come back. That is the problem with them, they have access to thousands of stolen credit cards and just create another account at the expense of the credit card companies who eventually eat the cost of the account.

Its easier to locate the gold sellers, then buyers. Banning both would be optional, but to be realistic, the botters seem to go first. Those accounts have to be bought and paid for, so you can really hurt these gold sellers by rapidly banning those accounts. If ZOS takes a proactive approach to this activity now, they can make a big difference. With the cost of the game and monthly sub looming over these Gold Sellers, eventually the cost for buying the accounts will outweigh the profits generated by those buying the gold.

I am sure if the effort was put into it they could find a way to verify suspicious transactions, was not suggesting they just ban everyone that gets large sums of gold without first investigating them.

I agree. But that's the problem exposed by the bank issue. They have shown no such effort.

Based on what I was reading (mind you I am no expert on the matter) they are just buying stolen CC numbers, so this is not really hurting them that much since the money they use to buy the accounts is stolen from the start?

I love this game or rather want to love the game despite the rough start I would like to see the game do well, but I honestly have never seen a major MMO with a monthly subscription (that I have personally played) so badly infested with bots like this.
