Blackwood: Door Frames, Window Frames, Glass Pane, etc?

Windows are asked for a lot of course, but it doesn’t hurt to bring the suggestion back up after some time has passed. We currently have glass objects with four sides (display cases) but we do not have a single pane of glass. Obviously it would probably have to have a frame to see them better, but a single pane of glass is better than no glass.

Door frames is a request because I would like to have some structuring to a doorway, and would make it look more *complete.* They don’t have to be tailor-made to the doors we have currently but it would be nice to have some indicator of a doorway.

Frames are also useful and multipurpose; We currently don’t have anything structurally wooden that has an arch to it, except for big spike defense posts. It would also be nice to make custom shelves with, like if I were to make a cabinet then I could choose the placement and size of the shelves. A lot of current bookcases and cabinets actually cannot fit a lot of display objects. Frames could be set in place for windows with no glass and so therefore could be jumped through, or used to decorate a wall, or separate a room into sections, or make shapes and signs. A frame could do a lot of things.

Please make this happen. I think these would be additions that would add so much more flavor to housing.

Honorable mentions that I would also like very much:
-Wooden stairs (I made a separate thread about this alone)
-Spiral staircases (there are plenty in Clockwork City)
-Balcony railings
-Round thin wooden poles
-Window lattices (and lattices in general)
-Flower hedges (Alinor hedges are one of my most used housing items, and it takes a lot of housing slots to fill a whole strip of garden with flowers)
-Roofing tile like from Solitude
-Hills (like a big solid patch of grass/flowers or just soil that can be placed. I use Alinor Hedges and boulders a lot but it’d be nice to have the real thing.)
-Planter (filled and unfilled versions with an assortment of different plants for variety)
-Wooden picket fences

I hope all these suggestions will be seen and considered. Thank you for your time.

For the Solitude roofing tiles, I found Orcish shingle tents seems to look quite good. Of course this only works if you can't see the back, because the wooden posts will stick out.

I like what you did. I’m gonna have to try it. I hope someday we can get a bigger longer piece of roofing though, and it is hard to work with the poles of the shed. Making a structure out of them also takes a lot of slots, as I’ve tried to before for a single building. Maybe we could get a double-sided roofing, so that it makes a triangular shape?

Come to think of it, it would also be nice if we had cone-shaped roofing, somewhat like the new Solitude Well but without the Well itself attached. It’s still difficult to make tower tops, or structures that come to a single point.

Also, staircase bannisters. I have tried to make one before and it is a mismatched hellscape using wall shelves, but we really don’t have much better.

The below image is a screenshot from my Luigi’s Mansion build. I hope that we can get items to make an endeavor like this a bit more slot-efficient.

I think the issue seems be that the ZOS housing team never really thought of people building their own houses. It took years to get walls and stairs. We only got roofs and doors last year. I think they only ever considered housing to be about decorating their houses with furniture.
But I am grateful for the recent additions in this area even if frustratingly overdue.
I really do want to see wooden stairs, windows and... triangle wall pieces! Large triangles of existing wall and floor pieces would revolutionise building capabilities.
All my housing builds are available on YouTube

I am happy to share the EHT save files for most of my builds.

This, this, and this. I am considering posting on my Wooden Stairs thread every day and becoming the Crazy Wooden Stairs Lady to make it happen. 🙂 I’ve also had to try and make the triangular wall to fill in a classic roof pyramid shape and gosh it is hell, so I agree with you.

I also agree that just decorating a given house was the original intention, but they have started to listen to us in some ways. None of the winners of the Zenimax-hosted housing contest would have been possible without custom building. And they have also been listening to us when it comes to more bare plots of land. We are just inching towards the finish line, but I hope that we can advance there bit by bit. (And I’m crossing my fingers because I hear that the Blackwood area is supposed to have a lot of wood interiors!)

If they’re afraid that giving us what we want would make us able to make just one ideal house and then quit housing, then that’s not the case, at least in my case and a good many others. I really like building things and ESO just happens to combine the right look and elements to me. It doesn’t look lifeless and I can combine and meld objects into each other. I just hope we can get the basic building blocks that we should’ve gotten a long time ago, instead of just unique gallery stuff that no shelves will accommodate them anyways, or undercroft totems that I have no idea what to do with. We need more foundational items, and THEN unique weird totem-y stuff.
