Yes. At first. I spent about an hour reading about it and have a pretty good understanding now. When I first started ESO, the old CP system was confusing too. It's really not that bad and just takes time to understand. Just like anything else, it will have a learning curve but it seems to be a positive change to ESO. Give it time.

While there are more stars, it feels like it's easier to figure out than the old one.

Not too bad after you spend some time on it. It is a big change from the old system so it will take some time. This system has much more potential so it is a good change in principle. I'm sure some tweaking is needed over time.

I don't find it particularly complex, you just need to pay a bit more attention instead of just flicking the scroll wheel in all the usual places (which is what I used to do). Some stars are always active, others need to be slotted to be active. The jump points are clearly marked, unlike CP 1.0. There are a couple sub-constellations. And you need to pay attention to which route you want to follow to get to whatever star you want to unlock. That's about it in terms of complications, I think.
PC NA, CP2500+. Character creation is the true endgame.

Three trees 4 slots per tree, bright glowing stars must be slotted, dim stars do not and are sinks. You may have to buy one level on a star you don't slot to get to a star you do want. It's sounds confusing but that's why you have free respec for two weeks. But the end, you'll be a pro.

I've been messing with the CP calculator on eso-hub and it seems pretty straight forward as far as what 4 will need to be slotted per tree. I'll/we'll see officially next Monday.

Anything is an improvement over the dumpster fire we have now. And lets face it around 95% just goes on the internet to find out what Cheesy build they should have this week.

That's what they did with Skyrim that is what the did when ESO first launched and that is what they are doing now. I don't mine what they have moved to, I just think there are a plethora of better systems out there

not too confusing, but very frustrating. You have to put points into BS you'll never use to get to the stuff you want and as someone who only has a bit over 300 CP, this means stuff I used to have on the old system, I don't have anymore because i literally cannot reach it anymore.

It's objectively easier to use because it's been condensed into 3 sections instead of 9 with more distinct playstyles and clear jump points with the removal of fractions. People just aren't use it yet, we've had like 5-6 years to digest the previous CP system. I feel like the question can't honestly be answered properly until people get more comfortable with it.

    Agreed.

A simple suggestion: Maybe just have them always glow/colored in relation to what tree they are in (Craft/Green, Warfare/Blue, Fitness/Green).

After first 10 mins going through all the nodes back and forth trying to optimise all nodes it's okay, I'll be doing it blindly as always in a week or so. Just be patient and read, tree parts are pretty straightforward with themes so you could focus on the ones you need and it's not that much really.

It took a bit to figure out, but I think it actually makes more sense than the last one.

I know I started thinking it was the most confusing thing when they talked about it, but I played with it on PTS for a little bit and it's really intuitive. You might not get a perfect 'this is BiS' right away, but at least it's not a bunch of unwritten jump points at weird numbers anymore.

With respecs being free for two weeks, there is no reason to not experiment with the new system. It makes much more sense once you start putting points into it. The difficulty is mostly finding out where everything is and what the new stars do.

It's like a dollar store version of the perk trees in Skyrim. I'm not confused by it per se... but it does seem unnecessarily complex, for no real reason. Convoluted might be a better way to describe it.

"Ugh" pretty well sums up my feeling on the new CP system. We traded one system I didn't care much about for a system I find even more tedious and time wastey than before.

Even 10+ years ago Bethesda knew to keep their system somewhat simple & straightforward; now (in the year 2021!) we have ESO constellations that meander in all directions, force us to buy things we don't want with points we don't have to unlock things we can't slot more than 4 of at a time... and also there's apparently now a cooldown timer on when we can switch our bonuses around, making the tedious process more tedious. Nice one, ZOS.

Anyway, like a lot of ESO elements, I just can't help but feel like it could have been done better. This new system seems less elegant than the not-that-elegant one that came before it.

Oh well. At least some of the new bonuses available are kinda cool, I guess.

Well, I wouldn’t call it confusing so much as inelegant. The lines seem all over the place and then some stars float outside unconnected by lines at all. I feel like it would have looked and felt better if they’d left each color divided into three constellations, each with a different focus, with your four slottables coming from any or all three.

Well, that's Elder Scrolls for you. Constellations representing skill trees dates back to Skyrim, and constellations playing a factor in builds dates back to Daggerfall.

I've played with it for all of like 10 minutes (have to work this morning)

As of now, it's more confusing, just off the fact that I was already used to the old system. I'm sure once I sit and play with it for a bit I will be able to figure it out. It *does* look like I have a bit more room for creative customization, with is a good thing. Of course, the meta's will get their hands on it and ruin it for everyone else wanting to play anything even a single CP off of that, but I am certainly interested in seeing how this new system plays out.

Takes a bit to get the hang of it, but it's not that confusing. I'm a little irked about the craft tree however, because most interesting passives are slottable, meaning you have to switch between them depending on what you're doing at any given moment. I also see no reason why it is like that, because it's not like I'm going to be super competitive if I move 20% faster on horseback while at the same time able to get better trash from already trash giving chests (lets be honest, 99% of what a chest drops with worthless trash only worth for collecting purposes).

The other two trees seem fine at first glance though.
