So with our mailboxes being wiped soon, what is your oldest mail you still have in your ESO mailbox?

Mine is 84 months old.

The Explorer's Pack 70 months ago.
Honestly not sure why I kept my old mail, but it's mentally impossible for me to delete them at this point.
ZOS will have to take them from me, I'm not going to delete them myself.

My oldest mail is a rant from someone accusing our trade guild GM of creating fake Twitch accounts to artificially bump their Twitch subscriber count and spoof their way onto the official stream team. It's a real gem, and it always makes me smile. I'd be sad to see it go.

Omg i dont wanna lose mails, they really will be wiped? I have old ones, like the congrats ones for hitting certain cp levels on my first toon and i also kept few of the funny hireling messages. Also mailbox is currently full with "rewards" for the worthy.

I think my oldest mail was the imperial edition mail from when the game came out in 2014 or something.

Friend of mine told me to empty my mails, RIP inventory space.
Also quite a bit of transmutation geodes

It's either the Explorer's Pack or the Imperial Edition, I can't remember which came through first. (I think it's the Explorer's pack, because I got the normal version of the game and bought the Imperial Upgrade after setting up my account, but I had both before I logged in first so they might have gotten swapped around.)

Mine will only be about 73 months old however, because I didn't get the game when it first came out. I bought it in February 2015, when they announced they were dropping the mandatory subscription. (Which means getting a pre-order copy with the Explorer's Pack was blind luck. I ordered it from Amazon and the listing didn't say anything about that, but when I got it the code was included and still worked. I guess they really didn't sell many copies that first year.)

Mailboxes are not being wiped.

As of this update system mails are being given a 30 day life, which in the case of existing mails begins from the update and not the original date of the mails, and red highlighting will alert you to when that time is running short.

?? This has been always 30 days for me.
I remove everything anyway after reading but it always had a 30 day timer so I don't understand that other people did not have this.

I kept the oldest mails since the beginning. My beautiful monkey from the Beta, the Imperial Edition... I really wanted to keep those mails or at least one until the servers finally shut down. :'(

Mails from players have always had the 30 day timer, but not system mails.

Weirdly my beta monkey mail is the 4th one in the list, after the Explorer's Pack and Imperial Edition ones. I'm not sure why that isn't first in the list considering it would have been given out first. (I got them all on the same day, but that one is the last of them.)

I think mail from other players has a 30 day timer, but system mail - anything the game or ZOS sends you - does not and just sits there forever.

I came back in April last year after switching platforms at console launch, couldn't bring myself to delete an enchantment hireling mail, now received 71 months ago. Now I don't have a choice.

ps4 launch, june 2015. “the imperial edition upgrade”

mail was received containing the nibenay mudcrab pet as an attachment and another mail with details on the any race any alliance pack and imperial edition details.

of course i claimed the attachments and such, i never deleted the mail. dont know why, but maybe as a reflection of how long i have been on my ESO journey.
i do always delete all other mail though but with mail being purged after 30 days on the update, it will be sad to check mail and not see that OG mail gone just because of how long it has been there.

I have the mail from 2016 when I lost Emperorship. I used to have the one where I got Emperor but I accidentally deleted it, so I kept the one where it said I lost it. Now it's gonna get deleted.....I'm sad 😢

Isn't there a better way to go about that part?

Why not just send the gold and items (if inventory space is available) to your bank instead, then send a "System" email to notify the player of that action. As an example, couldn't this be problematic for buyers/sellers on Guild Traders since they are also system emails? What if a player doesn't log on for 30 days, does the timer start when the message was sent or received? I am sure there might be more scenarios where this could be a negative feature.

I am guessing the new system is about database cleanup on the backend, which is good...but imho it seems a bit shortsighted to be just sending a players digital things into oblivion.
