Buying crowns on Steam to use with stand alone game?

I've got a small amount of money in my Stream account that I don't really know what to do with. I've noticed that Steam sells Crown packs but I don't have ESO via Steam, it's a stand alone installation via the ESO website.
Can I use Crowns bought through Steam with a non-Steam based installation of ESO?
