This, think memory also matter, with 48 GB I did not notice any defense going from HDD to an fast M2 SSD on PC-EU.Seraphayel wrote: »Please specify if you're using an HDD or an SSD - that alone makes a huge difference.
Loading times on my Xbox One X were... long. And annoying. Loading times on my Series X are pretty negligible, I am not even to fully read loading screen texts anymore. Haven't tested Cyrodiil yet, but all other loading screens have been drastically reduced by going from HDD to SSD.

Both games on the same non-OS SSD:
ESO time to character select screen - 55 seconds, in game - 2:05, switching characters - 1:36
GW2 time to character select screen - 6 seconds, in game - 16 seconds, switching characters - 8 seconds
If I remove all addons I can skim another 20 seconds off from character screen to in-game, but it's still terrible compared to other games no matter how you slice it.
edit: I have also noticed that characters with less stuff and less accomplished tend to load in way faster. That seems like something that ZoS should be able to improve upon with some database management.

I don’t know, but there might be something wrong with your SSD. On my Series X the loading times are maybe 20% of your SSD loading times. Is your SSD almost full? Or is it a rather old SSD from several years ago?
I know ESO loading times are excessive on HDD, but SSD should be significantly faster than yours imho.

That sounds about right to me, or should I say that's my experience as well. Depending on your character levels, completed content, achievements, inventory, etc.. it takes a little longer or shorter.
Also of note, wayshrining within the same zone is about 2 seconds. Wayshrining to a different zone is about 6-7 seconds which is very good and about on par with all other games I play online.

1. Starting ESO from the homescreen to the character selection: 40 seconds
2. Character selection to character in game: 20 seconds

3. Character in game logout to character selection: 13 seconds
4. Character selection after logout to login character into the game: 25 seconds
>>> ~ 38 seconds character logout to character login again
Xbox Series X - EU server.

I think Xbox is a bit different, but on PC you:
1. Start launcher, hit play on the launcher screen which takes you to;
2. login credentials screen, hit "login" after entering password which then loads up the;
3. Character select screen, which after selecting and "requesting character load" takes you to a load screen then;
4. in-game
So I measure the 2:05 (1:45 without addons) right after hitting "login" in step 2 and quickly selecting a character without pause until getting to (4).
Well then clearly I want the Xbox log-in server on PC!
Also I have noticed that the loading screens with the pictures (once you get past "Requesting Character Load" are only around 10 seconds (+/- 20 seconds if I have my addons). It's really the character load from the server that takes so long.
Also, just curious if you are comfortable saying, how many characters do you have on that account? I have 10 with only 2 that are sub-50. I wonder if character numbers affects load time until select screen.
