I barely remember any specific quests. I hated anything in busywork, I mean, clockwork city. I can't stand the layout of that map and its wayshrines.

I'm another who absolutely loathes Sun-in-Shadow and related questline.
I really dislike not being able to have an alternative way to solve this questline, and feel basically shoehorned into helping her get her way without any other option.
We could have at least had the option to kill her at the end :#

Or, just a thought, after she gets her *** arrested for murder, we have the option to leave her imprisoned for, you know, assassinating a member of the house, help Eoki with his escape plan, and call it a day. I could get behind that.

    Into the woods is awful.

You have to follow someone but not too close, you need to touch the wisps but when you do you pull mobs and then fail the time

    Rinse, repeat, rage quit.

The worst part is that it's MAIN story line. The very reason that I have only done it on 2 of my 12 characters. That and the fact that Coldharbor is just terrible, dreary and low res.

Alikr Desert. The spider daedra in the mine, and the fact that - even if you've actually smashed Molag Bal up and gotten your soul back from him - there is no way to rescue both of the captives, you have to either trade one for the other, or let both of them go to the spider daedra.

The Sadrith Mora (Telvanni) quest is one of my favourites because the character was an interesting exploration of ambition, self-delusion and maybe stockholm synrome, in the sort of character you wouldn't necessarily expect. There's something not black-and-white, and recognisably human in it. I find stories like this compelling because the writer is employing their deep observation about the world, and how people are, and it causes me to reflect.

I strongly agree with everyone here, though. The problem is the complete lack of agency, and you see it in a lot of other quests, too (a lot of everyone's least favourite quests here are because of this reason). You can work out what's going on early, but you are rewarded for your cleverness, observation or engagement in the world they are creating by being captive to the writer's whims, stuck on rails til the very end whether you like it or not. How I (or my avatar) feels about the particular situation doesn't matter. Someone decided what I want, or who I think my character is, is unimportant.

Its an identical situation with SPOILERS !!!.... the Orsinium main storlyline. The writing in this is actually quite good, and we get to explore really human, understandable flaws in otherwise great people. But the story represents a couple of great opportunities to explore two compelling points of view (the Winterborn's plight, the competion between the temples) that you have absolutely no agency in, because someone decided what you will do for you, and we just have to sit it out til the end.

For reading a novel, this is fine, but its completely unsatisfactory from an RPG, especially an Elder Scrolls one. The unreliable narrator is a great device for not committing to some particular piece of lore, but it works both ways. Show, don't tell. Let us explore the story for ourselves, and give us a reason to care.

At the end of the day, I think its about development values - because if the writers aren't given the time or the mandate to write good Elder Scrolls stories, we wont see them in game.

Yeah, I hate that quest. Most of my characters now just ignore it. Otherwise, I choose to support the Lamia, and I kill every elf I see.

There really isn’t a quest I hate or find the worst, exception to that coldharbour wisp light follow the shadow runner one, but I do find a lot of quests where I’m left wondering, “Why did they make me do this?!” Example:

Fuller’s break, Malabal Tor. Saved the performers. They ask me to get a key to a ship so they can escape. Off I go to get said key. Come back to find them sitting around, flipping coins, eating bread rolls, possibly taking naps. She goes “Yay, thanks for the key!!! Now... can you grab our stuff that’s in this empty and non-threatening warehouse that we’ve been sitting here next to doing absolutely nothing while you were fighting pirates and getting the key? And use the monkey, kay? Thaaaaaanks!”

I sit there thinking, which I’m sure my character would be as well, “and you couldn’t do this because...?”

Since the game forces you to play the savior of every kitten, old lady and lunch box, I don't even bother reading/paying attention to 99% of the quests and just click away and run to marker.

I'm a High Elf vampire Necromancer, I don't care about the plight of the lesser races, at all.

This one I remember still. It was a nightmare. Didn´t help that it was also bugged for a long time and so many players tried to do the same quest.

    [url="https://youtube.com/watch?v=NMTN_3F5xko[/url]

This quest was broken back in 2014. The cold fire flames would not ignite the targets because they were misaligned. People were dying all over the place (falling deaths) while trying to find ways to activate the flame alters. Really hindered character progress.

The one in stonefalls where you drink potion and transform in wisp to pass through wall breaches but the halls are full of ghosts aggroed by other players.

Initially I was going to say that I enjoy all of the quests, but I just repeated this quest the other night on one of my characters and was instantly like "Oh, no, not this, I hate this quest so much!" It's actually not that bad if you go slowly, can find a safe spot to wait patiently for each ghost to move away, and are lucky enough to avoid detection and don't need to backtrack too often. But it always takes me many attempts before I succeed, even when I'm the only player doing the quest at that time.

In general, I dislike quest conversations where one of the options is basically "So refresh my memory-- what's happened up to this point, what's going on right now, and what am I supposed to be doing, again?" That's because I always like to click on all of the available topics in a conversation, which means I often have to choose a topic I've already discussed because one of its subtopics hasn't been chosen yet, so of course I want to click on that "Uh, tell me again what's happening?" topic and any if its subtopics. It makes your character look like an idiot to have a detailed discussion about what needs to be done, then you immediately turn around and ask for the person to remind you of everything that's happened up to now and why this thing you need to do is so important.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Hands down its gotta be Brothers and Bandits

Situation: So there are two brothers, Dariel is suffering from some chronic illness and is basically on death's door, and the Daine is terminally stupid. Dariel is lost in the delve because of Daine's complete incompetence and will likely die without any help.

Option 1: Convince Dariel, who is unable to fight and barely able to stand into leaving the delve for his safety.

Daine: "BuT NoW He DiE BeCaUsE He No GeT CurE!! HoW CoUld U!!"

Option 2: Kill the strangler that may or may not be used as a cure, bring the sap back to Dariel, then escort him out of the delve.

Daine" "WhAt WeRe YoU ThiNkInG? He CouLd Have DIe!! Y U LeAf HiM!!"

If it were an option I would feed Daine to the Strangler, it would probably extend Dariel's live by years by virtue of him not being dragged into horribly dangerous situations while gravely ill.
For Auriel's sake Daine, there is a town across the river with an inn, you could have left him there!! You could have hired someone from the fighter's that is in the town guild to help you, or gotten someone from the Mage's guild, hell they would probably do it for free if they got to study this supposed 'cure'.

What I hate about the Sun in Shadow quest is that she shows up at the end of the Morrowind main quest. So while my character wanted to have nothing to do with her ever again after the quest, ZOS has decided that we're best friends which annoys me and nakes me think we're supposed to not hate her.

For me, Sun in Shadows showing up in Vivec City was what made that quest feel good. It's a celebration, Vivec is there and people are gathering around, but Sun in Shadows is behind a corner alone, badly pretending to fit in but knowing fully well she doesn't.

IMO she calls us friend and invite us over for tea because we're the only ones who still pay attention to her. We are the only ones left whom she can trust - Telvanni in lower rankings might want to kill her to gain status, just like she did, and the ones above her might want her neutralized so she can't jeopardize their position.

I was hoping I could tell the guy who has the pet goblin about what was going on and was disappointed to find out it wasn't possible. I won't do it any other char.

Selene's Web was awful and I wish we could at least slap that high elf at the end of Maarselok. I wouldn't even mind if I got a bounty for it.

Vaults of Madness is another quest I hate. I love the dungeon, but the story makes me angry. The ghosts we help there are the direct culprits for the whole thing happening, they drove the man into madness and we're supposed to free the ghosts and kill the mad architect.

I couldn't pick a specific one. Globally, I dislike quests mainly when:
    - we go back and forth within same zone, with same foes to be killed over and over again.
    - quest is never ending, with each NPC we talk to giving one more thing to do again, and again, and again...

And since many are like that, I can't really identify one worse than another. Very personal opinion of course! My laziness is - as usual - speaking here... o:)
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA
