What was the worst quest you've ran in ESO?

Her entire questline is either us having to execute her maneuvering for her, or cleaning up after her messes.

Ok, but there are other cases too, just think of Verandis for example. It makes it more realistic, learning from mistakes.

What I hate about the Sun in Shadow quest is that she shows up at the end of the Morrowind main quest. So while my character wanted to have nothing to do with her ever again after the quest, ZOS has decided that we're best friends which annoys me and nakes me think we're supposed to not hate her.

But why should we hate her? Because she made her dream come true, with all consequences?

I hate her. She manipulated me, she tricked me into being an accessory to a murder that I would not have chosen to be part of, she got me involved in her political crap under the pretense that this was going to lead to the *only* thing I considered to be of any importance which was the freeing of a slave...and major points against her for failing to recognize the misery of a slave she claimed to love and identifying with slavers in any way. I loathed the Telvanni already and this just made my loathing deeper. I desperately wanted the option to give her a final rebuff and tell her not to call me "friend", she did NOT earn that privilege. I found her to be self-centered, deceitful, presumptuous and completely lacking in empathy, and I reject any association with such a person.

Fair enough. I wouldn't call her a friend either, however, I found her story interesting and her actions consistent. Sure, Eoki was the sad one in the end, but at least he was freed.

Sun-In-Shadow was a super interesting character to me. Not a nice person by any means, but she's a good argument for nurture versus nature. Having been raised and immersed in House Telvanni, she formed her personality and ambitions around their values, and she's just as grasping and manipulative as the rest of them. You don't see that much in Argonians. I'm not a fan of how clueless you're forced to be - I would have liked opportunities to either be like "I am fully aware that you are only focused on advancement, I am a mercenary and do not care, no need to beat around the bush" or "you obviously have no interest in freeing Eoki and you're a terrible person, handle your own business from here on out" and perhaps help him escape a different way.

That timed trial with the Vosh Rakh is probably my least favourite segment in the whole game. I hate timed events, and trying to pull levers while constantly being interrupted by enemies across the room was really annoying. Either it or I have since gotten better, but my first run through Wrothgar I failed it probably a dozen times.

Kulati Mines is another. You may recognize it as the original source of "do you know how long I've been looking for you?" Your two choices at the end of the quest are to free Shagora in exchange for Seqbar or leave the couple to the spider Daedra's clutches. Even if you've defeated Molag Bal, foiled Nocturnal's plans, sent the Grey Host back to Coldharbour - you can't just kill this one random spider Daedra and save both of them, for reasons that are not explained at all.

Forced stupidity and forced incompetence are two of my pet peeves in gaming and as much as I love ESO I see both of those crop up a lot.

It would be nice if the writers were sometimes a bit more brave (aside from making illogical or silly decisions about the outcome of certain situations). So that you may not even be able to finish a quest if, for example, you don't want to work together with Sun-in-Shadow for moral reasons. In any case, more options for the outcome than A and B would often be appropriate.

100%. Your options in a quest are almost always:

    - Who are you again?
    - I'll help you do the thing.
    - Goodbye.

I'm not asking for complicated branching storylines, I just wish we had more choices than stuff like "who is Molag Bal?" Seriously? I don't know who a Daedric Prince is? Even "tell me more about Molag Bal" would be better.

I also find it a bit ironic how so many people seem to absolutely love Telvanni yet an Argonian following their ways is suddenly hated so much :p

The question might be: How do they perceive Great House Telvanni? I have the impression that many people tend to stereotype what the Telvanni are, and these stereotypes differ a lot. Are they sadistic and ruthless slavers? Highly intelligent introverts, scholars who sit in their towers and read all day? Eccentric individualist who live more freely than the rest of the rather traditional Dunmer society, because they don't care for social norms? Your answer to that makes a huge difference.

Admittedly I haven't played Morrowing so argueably my knowledge of the 'original' Telvanni is limited, but imo Sun-In-Shadow portrays their image in ESO perfectly. I see people here complaining how Sun-In-Shadow quest is a Telvanni one but isn't about actual Telvanni, I'd say it's the contrary - it's about the very spirit of Telvanni as it's portrayed in ESO. Sun-In-Shadow shows herself a true Telvanni despite not actually being of their kin, and in doing so, she shows exactly what Telvanni are (in ESO, anyway).

(And if you ask me, Telvanni are selfish, egocentrical (like most dunmer, in ESO, anyway), power and knowledge-hungry pricks. They prefer the type of power that comes from knowing everything and subtly manipulating everyone around them to do their bidding, they're capable of achieving great things in their pursuit of power/knowledge, but they won't hesitate to step over anyone or anything to reach their goal. Just like Sun-In-Shadow.)

Indeed, just a few more choices would make it aready much better. I was sometimes really surprised when there came on a question "Who was xyz? What I am doing here?" a reply in the style of "You're supposed to know, but I'll explain you again nevertheless." That should be the case more often and would be much more entertaining.

I would love that. "Did you hit your head? Or are you just even dumber than you look? Never mind, as long as you can aim a blade or spell in the correct direction that's all I need you for. Let me explain slowly and in basic words so your simple mind can understand."

I don't like the dark brotherhood main storyline quest in general. Not that it isn't good, but the way that it ends - on a cliffhanger, and without several storyline high points explained - just makes the storyline awkward and feel like a waste of time.

The early stages of the Psijic Order quest have you roaming tamriel to tap some nodes. After the first one, which I thought was an interesting novelty, I almost dropped the quest.

For alts, I only do enough so I can see the psijic nodes and collect them.

I don't object to the quest per se, but it really annoys me that I never grt the chance to tell her what I think of her for choosing to leave Eoki a slave so she can get what she wants. She's not a friend and I'd like the chance to stop her calling me friend.

I'd also like a dialog line to tell Tharn that I have a name and its not Vestige at the start of Dragonhold. He only does it once, but its jarring.

I'm not thrilled about the choice in the Direnni acropolis. Either let someone suffer eternally or probably support mass murder. Not really a fan of the whole burying someone alive but making sure they can't die trope.

Yep. Argonian becoming Telvanni magister is actually vey Telvanni-ish thing )
I mean its possible in Morrowind. They dont care who you are if you are skilled and capable and getting things done.

And I prefer to see people as individuals. Of course, the Great Houses all have their tendencies and different values, but there are still members who don't fit the cliché. Normally low-ranked ones, probably, but still. It's interesting actually, that everyone, from every background and race, can advance in Great House Telvanni, while most other Houses would rather not accept a non-Dunmer... and some not at all, without any exceptions.

Agreed. Actually I'm not a big fan of these whole titles anyway. The worst thing, in my opinion, is "hero". Then again, other people might like it, because they feel directly adressed by it, or something.

There's a lot of quests where you can be described as acting for another character... I mean that's quest structure in a nutshell.

While Verandis made some mistakes, I never got the feeling that he was making idiotic decisions, on the idea that you'd clean them up for him. (Unless this is a Markarth thing, because I've been behind the ball on story content this year, and haven't gotten around to clearing The Reach yet.)

I'm currently doing the Psijic skill line quest for the third and final time, I must say I've had more fun trying to get splinters out my fingers.

Long and tedious fetch quests like this one are pretty rubbish anyway but what really makes this quest the absolute worst is that annoying Auger thing that talks to you, holy moly it thinks it's so funny but its really not..at all...like one bit.

Almost finished it so I never have to do it again thank the eight!!! o:)

    Kill 40 players :/

    This comment is underappreciated.

I feel "kill 20 Wardens" is worse because there aren't many around and they are also very hard to kill. The kill 40 players doesn't need killing blows so if you just get into a siege somewhere you'll get there fast, but you don't have 20 Wardens available most of the time. Capture 3 keeps is also really daunting since they need to be separate and if Blue Road Keep or Alessia are the only keeps flipping back and forth for hours and you have no competent group available, that sucks.

    "there aren't many around"...?
Not sure with campaign you're playing. I'm on PCNA Grayhost, I guess over 50% of the population are either stamdens or stamcros... It's true that they're the apex classes and difficult to kill especially if you're playing magicka toons in PvP like myself, but there are definitely MANY of them, at least in my campaign.

Capturing 3 keeps is annoying especially if your alliance already controlled more than half of the map, enemies will be concentrated in a few keeps and it's difficult to take 3 more keeps...

    edit: typo
