PvP has long since devolved into what this video shows: https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/inrvdq/i_get_the_resource_node_bot_farmingbut_crabs/

It's like a bot stack going after mudcrabs.

All they are doing is exploiting mechanics to farm currency. Not even bothering to play the ESO IP, and at the same time obstructing the gameplay of people who are actually here for the ESO IP.

Theyre not obstructing, theyre participating. Its a PvP zone. Regardless of your reason for being in a zone that is PvP enabled, when you are there, you are the content.

Its also false to assume that PvPers do not quest or play for the ESO IP. I have finished the IC questline on 3 characters, one of which was during the IC event. Also have over 400 skill points, thats a lot of questing.

Its a warzone. That is the story, and yes, it is brutal. I'd hazard a guess that its probably one of the immersive zones in the game.

Malacaths is straight up trash for PvE. It's only good for PvP because of crit resistance

I don't PvP and won't. For the items that are in the PvP zones I just live with the fact it will take me a while to obtain them. I only go into the PvP zones during MYM and for IC in particular will only go in when my character's alliance has the majority of players and holds most of the districts. I then tag along with the boss groups as they make their rounds.

Yeah, yeah, I'm sure purist PvPers will have a field day with this, but I don't care. How about such option, ZOS, for PvP wimps like me? Damn, PvP and PvPers are just so brutal!

I feel your pain, man. I'm not too bad at PvP, but to be honest I haven't tried to be serious about PvP in Tamriel just yet. I've jumped into a few Battlegrounds only just a few days ago with the latest Midyear Mayhem, and that was actually just my PvE character. And a Hybrid. I managed to kill quite a few players and to my surprise, even won a few 2 vs. 1 fights, and still managed to kill a few players in a few 5,4,3 vs. 1 situations, before getting my butt kicked myself. I also came across a few players who had little to no trouble with my build, so I'm guessing those were the hardcore PvP guys and girls. I'm sure in the next year PvP will see a bit more of me, because it is fun and I don't think ESO's PvP community is as toxic as some other PvP communities in other games are, because that's never enjoyable. But I do feel your pain. I've tried to hunt for a couple of Skyshards in Cyrodiil and I've tried fishing and questing there a few times as well, but there's always someone who sneaks up on you or drops an ultimate on you when you're obviously just standing there, fishing, or trying to finish the conversation with an NPC. If that was me, I wouldn't engage those players, but I suppose if you're still a teenager, this is too much fun to pass up on! I understand.

Anyway, back to your topic. I think a solution could be:

    Race: Nord.
    Monster set: Mighty Chudan.
    Craftable: Aetherial Ascension.
    Craftable: Fortified Brass.
Everything Reinforced and covered in Health enchantments.
Jewelry: Infused. With Shock, Magic and Poison resistances.
    Class: Warden.
Skill line: Winter's Embrace. Full bar.
    64 attribute points into health.
    Mundus Stone: The Lord.
Food: Anything that gives you 6K health.

Oh, and slot an invisible potion?

This should give you some survivability. I think Arctic Wind would make you unkillable.

    You're welcome!

My man I don't think this will work, really needs some sustain. Lots of health and mitigation is important but resource regen really is king in pvp.

It'll take a few extra hot seconds but people will chew through this build.

What your looking for is a werewolf in chudan, allesian, and whatever else floats your boat (usually crimson).

I agree IC is the most immersive zone in the game by a wide margin. It's driven by player choices not clunky and derivative single track quest chains, and nothing there is unkillable, and everything there is dangerous.

Another issue with your idea is one of pop lock. You want to farm mats, leads, telvar whatever it is you are into, and maybe there are a lot of folks who are of the same mind, and cause the campaign to pop lock a faction because everyone is farming mats or whatever it is there little hearts desire other than pvp. You go into a pvp zone then expect pvp. I'd rather ZOS spend time and effort making the game more stable or providing content than figuring out how to make pvp optional in a pvp zone. And no I don't support a pve IC or cyro... another pvp zone sure.

Struggling to envision a PVE scenario where Malacaths truly becomes a good option, but hey to each their own. I would have also accepted "i want to collect all the mythic items" as a reasonable response. Haha.

I am no stranger to IC, and have no issues with PVP content. In fact, I enjoy it. That said, when I farmed malacaths, I ported into a IC on my PVE mageblade in full trial gear (it was the toon i used to farm the other 4 leads). Solo'ed two bosses, ported out. Didnt see another soul while I was in there outside of the base. You can definitely play to the pop caps and use the map to gauge where the safe spots will be. That lead has a really high drop rate as far as I can tell. I got it again on the next IC boss I killed after completing the ring.

All that said, I will never support removing PVP from PVP zones. By the same token, I dont support players that want all of Tamriel to be a PVP free for all.

On the other side of the coin, I as a PvP player have to kill a PvE boss to get the Malacath lead in IC as opposed to doing something PvP related.
    I think it evens out.

Hardly, your risk is much lower. I dont agree with OP but this argument is weak.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

No. Dont take this from us. You want something from a pvp zone? Deal with it.
If I want something from pve content, I have to man up and learn to do it.

I DEMAND my own special instance of every single vet trial, in which, I cannot die.

I think your problem is less ESO PVP and more that the IC is a feeding ground for the strong preying on the weak. I can really enjoy a good fight, but I despise an ass-whooping (receiving or giving, neither feels good to me). IC is all about the ass-whoopings, the PVEers killing PVEers in dialogue or PVE fights, the PVPers killing PVEers, the stronger PVPers killing the PVPers, the bigger groups killing the smaller groups, the meta players killing the bigger groups.

It's not about good fights there, it's about predator/prey. That's just less enjoyable unless you're the kind of person who takes joy in feeling strong by dominating the weak.

As much as I despise Imperial City for what it is, it wasn't too terrible to get some of the PvE content done during Midyear Mayhem. I can't vouch for the fishing achievements in IC as I find fishing to be depressingly boring and unrewarding, but I've gotten the Soul Shriven skin about 3-4 times by now and the lead for Malacath's Brutal Rune Core was far easier to get than that. The skyshards aren't too hard to reach either.

As others have said, Malacath's Band isn't really great for PvE since it is designed for PvP where everyone builds for critical resistance. In fact Ring of the Pale Order is probably far better if you are inclined to playing solo.

However, If you really wish to complete Malacath's Band (even if just for the sticker book) I'd recommend joining a top-side group. Even if the group doesn't focus on farming bosses, it is likely they will come across one when flipping districts. Heck, I'm a terrible player and an even worse in PvP. So if I can do it, I believe you can too, it just takes some time.

Expecting a considerate response from PVP'ers when you're in "their" territory is too much of an ask, apparently.
There's no empathy, and yet - the forums are littered with tears about changes that impact them.

I used to be a huge cyrodiil fiend, but the game's design with proc builds and no true gear distinction beyond Impen and CP traits - I'm just not interested.

I hope you get Malacath's Band one day. But don't bother rationalising with these people.

Didn't we just have MYM? Literally two weeks of people farming IC bosses in large groups? You could have gotten the lead a dozen times over, easily. Why didn't you get it then, instead of waiting until after and then asking for the game to be changed to your personal preferences?

Have you asked guildies if they would like to group up and try for the lead? Randoms in zone chat?

I got nothing against PvPers, really. It's cool that those who enjoy thrashing and killing other players. I'm just not one of them; never had and never been in this game. Hey, it is however you enjoy this game and whatever gets you through your day or evening. The only time really I ever go into Cyrodiil is to grab vigor and caltrops for a new toon. Yeah, yeah, MMO, sure; but I mostly enjoy frolicking around and soloing things in PvE land Tamriel and helping others calling for help at world bosses, dragons, geysers or harrowstorms.

Now, I'm just trying to get the Malacath band in IC. So, I figured to head in there late at night thinking there would be very few other players and to avoid (or have minimal contact) other players. It's also probably not so smart to head in there sololy, and with just PvE gear (ha ha.) Well, I'm just not much of a group content type player and never really had been in this game. I ran into a few other solo players, but didn't engage. Like I said, I'm not really a PvPer, and just not really there to fight; just hoping to get at a boss that can drop the band lead. A couple lower level players, separately tried to engage me, but I didn't fight back as they weren't doing much damage on me. Then, a mob of players were fighting each others around the flesh abomination boss and also engaging the boss. I had tried my earnest to sting like a bee and dance around like a butterfly at the boss and avoid the other players.

Well, I didn't get the band and a bit later ran into a couple soloists, which I, again, avoided fighting back. As I continued on looking for another boss, I unfortunately ran into a group of other alliance players and no avoiding these folks. They smashed the hell out of me. They were like wild rabid dogs. Ha ha. I then rez to the safe spot, and just continued watching this group going around terrorizing the place. That was it; it was time to call it a night..

So.. what if there was an option of turning off PvP when you're in IC or Cyrodiil; particularly, in Cyrodiil when you just want to go in there for shyshards and not for fighting? Yeah, yeah, I'm sure purist PvPers will have a field day with this, but I don't care. How about such option, ZOS, for PvP wimps like me? Damn, PvP and PvPers are just so brutal!

Outside of the event, with a couple of good pvers, hit up no cp ic. Especially off hours, it's less active because it's harder.
Especially after the event when a lot of people are burned out.

You are one point about it being hard to get. Even as a pvper, I had easily killed the boss 100 + times before the lead dropped. My friend who is hardcore about pve, hasn't had the right lead drop for pale order. RNG worked in my favor, and I swear I had pale order in less than an hour haha.

Wish the best of luck getting it!

Make a NB with vampire , wild hunt, minor expedition. You wont have a speed penalty in sneak. Then stay in stealth except to hit boss with one light attack bow so you can loot.

In this setup you should almost never die, you are too fast and stealth is too strong. Include essense of invis potions for extra protection
4 GOs, and General, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP over the last 8 years

Ha ha ha.. appreciate all the comments, folks. I get it, and I expected a lot of pushbacks from all you more hardcore and dedicated ESO players/PvPers. It's cool. I'm not knocking all your enjoyments for killing other players and being killed by other players all the same. I not also asking how to play PvP or what build I am supposed to use. Come to think about it, it doesn't really matter what great build you think you have, everyone dies all the same in PvP by a bigger zerg.

Just food for thoughts. Like it, hate it, for it or against it, whatever.. thanks for all the interesting feedback and continue to play the game and enjoy it how you like. That is just it. It is a video game, and I can't see this to be anymore than this.

On the other side of the coin, I as a PvP player have to kill a PvE boss to get the Malacath lead in IC as opposed to doing something PvP related.
    I think it evens out.

Hardly, your risk is much lower. I dont agree with OP but this argument is weak.

You missed the point, we all have to do things we don't want to so we can earn what we are after.
Risk is the same as other PvP players are around when killing said boss which have to be dealt with.

If it were not for PvE type stuff in the PvP zones I probably would have never tried it. Turned out I like PvP so I'm glad I had to go there to fish and do other things.

Thank Auri-El that Nirn was not an Fully Open-wide PVP. That would have been a disaster. Keep it locked in Cyrodil for eternity. I could had been far worse with any major, minor landmark or a city being attacked etc.

I think in cases where the gear in question was designed for PvP use it's not unreasonable for it to be gated behind PvP. Skyshards and books and fish and other such fluff that's free and without any effort whatsoever in the rest of Tamriel is a different matter, but combat gear and AP and Tel Var and things to earn PvP housing items, it makes sense to have to do or risk PvP for those, since the PvE equivalents require group content. There are a lot of leads I have not managed to get with a group to do the dungeons for yet but they belong in there since they are epic mythical items.

Nah...let the PVP'ers have their fun. I always thought it was kind of hilarious watching 10 people attack me at the same time while I just stand there...and then get hate messages about what a scrub I was. Strange way to have fun, but whatever...

If you don't like PVP, it's much easier just not to give a damn about anything that goes on there.

I think it would be better if all the master's gear, dungeon sets, etc. were avaiable to be purchased with AP.

IC is a group area, get a group stop soloing it's an MMO play in groups.

For me the ultimate challenge is the leads that drop from dungeon bosses. If they would drop 100% of time, fine. Other drop rates, not fine.

I dont IC myself but i got the lead. I just went there, killed a boss and success on first try. I was afk for a bit before on the streets and i saw a blue player trying to kill me, but he/she couln't kill my afk toon. Then other yellow player came and nuked the blue player.

This, PvP learning curve is very steep as you play against other players, most who has far more experience than you.
In PvE you can start with nFG1 and work your way up to DLC HM.
One of the ways to make it more forgiving is to be in an group.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

No. Dont take this from us. You want something from a pvp zone? Deal with it.
If I want something from pve content, I have to man up and learn to do it.

I DEMAND my own special instance of every single vet trial, in which, I cannot die.
See how silly that logic is?

technically you can solo enter any vet trial, making it your own instanced vet trial.
And as long as you dont steer away from entrance you will be unkillable.
    Awake, but at what cost

If you are so against PVP why do u want malacaths
    Band?

This is a pretty good point, pve builds are heavily crit focused. Malacath isn't gonna do u much good unless you are in fact trying to pvp.

On the broader topic.... A lot of pvers ask for this and pvpers always come back "if we gotta do your pve stuff then you gotta do our pvp stuff."

I think the core of the objection is that people running around IC in "safe mode" would detract from the ambiance of the place - part of the charm is that it's an open world free for all where mystery and danger lurk around every corner. If you can just turn pvp off then it's.... just another pve zone with more advanced dueling options.

There are other more concrete objections - this would make it dramatically easier to farm the zone, so tel var and AP would not really be pvp rewards anymore, which would basically remove all the in game incentive to pvp.

Nahh.. I'm not a crit build for PvE. I prefer more damage build. Yes, to each their own and playstyle, and I'm not going to get into a build debate. In PvE, my playstyle is soloist and I like all damage build for all my stam and mag toons.

Crit build *is* damage build tho lol
