Will anyone still be able to run the solo arenas after these nerfs? Looks pretty grim, trying to farm now to get what I need out of there.

I don't think it'll be an issue unless you're going for score runs, since with lower DPS they'll take longer to complete. If you're just trying to finish the things then I don't think it'll be an issue, just more of a slog.

Well vVH with its DPS check on final stage will be for sure a bit harder but TBH it's more about good planing. Clear those nasty skeleton golems between checks and you'll be ok - these were my main reason of failures when I had 2 or 3 on me while chains have spawned, all because of stupid hit boxes. Without them even with pretty low DPS you will be able to burn those chain holders.

    — They always claim they’re “investigating” the causes, but in reality they’re just waiting until the PC EU players go to bed. Once that happens, you can suddenly log in again and they happily mark the issue as Fixed.

Maybe I'm wrong but there was in PTS patch notes some nerfs to hardest dunegons and VH, so I think ZOS will adjust a little difficulty to new system.

What nerfs? The CP have a lower contribution than now, both because the upper limit on the damage buff has been reduced, and that the base stats are higher and we also get 1k weapon and spell damage for free. Those arenas have a hard DPS check of 20-25k (ex killing Runa in the ice stage in vMA in less than 10s after she drops to 25%, killing the ghosts that circle you at the final boss in Vatershran). If you can't burn trough certain mechanics, play more tactically, ex. kill adds. In some situations those adds are actually more dangerous than the main boss.

Many enemies in Vateshran Hollows have less health. It's in the 6.3.0 patch notes. No changes to Maelstrom, though.

I did 2 runs on PTS with my current live setups on magDK and magPLAR, damage was slightly less, but Vatesharan was still as easy as before.

it is mainly mechs, if anything it may be easier since you will have more native survivability. The CP star that gives you 7% heals on direct damage will be good for solo play. That way you can run a damage monster helm if you were running pale order/iceheart before. The DPS nerfs are not significant enough to matter except for score pushers. Also, if there is extra health across the board, then you can run parsing food and still have good regen

Why does vMA and vVH have to be harder for everyone, so PvP can be better for some?

I ran it today with a pretty un-uptimized pts stam warden and it only seemed tougher because I forgot to grab the stamina essence (lol).

    ... but it's not?

In fact there are so many much better options for running vMA / vVH now. With the mag / stam gain on kill as a red CP option you're not locked into FG / VO and with the max health being 18k+ before gear, you can run lava foot / ghastly for sustain. There are far more options to run different builds in the solo arenas making it much more approachable, especially if you don't have the 2 previously mentioned sets.

Good this, cause FG / VO got nerfed. Love how people here always see a silver lining.

People who can easily do the arenas currently on live will also be able to do them after the patch. It just may take a bit longer due to dps and mitigation nerfs. But players who currently struggle to clear them or barely make it, will unfortunately be left out from this content or have to do normal.

I've tested a build for leisurely farming vMA, not for score runs, on life with max cp (810) and on pts 6.3.2 with 1200 cp.

Summary: In this setting, there's no difference. Damage (measured by time needed for completion) and survivability were practically identical. Ressources were no problem at all. Also, on the pts it was no problem, to clear all 3 crystals upstairs in the final phase in one go.

Though vertical progression (all which helps in vMA like damage reduction, healing, ...) for this content goes roughly to 1800 cp, people with 1200 cp needn't worry if they don't do score runs.

    Details:
Breton petSorc with Domihaus shoulders, PFG (body), perf. Maelstrom Inferno (backbar), 5 pieces Necropotence (to avoid largely the confounding effect of the crit nerf), Ring of the Pale Order (leisurely!) - Thief Mundus

Life: rather standard CP distribution (here optimized for vCR which we are currently running - I was too lazy to change it)

pts: 400 cp in blue all out for damage (40 cp for eldritch insight, precision, piercing, flawless ritual, 30 cp war mage, 10 cp untamed aggression, 50 cp each for 4 actives: wrathful strikes, deadly aim, thaumaturge, biting aura) - 400 cp in red, mainly into max health, armor, recovery for the actives, a bit here, a bit there for the passives (cost reduction for block, sprint, dodge, ...)

    Remark:
Usually, I run with Medusa instead of Necropotence. This reduces time needed for vMA by about 10%. So, we'll feel the crit nerf.

They will not be "left out from this content" - they can work on it and master it just like they can now.

By "master" you mean go through mental calculus to figure out a way to get as close as possible to the something we have today, albeit a watered down nerfed version.

I don't think the upcoming changes will be quite as dramatic as you think they'll be, at least for vMA / vVH. I saw that you posted about the change to FG / VO, for instance - that change isn't even going to affect play in these arenas (and I don't think it will affect sustain substantially anywhere, really). The only reason an enemy would die is in a solo arena is because of you, so you'll always get the resources.

Yes it'll still trigger from any source of player damage! Even if you applied a dot 10 seconds ago, and then 10th tick is what kills the enemy, and you haven't touched them otherwise since then - you still get resources.

I'll add though that I've personally stopped using FG / VO in favor of just slotting consuming trap and wearing harder hitting sets. Consuming trap FTW ^_^

Don't worry. I've done vMA first in May 2017, and at that time damage was lower, survival was more difficult even with the Matriarch (now I use the Tormentor) and it was considerably harder than on pts with 1200 cp. In particular, with the Ring of the Pale Order and consulting one of the available good guides, most people will be able to do it on life and on pts - at least with one of the easy solo classes like pet sorc and if they are willing to invest some time and plenty of potions and repair costs.

I completed both arenas in crafted sets on live (except ring and helm), and I had no issues with completing both on PTS by picking 2 sets out of the bags (Auroran and Winter's Respite) and I am honestly a pretty mediocre player when it comes to dps.

I honestly wouldn't worry so much about. It may affect those going for top of leaderboards but by and large they'll still be topping leaderboards and I'll still be happy with my completes lol.
