Kitty merchant.

I was looking at buying a personal merchant from the crown store. I am always getting loaded up with junk that is worth gold and can't bring myself to just drop it, so I always stop what I'm doing and make for a town. I seen one of these mobile merchant's that you can supposedly just call up to unload your junk.
Are they worth it, do they work as described?

They are worth it, just keep in mind that a crown store merchant won't repair your gear and a banker won't be able to access guild bank/store. You also cannot summon them in pvp areas iirc. But other than that they're super convenient when your bag is full and you're in a dungeon or in a middle of nowhere. You can even quickslot them so you can summon them whenever you need.

Banker might be best. I have the extended bank and that would allow me to sort out stuff when in a town or city. I could unload everything on him rather than just the stuff I want to sell.

I would vote merchant. I wish I had one. My bank gets full and if I'm in the middle of a dungeon, that means I gotta start throwing things away and wasting money.

Merchant I say unless you don't have eso+ and do crafting writs.
Also depend a bit on play style. I use auto loot and most of that I get is stuff I just sell to merchant.
The banker is mostly useful if I have lots of stuff like survey map or siege equipment I want to move to bank.

Note that in groups you can use others merchant and banker.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Having them both is best, but I do seem to require Fezez's services more frequently. If you have auto loot on you collect so much trash, white gear and junk poisons. I make so much more gold after having gotten him because I no longer have to just destroy that stuff to keep going. Best farming friend.

Ezabi is amazing for those "oh nuts I need that thing I left in the bank" moments, and she makes things really comfortable for fresh toons, when you can just retrieve soul gems, lockpicks, XP scrolls, etc. She's great for keeping something safe for you, too. Example: when sticker book farming in a group, you can ploink a piece you really want in her pocket so you don't accidentally offer it to others. >_> Sorry fam I know I've already collected a Mother's Sorrow inferno staff but listen this one is preciiiissseeee!

I have eso+ so my bank is something like 150 slots I think and I don't have a lot stored in it at the moment. It would mean I could basically empty my loot bag into my bank if needed.

    Exactly
You can always mark stuff you want to sell as junk then sell at a merchant
And merchants are everywhere, even in the wilderness :)

Though I have both, if you have to choose one, it depends.

If you wrestle all the time with a nearly full bank, then the merchant might work better for you.

If you don't really have bank capacity problems, the the banker can work better. You can drop stuff for sell off with the banker until you get to town and you can also replenish/stow any banker items. That's exactly what I did until I got enough crowns to add the merchant as well.

It depends a bit on your playstyle, but I think the merchant is far more useful than the banker since you won't keep 98% of the drops you get anyway. For these few drops you would like to deconstruct, sell at a guild trader or keep for yourself a banker isn't really needed. In my experience you can sell dozens of inventories to the merchant before your inventory finally becomes this full that you need to bank. Note that this of course does only apply if your character is finished. For lower cp players that still need to farm sets for themself, level crafting or are farming sets to sell at a guild trader, the banker might be more useful.

When in dungeons with a group, the merchant is called for more often than a banker.
Though if you're overland, you have those wandering merchants all around the place.
I bought the banker first, as it's a useful addition to a home.

If you play a lot then it may be worth it, especially for dungeons.

Outside of dungeon/trial play it's not so useful because (except during this event) you can simply enter an imperial city campaign without queues sell to the merchants in IC (or the banker), or use the crafting tables to smash all the junk up, and then exit IC back where you were.

Which is best I think depends on discipline. If you have the discipline to keep your bank partly empty, and ESO+ to get the extra space then a banker. If your bank is always full and you can never work out where to put stuff then a merchant may be better.

Both have annoying flaws though - you can't do gear repair via the merchant, and you can't access guild banks via the banker. Porting to imperial city has no such restriction.

Merchant you can summon it almost any time even quickslot it and it'll appear only places you can't use it is in pvp zones. It can be used in dungeons and such. You can't buy anything off them but you can sell to them but they won't repair gear like in world merchants. Bankers you buy you can also summon the same way and put items in your bank or withdraw items from bank. It won't let you use guild store or guild bank functions like bankers you find in world but does work for any depositing or withdrawing items from your personal bank.

Also anyone you are grouped with will have access to the merchant or banker if you have them out. This includes dungeon groups.

I get much more use from my banker assistant than my merchant. Swap gear? Retrieve food or potion or lockpicks or XP scroll you forgot? Do crafting writs by reaching into stacks of food and pots in your bank, in any town except Vivec City? The banker is far more useful in every one of those cases.

It depends on your needs. If your bank is close to empty or if you are a subscriber with the extra slots, Ezabi/Tythis would be better. But if you're like me, non-subscriber, running solo most of the times, occasionally farming Public Dungeons you might think Fezez/Nuzhimeh suits you more.

I use the banker more especially on my toons with larger inventory (obviously), but it's really nice to have the merchant available. They're not cheap, but whether or not they're "worth it" is an entirely personal choice, it's honestly just a case of if you personally think they're worth the utility of being there when you need it or if you're okay running off to a town for a bank/merchant (or finding a wandering merchant).

I mean, I find the banker super useful when progging difficult dungeon content because it means people in the group can change up gear if needed and stuff. Helpful!

@Misty you can't directly assign an assistant to a key without addons. What you can do is add her to your quick slotted items wheel. Then 'use' her like a potion. Just remember to adjust your wheel back to a potion (or whatever) when done with the kitty. She won't help one bit when you are almost dead and panic push your potion button. ;)

I believe there are addons that allow you to assign hotkeys to each of the wheel items of your quick slot wheel.
