So I was playing PvP in Cyrodiil for Midyear Mayhem. On several occasions, I've had players running on foot outrun my horse with 60 horse speed and Rapids. Come on Devs? Seriously? Yeah, yeah, I know, don't say it.

My Orc is probably faster than your horse. She does writs for me in Craglorn now, and runs from place to place. She has not been passed. ;)

You do realize that Scroll Runners can't mount while they carry a scroll and have to run practically the length of Cyrodiil on foot with a glowing target on their backs, right?

Being able to outrun horses has a point in Cyrodiil beyond just PVE resource farming.

Specialized speedy builds, which like Varanis Arano said, are very useful for scroll running in Cyrodiil. Plus, a lot of players prefer to run short distances than ride because they don't want to get knock off the horse if attacked.

Or have Rapids stuck on their bar when the addon swaps right before combat starts! I'm always amazed at how well/poorly those things line up, haha.

What do you mean by addon here? when what lines up?

Nightblade concealed weapon + Sneak + Ring of the Wild Hunt + Channeled acceleration every 4 seconds = pedal to the metal. So it's awesome never having to mount on my NB plus I'm ALWAYS in stealth unless I am opening up on someone. A mount? Pssshh nah I got that speed force dawg.

Assist Rapid Riding puts Rapids on your bar when you mount. But it can’t swap skills in combat (just like we can’t do that manually), so if you get into combat with Rapids on your bar, it’s stuck there until you fix it.

Fortunately the entire issue of adding Rapids to the bar to get Gallop will go away with next Update. Take Continuous Attack with a skill point and you get Major Gallop all the time always in PvE and PvP. No need to switch or activate anything.

Fun kinda-related-but-not-gameplay-related fact. Actually in distance runs humans are on pace with horses. Not even joking. Humans are fantastic distance runners. That was our primary hunting strategy actually. We would just run at things. They would get away from us at first then they'd get tired and have to stop but we wouldn't. Lots of animals can outsprint us, but have to stop and pant to get rid of heat. Meanwhile we got rid of fur and evolved sweat so we can dump heat as we go. As far as marathons go, the only land animals that have a chance at beating humans are horses and sled dogs (with the caveat that it's extremely cold out). There is actually an annual marathon (in Scotland I think?) where humans and horses compete against each other

It's Nirn - a lot is natural on Nirn, what isn't on earth - with magic as a natural force a lot is possible what isn't on earth.

i'm still confused by lal of what you said... are you just talking about the ability bar and slotting rapid manouvres? I've never seen it 'stuck' when switching to the other weapon bar and it's common knowledge you can't change gear/skills during combat.

Technically we didn't even need to run. We were pursuit predators. Tag the animal so its wounded, and just follow it. It will eventually die of exhaustion before we'd run out of stamina. Like, the prey would just run away, get exhausted, look over it's shoulder, and there you are.. just slowly walking over the horizon like the terminator.

We're talking about a popular addon for PC players. It automatically slots/unslots Rapid Maneuvers as you mount, and when the timer runs out.

Often, you'll accidentally run over a wolf, or into a guard, etc. which puts you into combat; and if Rapids is on your bar when that happens? Well, I hope you can survive whatever fight you're now in without whatever skill Rapids "temporarily" replaced (because skills on your bar are locked in once combat starts).

It's a minor inconvenience most of the time, but in PvP in particular, those little unfortunates are deadly at times. It's a small annoyance MANY PC players have had for years, but it's worth the convenience of having Rapids be more or less automatic.

Hence all the rejoicing that soon we won't need the skill at all to move quickly on our mounts! Huzzah!
