Merchant "assistant" won't do repairs?!?

Why would I pay for access to a "merchant" that can't even repair my stuff? Even a "banker" who won't let me access my guild bank is bad enough.

This would devalue the crown repair kit.

That would be the #1 reason I would call a Merchant to me in the game is to repair.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I figured repairs would be another assistant.

    Like a hammer-wielding scamp.
    In Alik'r parachute pants.
    Named Emcee.

    Stop. Hammer time.

I had not thought of this, but its the obvious answer. Greed > Gameplay and enjoyment i suppose

I think it goes without saying. If I can sale things but for less then I should be able to repair for more but I'm no longer sure whose making these interesting but lacking ZOS decisions. Other than who we see on ESO live

There's still a less expensive way to repair your goods. They didn't take that away. It's part of the gameplay, and the enjoyment of immersion. If they did take it away, then I'd agree with your statement.

seems they want to make them semi useful. There would be no need to go to banks, buy repiar kits with gold or go to thief dens to launder stuff

Personally the ability to summon someone I can vendor trash to whilst farming is fine by me, I have 200+ repair kits from writs any way, so I can just use some of those out in the field.

I agree, it is definately worth it to just vendor trash when you need too. Although I do wish repairs would be an option, be it with a separate companion. The repair kit's are just anoting to use imo.

I would definately get the vendor and repair companion if that would be an option.

That is correct. What value would anything have if everything was handed out for free?

The lack of repair option makes me visit merchants in random small villages I otherwise wouldn't necessarily pay attention to, which is a nice plus point. It makes you into more of an adventurer! I think if Nuzimeh had a repair option I'd never go to town...everything else I can do in my house. Same with the Banker and lack of guild store listings. Trading hubs need to remain useful.

People buy those? I mean I'll use them if I get some for free but I get the impression everyone has stacks of repair kits lying around to the point where they're memes like lockpicks

No to P2W. Before battle I prepare:
    • Repair my armor
    • Charge my weapons
    • Sell extraneous items to free up my inventory for the loot ahead
    • Eat or Drink to enhance my stats
That way I do not even need to buy the banker or merchant.

ZOS said when they launched the Crown Store that stuff there would never be better than stuff you can find in game.

So the trade-off for having a merchant and banker you can summon (almost) anywhere is that the merchant doesn't repair and the banker only accesses your bank.

Because its nice being able to do that in the middle of a trial so you can continue to collect gear you need instead of white-level trash
