SLI/CROSSFIRE SUPPORT?

yue0707
yue0707
It shouldn't be that hard to implement, should it? I have two 6770's xfire (I know its a stupid decision I made a while back) and running on one GPU bottlenecks my system badly, what's the ETA on XFIRE/SLI support? I heard you can force it using AFR2 on NVIDIA cards but ATI cards only support AFR1. If there's any temp fix for X-Fire users I would love to know.

Thanks for any responses or inputs.

Nothing yet. Nvidia is working with ZOS to get this in, but until someone at ZOS finds the programming manuals and fixes some things, we're stuck without native support.

There's another thread somewhere on the forums with a workaround that involves using AFR2 and altering some of the settings in the user.txt file that may help you.

They can barely get one gfx card working right, let's slow down before we're pushing them to do 2-4 XD
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

Hmmmm... when you're sitting on a crossfire setup where the 2nd card is completely ignored, and the 1st card is struggling because of it, you tend to ramp up it's importance as it's a major playability issue. And, for god's sake, allowing true full screen, which is necessary for crossfire, should have been addressed around Alpha.

I started a thread about this when the game first launched. I haven't seen any Gm or Mods respond to this yet. It's kind of sad really....

Yeah I mean its sad that in the year 2014, SLI/Crossfire still has blotchy support. I'm prolly gonna get an R9 series and maybe in the year 2050 we'll have Mantle support.

I'd ask for everyone input on this forum to keep it posted up because I think this issue needs some sort of answer from a dev.

Actually there is a way to get SLI working..This game has Native OPENGL support. Change the rendering method to opengl in the ini file and rename the executable to Darkathena.exe or Doom3.exe ..RAGE.exe does not work so dont bother trying it.. Voila SLI support.. I cannot guarantee a huge performance increase but it does work and may provide some of you with 2x aging cards some flexibility.. i actually got a decrease in performance with 2 titans but only about 10fps a sec. im experimenting with different profiles in in nviidia inspector and settings. Ill report back

Good luck. But I doubt you will see much of a difference until ZOS implements true full screen. That's basically what Nvidia is waiting on.

yeah the are waiting on much more than full screen support. but i posted the finidng so maybe people with older sli cards it may help for now

This workaround thread actually evened out the load (and temps) on my 690 GPU's and I don't notice any micro-stutter effects. Not ideal for sure. It has not melted my eyes yet any worse than they were from staring at computer screens for 20+ years.

No news because it's a stalemate right now. Nvidia is waiting on ZOS to do their part. I run two 680's, so I'm just as anxious as the rest of you.

It was supposed to have SLI support before release. The nvidia forums were flooded with pissed of gamers, until Nvidia basically came out and said it's not them, it's ZOS.

The real dilemma is that; Powdered doughnuts are overpowdered, the chocolate doughnuts are too chocolaty, and the coconut crunch doughnuts have more coconut than all other doughnuts. This is OUTRAGEOUSLY unfair to other doughnuts!

So from now on, all you special snowflakes get is nasty plain doughnuts...enjoy!

I have two SLI machines running the 'fix'...
    works perfectly! luv it!

still, no 'true full screen' means:
lack of proper AF, AA, FXAA, vsync, EyeFinity, Nvidia Surround, 3D vision,
    SLI, Crossfire, etc etc, etc.

truly curious why the game is designed for only windowed mode?
Ideally Beth WANTs the game to share all hardware/resources with desktop???

    seriously?

    *sigh*

SLI work around for Nvidia hardware:

I have two machines running this work around... excellent SLI fix.

    Screen Tearing/vsync fix:
    enable Aero desktop.
yes, seems silly, but aero MUST be enabled for ESO vsync to work properly. enabling Aero removed ALL screen tearing and fixed vsync tearing.
    many users have reported same.

It totally sucks. But it won't be on ZOS's side. It will be up to AMD and nvidia to provide a driver update to support the profile. They have to have a true fullscreen in the game before it can work with AMD. But it is ridiculous that it has taken this long and still not supported.

I am lucky enough that I have 2 Watercooled R9 280x's OC'd so the game can run Flawlessly on just 1. But the downside is that I play on 2560x1440 resolution and I only hit 50 fps on ultra on just one card. I want to be running upwards of 100-120 to take full advantage of my monitor and flashsmooth technology. If they would work with these companies to release an update to support 2 cards it would greatly appreciated by many. I would guess that 30% of the people playing this game run dual cards. I know all my friends playing this game do. But it sucks that only maybe 25% of them are left playing the game after the plague of issues. But they will return

@ZOS_Ginabruno Could you shed some light on this? I know I am calling on you a lot.
