Why the devs are so quiet?

Many problems reported in the last 2 months and almost no response from the devs.

The community of this game needs answers.

I hope they''ll give the answers soon ....but not too soon...

I noticed this too... they have been awfully quiet since markath luanch and it's a bit worrisome, it's like they have given up on this game. But yet again, global pandemic is still around and it was holiday season so maybe thats why there wasn't much response from them.

ah yes, because 1 studio letter over the course of a whole year is the exact communication we need.

the devs could come on here at any time and talk whilst answering questions like in every other gaming community.

I think it's just a vacation time for devs, there is not much time to rest for them except period between end of previous and announcement of new chapters.

Not a good use of the developers time to be responding to the players in any way. They have more important things to be doing. ZoS has public relations teams that handle the communications with the customers.

If they can handle that, maybe they should start doing so? Cause staying quiet is not the way of maintaining good public relations

if i was in that spot id be in my forums talking with my players not on tweeter , FB, ECT. when i had time relaxing , dont think anyone thanks they should be on 24/7 but getting something said in 3-5 days depending on flow of post would work wonders for getting $$$$$ out someone's pocket over once an year posting an plan to do list

Communications is a skill, maybe even an art. Communications in a large organization should be handled by communications experts. Developers have an entirely different skill set. I agree there could be more communication between the company and the customers. Communication from developers probably isn't the way to go.

This kind of thing makes me happy for the rare companies that actually communicate.

No communication means that they don't care enough to do so. Except for money reasons like crown store bugs.

They can tell me I'm wrong if they like.

I think we are looking at different roles here.

I as a developer think that the front-facing parts of my organization need to step up.

I'm still stuck in the dungeons of impossible expectations, I'm just a coding slave,.. so what do you want the next iteration?

The customers are unhappy, is that my fault as a coder?

Surely it is always management deciding the outcome and should take the blame?

A lot of the posts and comments here that request dev responses are frankly really petulant and some of them bordering disturbing. Many are outright insulting and seem to forget that these are...other people?

Why would they respond to that? It's not conducive to anything, and the community response wouldn't be positive.

They have a pattern of silence prior to the yearly announcements. Sometimes this is due to the answers to the questions being contained within the announcement. Other time's its likely just due to 'distraction' working on the announcements. It is a shame because the community is struggling currently and would benefit greatly from some interaction.

I think a lot of the time changes such as combat changes / performance / bug acknowledgements and progress reports could be done at a far greater cadence but for some reason they are included on the more secretive storyline/new content side of things instead. Hopefully this will change.

Sorry man..but that studio letter is not an answer to all the issues reported.

The community need real and concrete answers ...

Look at the Cyrodiil state ..we still have no explanation about the last changes they made ( about healing and group size).

And there are many other problems/issues reported and no response from the Devs.

A simple letter doesn't resolve anything.

They have a PR team that does this for them. That team acts as a buffer from all the people that will dogpile the devs with redundant questions without actually giving any intelligent feedback or constructive criticism. Most people, sadly, will just use it to vent frustration over problem X they are having. This community also has a large number of players that don't actually want their problems fixed, they just want to complain about them. Something i learned from my time here.

It is also hard for most people to work from home. It takes a type of discipline most people don't have. It's one of the reasons most people can't own a successful business either. Working from home as part of a team also becomes a struggle. You have to change the way you interact with your coworkers. You have to make more effort to be present on calls and in meetings. You have to try harder to keep your focus on the meetings. It's actually difficult for most people who are use to a traditional environment.

While you may have a lot more free time on your hands this year, the dev team probably had to work more. There was more they had to fix, more that had to be sent back and forth between them, more waiting, more of everything.

It doesn't excuse their shoddy work. It should always be quality over quantity. I really think they were just trying to capitalize on the pandemic and people being stuck at home and bored. Gaming, even if you pay for a sub, is the cheapest form of entertainment available as long as you stay out of the premium shops.

Yes, they did. Those changes came about after those few weeks of tests in Cyrodiil to try to reduce server lag. The group size reduction and restriction of healing to groups are a compromise versus the vastly less popular cooldown solutions that were tested.

Wrong, they said the reason behind changes was changed player behavior, not performance. Still we dont now what is expected by devs player behavior in cyro as it is clearly not large scale pvp zone as it was during the release.
