PC vs PS4

TL;DR - ESO on PC good, eso on PS4 bad

I have played ESO on ps4 since 2017. Thousands of hours, and thousands of dollars (probably) spent.

It worked more or less great for the first year or so...and for 2 years has been at best what i would call 'not great', and for the past year it has been almost literally unplayable; laggy, lots of crashes/bluescreens/freezes, and of course the various bugs and glitches.

I held out hope for a while it could be fixed, and recently I was honestly believing most ps4 players didnt have it as bad as I did, and that i just had excessive problems due to my location/internet service (lte wireless connection max speeds 20 down/4 up). I was not happy about this, but I work in IT and understand sometimes there are limitations.

.....

That being said, I recently purchased a new PC capable of running any game at max settings (i10 cpu+3080 gpu).

ESO was cheap, so I said why not see if it's any better on PC.

I wasn't optimistic since I have heard it isn't much different on PS5 or even PS4 Pro vs the OG PS4 that I had.

.....

Now I realize that running around overland grabbing skyshards and doing mindless xp grinding isnt the same as a last emp keep fight in cyro...

But I have played this game plenty to know this is entirely different.

I am not going to spend time describing all the differences, because it can be summed up by just saying this game actually works on PC.

.....

I hope that any console players that are still playing daily realize they are getting shafted.

It may not be criminal (since we all agreed to the TOS), but it is for sure unethical, and if i were an employee for ZOS, Bethesda, or Microsoft - or on the board of directors for any of these companies - I would be ashamed, and would be doing anything and everything to fix this game, even if that meant rolling back updates, shutting down the servers for a time, or even hurting the bottom line ($$$).

.....

If this were a different world, and ESO was PC only and was only now releasing for next gen consoles in the state it is today... it would be a massive PR disaster.

Look at cyberpunk. I haven't played CP2077 on PC or console, but from watching videos and reading reviews, that game literally got pulled from the PSN store and (in my assessment) does not have issues as severe as ESO does.

.....

One last point, as this also made me pretty unhappy though I wasn't surprised - I had messaged customer service, to inquire if it was at all possible to transfer anything from my ps4 acct, specifically said even if i could only get one character and change the name, or some collectables, or...like...anything, and even said I would pay $$$ on top of buying the game and eso plus again.

They said nah fam.

I wasn't surprised, as I know that is the 'official' response, but I thought maybe being a 3yr player, with tons of $$$ spent I might get some extra assistance; especially considering the state of console.

.....

Not sure what exactly I hope to accomplish with this post...

Side note, anyone wanna trade all my stuff on PS4 for all their stuff on PC? Or help me out with some free stuff to help me grind up? Plz?

@xNepo - Sorry I should have specified, I am on ps4na but also PCna. Thanks for the offer though!

@Nord_Raseri - Realized I haven't really played for a year, as even when I was on I was mostly half afk and just BS'ing in zone chat. Was going to buy a ps5, but didn't want to deal with the whole ordering fiasco so said screw it n bought a PC. No regrets. Though I will definitely miss all you guys, at this point (besides the name changes) I feel like us vet ps4 players, whether you love em or hate em everyone kinda knows everyone a bit. Oddly enough, when I queued into cyro to get my skillpoints on PC, i saw toxicnebula in zone chat! lol

My PC died. Family moved to NA. Wanted to start fresh out of frustration timezone difference. It was ok when I started but so unbearable now. Casual player now due to performance issues.

So many name changes. I changed min for a bit, but decided to go back and change only the second portion. Was wondering what happened to neb.

Open a ticket with Sony, posting here does nothing.

You pay for Playstation Plus to play ESO, it's Sony's responsibility to you their customer.

All Playstation players should open a ticket and start filing all complaints, ss, video clips, crashes, etc...with Sony.

Maybe if ZOS has a content update pulled/refunded from the Playstation store they will think twice before releasing rushed content.

I do think Sony should get more involved with what gets put on their consoles. If Sony can tell zos to get it together or get the boot than so be it.

My area has bad internet too (30 down/ 3 up). I swapped from ps4 na to pc na bc my availability to play is not in any time zone for end gamers. First time playing on pc and already chats are constantly going, joined a couple guilds( non end game for now) and they all active. I also have yet to have any problems on pc, no freezing or crashes. Plus all the addons are amazing, some need to be qol for console.

I'd like to trade from ps4 na to pc na as well. I still play a little bit on ps4 bc of some friends so I don't want to get rid of everything just yet

What this guy said... If PS players all having issues reported this problem Sony would have to take hard look with submitted evidence to pull the game and prevent issues with their ecosystem. Until the Xbox and PS peeps stand up... Well you will be dealing with same issues with zero changes.

I suppose you could have a point, but considering one of the major problems with eso is bluescreening, and a bug report to sony is auto generated pretty often when eso crashes I dont think that would really do anything.

The cynic in me says the only reason CP2077 got pulled is it was massively hyped and dropped around the holidays along with a next gen console release. Otherwise it wouldn't have gotten enough attention.

Thats why you must submit a screen shot, videos, dates, & time of the many other problems that don't create the blue screen error report: voice communication bug, black screen dc, freeze & locked, can't connect to server, etc..

I was told of a work-around by joining a group prior to queuing up to Cyrodiil, & this has helped cut 75% issues.

But your group will be a player out as you wait your turn to join Cyrodiil.

If you're the 12th player to join expect some problems.

...as I was writing the above I got the Error 303 picking my toon to play lol

No true knowledge to go on but what I see as part of the problem is the game say as cyberpunk and ESO is it is made and tested on a PC and then just vanilla ported to console. With no real playtime or testing done on console vs. time done on PC.

When the developer is playing the game, it is on the PC UI with keyboard. Also, knowingly that they will enable add-ons to make up for their deficiency or lack of manpower thru funding to improve the base game. Minimum effort to maximize output to make the bean counter happy. I'm sure they want to do more, but it all comes down to time and money same as the rest of the world.

To ZOS credit they do throw console players a bone once a year such as multi-crafting and this year thank god, we don't have to scroll thru styles one at A time in the crafting widows. We can hold down the thumb stick and it will scroll past the styles. It’s little things like this that make a big difference in player experience that regrettably gets lost in translation between PC to console port.

Just wish we could get a bone each update and not once a year.

For me personally I wish I had started on PC vs. console but this being my first MMO I did not really know what I was getting into. Now years later thousand of hours and lots of money I am too far down the rabbit hole to start over. It comes to that I would just quit and find something else to play. Not starting over but think you are brave to do it. Just to old and stubborn myself. Hoping one day for a transfer option but not holding my breath waiting for it.

Stay safe and have fun. :)

in 3 days i well be hitting my 9 month mark on PC/NA after playing for 5 1/2 years on PS4/NA

when ESO 1st hit PS4 the game ran so good that for the 1st 2 years i had no need to even come in here lol but 2 1/2 years into game we started seeing the bluescreens and lag , given its now 100xs worse off then it use to be but the fact that ESO/ZOS has done nothing to fix it but make it worse over 4 years is just bad all around

when i 1st came to PC 9 months ago there was alot of bugs going on , 3 or 4 weeks into my time all bugs seem to be fixed yet pvp is unplayable due to skill delay then idk my 4th month testing happen and pvp skills dont have much delays but lots of lag / frizz ups / kick to load in screen, but over all everything pve runs great tho it could use an power lift so that playing pve would be fun again

For me, its the addons that are the game changer. Its so nice to be able to just focus on the quest or mission at hand.

    IMHO
