Hi community,

I would like to ask your help for a new/updated hardware PC configuration. As last years with babies and other stuff I stopped following news on this field I will be very happy to have your opinion and advice.

here is my current config:
  • Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz
  • MB ASUS PRIME Z370-P
  • RAM 16.0 GB
  • GTX 1060 3GB
  • NVME 500 GB main and SSD 300 GB second drive

I was thinking about keeping ram, drives ,maybe changed MB and CPU, also potentially going with the new GTX generation as it seems really good, what do you think? what will you choose and why?
Also maybe something really good will come soon and time to wait a bit??

Thanks for your help!

    Forgot to mention that I got a AOC Q3279WG5B 31.5 display, 2560 x 1440 resolution.

If you run 1920, your rig will spank this game. At 2560, you might have to drop some graphics quality and view distance. Of course 1920 looks like crap on a 32 inch, so maybe dual monitor it for the games you have to play at 1920.

I shopped recently for a new rig and the current prices of video cards has stopped me cold from going 2560. Spending $1500 on a video card is nuts, if you can find one. Blame Bit Coin and other Crypto-Currency Mining for that.

So, my advice, is, play with what you got, other than some games like CyberPunk2077, you should be able to play anything out there with decent performance/quality at 2560 and great performance/quality at 1920.

Maybe, if anything go for the mid pack video cards on this list. Note, my current card, the R9-390 8GB is ranked at 27% and I play every game out there on Ultra at 1920. Get up in the 50% range, and 2560 could be your oyster and keep you solvent, or at least in Ramen and Formula.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

@Nestor thanks a lot for your feedback, I think that is a really good idea and I will try that first before thinking of a new gear.
And anyway I've cheeked lot of store and every piece that I like are out of stock...so no choice :)

    Have a really nice Xmas!
