Question about currency and inventory re: tickets

Okay, so if tickets and transmute crystals are both limited-space currency items, and people's inventories get filled up with transmute geodes they can't open...why do we *lose* event tickets if we are at or near our limit and we loot or complete a quest that delivers tickets? Why does it not give us the clunk of denial sound and tell us that our space is full and we can't collect tickets right now? I mean it would suck for things where you have to loot a mob or something, because it might despawn in the time you run to the impresario, but for New Life it would be a lifesaver.

    It is how it is.
Can only hope for devs to change it, but if it's been like this for years... doesn't seem likely.

I didn't know about it and lost a few days worth of tickets during the undaunted event cause I was at limit and wasn't aware of it.

Did ask Support of it, but there is no refund of tickets that are lost in this manner. (bet it would be different if it was crown-purchased tickets)

Event tickets, transmutation crystals and key fragments are EARNED currency and shouldn't be capped or take up inventory space....my opinion

They do it because you can purchase them from the Crown Store. At least that's my tin-foil hat guess.

Earning 3 tickets per day and having a cap of 12, while most items from the Impressario costing 5 or 10 tickets per, can cause a sense of urgency to min-max ticket gains and usage during the events for players, to ensure that you're not missing out on getting what you want. For some people, if they accidentally eat one ticket, it throws a wrench in their plan, and to recover they have to buy tickets.

Another (more logical) theory is so you don't farm tickets for the next event and just buy everything out of the gate, and then ignore the event for the rest of the 2-3 weeks.

Reasonable guess: The two systems were designed by different teams who had different ideas about how it should work.

Cynical guess: they don't sell transmutation charges in the crown store so they don't care if you can stockpile them, but they do sell double space to store them as charges via ESO+ so they want extras stuck in your inventory where they might be annoying.

Honestly I think the second one might be a result of the first one, but might also be an incentive for ZOS not to 'fix' either.

I agree. Event tickets should come in "ticket geodes" that we keep in our inventory until such time as we choose to open them to add to our currency tab.

I like this idea a lot.

If the tickets were inside the first reward box of the day it would resolve the complaint.

I like this idea a lot.

That defeats the purpose of participating in all the events, though, @redspecter23.

Let’s say a player doesn’t like the Summerset Event ... all they have to do in your example is get their “ticket geodes” out without having to do any activities related to the event.

Some of the other ideas in this thread are pretty good, though ... such as an audio warning if a player is at the cap and about to loot tickets.

I actually agree with you completely. I'm just drawing the comparison to the other capped currency which is mentioned here which is transmute crystals. There is currently a way to bypass the cap on transmutes using geodes, making the cap near useless. If it's good enough for transmutes, it's good enough for event tickets.

Will it happen? No. But it highlights the absolutely poor design decision behind transmutes, geodes and the "cap".

I also agree that a few safety nets to make it harder for players to miss out on tickets by hitting the cap would be welcome additions.
