As far as I know there are no 'trial' accounts in this game, and as far as I know only one character at a time can be played per account.
Some people say they're stolen accounts, I don't buy that. Sure, a few may be, but most I've seen one look at the account name (ACCOUNT name, not character name) shows they're not at all likely to have been created be 'normal' players.
Moreover, if accounts had been stolen on a large scale then these forums would be flooded by reports, just like other MMOs where this happens. I've seen no credible reports posted of account theft.
So, to me this means most bots and spammers are individual accounts which has to be bought by the RMT behind them: the revenue to ZOS would be huge.
Now, I'm not one of those who say ZOS aren't doing anything because they want the revenue, such a comment is patently absurd, but I DO wonder how RMT are able to continue to acquire accounts in such large numbers and why ZOS are unable to stem the flood.
There aren't many RMT outfits in the world of MMOs and the few infesting ESO (I've seen only three so far in the spam I've receiver) have obtained enough accounts by now for ZOS to know where they're sourcing them from, so shouldn't the flood be slowly dying down?
