"Class identity isn’t just about power or efficiency. It’s about symbolic clarity, mechanical cohesion, and a shared visual and tactical language between players." - sans-culottes
My personal experience with the event has been fantastic so I am sorry to hear that you have had problems.
It's provided a perfect opportunity to farm the Stonethorn dungeons (and other DLC dungeons that often have a queue... even as a tank) and my dozens of runs have all gone smoothly no matter if they have elite players or newbies.
Most of the Opal styles do not appeal to me but I have been able to buy the few that I do want with tickets.
Elder Scrolls games tend to not do a lot of hand-holding. Reading information from npcs, in-game books, loading screens, and your journal can make things a lot easier. You seem to be running into more issues than most, however.
Finding a good guild instead of relying on random pugs would eliminate a lot of the "run ahead" issues. Not every player with cp points is a thoughtless tool.
The "problem" is that this is an MMO, therefore anyone who wants to play the game needs to share the game world with other people who want to play the game. And people are people, so you're going to run into some really great people who you love playing with, as well as some really toxic people who you want to avoid as much as possible, plus a lot of gradations between those two extremes.
Note that when I say "toxic," I'm talking about people's attitudes and behavior toward other players, not about their chosen style of play. You can be a toxic "casual" player or a toxic "veteran" player, a toxic "slowpoke" or a toxic "speed-runner," a toxic role-player or a toxic observer, etc. You can be toxic toward some kinds of players but not others, etc.
You can, and should, have fun by playing the way you want to play without being toxic-- unless deliberately being habitually toxic toward other players is a part of the way you like to play, in which case I'm pretty sure that's a TOS violation and you very probably need to be reported, investigated, and banned for it.
The best you can do is just mind your own business and play the game the way you want, try to seek out like-minded players to share your game experiences with, try to avoid and ignore toxic players, and try to be pleasant toward everyone. As the saying goes, "If you aren't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem"-- so try not to be part of the problem by being toxic yourself. And since we're all human-- yes, it can be very difficult sometimes not to get nasty with someone you've lost your patience with. But adopting that as your everyday attitude and normal mode of behavior is something to avoid.
