This is painfully true. Of course almost everyone on the forums is going to be a millionaire, it represents the most dedicated and long-term players.

The longer you play, the more gold you accumulate. Crafting writs is a huge part of that. When I started out I was only doing writs on one character for ~4k gold per day. Now I do it on 4 characters (in about the same time, thanks to some addons) and make ~20k per day (6 writs went to 7 with JC).

On top of that, being in trading guilds + simply knowing what sets sell well, I can just list hot items I happen to accumulate for prices I know they'll sell at. I'm sure I decon'd tons of these items when I was starting out.

Gold comes with time basically. Unless you're a motif / housing find, you'll accumulate quite a bit as long as you've been playing for a while and make new characters every so often / do crafting dailies.

15.4 Million gold as of today. In the past I have spent at least that amount. 75-80% is farmed mats. I also do writs and save my surveys to do all at once. It seemed a lot harder 4 years ago to make my first million. Now gold making seems easy, and i don't really have anything to spend it on. I gave up on collecting motifs - wasn't fun anymore.

I don't really have anything that I spend gold on, so I just hoard it.

lucky to have more then 5k at a time. always trying to make some off meta build to work,always failing at doing so. always finding that the obscure set i need to buy is priced obscenely,trade guilds be wanting dues when I can barely afford to buy set items let alone tempers lmao.
have a bunch of sets taht I could be selling on said guilds but end up deconning them instead. but meh. such be the life of the theorycrafter. or just a dumb theorycrafter like me hehe

I do:
Writs on multiple characters
Dailies that reward motifs
Fish
Run, not ride, so I can harvest nodes along the way
Loot everything
Craft furniture
Craft highly sought after foods
Keep an eye on traders for bargains
... then sell them all on high quality trading guilds.

Looking at these poll numbers I feel I am eligible for provisions food stamps.

At the moment a bit under 30M, will probably go up a little more but once I start work again early next year, I won't be doing my writs daily and won't be selling much so it will start going down again.

Sitting with 12 mil in the bank because I'm a skinflint and refuse to buy anything unless I can get it cheap.

I have about 25 million distributed across 16 characters.

My gold has stayed at that level as my markets have slowed down recently and my motif and gear acquisition (for all 16 characters, they're not mules) has been in equilibrium with my income.

I do 3-4 of writs on each character and, for all of those who avoid it, it really isn't that difficult (~20 minutes each day).

My advice for anyone wanting to earn gold is to spin up your alts (even if they are just placeholders for characters that you want to flesh-out later) and do your writs with them. Then find one small niche to flip items in and stay on top of that one small niche. That will earn you very nice gold while not overwhelming you with having to play the markets rather than the game itself.

Like in real life, I save my money and crowns.
