I could see people getting triggered by this kind of emot. Not only do people over react to stuff, others look for ways to cause trouble.

If they did it would be like an air hug or something, because someone, somewhere, would raise issue with player/character consent to being hugged. You know it. I know it. It would happen sooner or later.

It should happen, but it will look like we are hugging ourselves. No emote directly interacts with another player for a very good reason.

It would be very challenging to make it so we actually hug another player, or NPC, without taking control of their character for a moment. That is not going to happen.

Yes having two npc hug would work but something including two players I don't see how it could work as they have difrent size and the target might not cooperate.

There is a sub-culture of players that actively harass RPers. They would pay lots of crowns in order to get that emot.

Difference is both players agree to duel. Working with line of thinking though covering another player with mud is okay but hugs are not...

Turns out though my characters share some of my characteristics. Didn't realize it but they all have a large personal space. Some other players character stands to close to mine and I have to move over some. So I'm thinking if we get a hug emote we should also get a knee to the groin emote.

The problem with the hug is you need a hard coding to make the two character hug each other. The hug must be animation breakable or unbreakable. If the recent then its easier. Your character wont be controlable till the animation is not over. If the first. Then they must solve that the game not breaks from the break which is once again hard to code since eso does not really have animations were two different actor is together.
Sisters hug in summerset is scripted, as well the big enemy holds up the small in dlc zones. There should be 1-2 other but those are also scripted.

Agreed. There are already plenty of topics here on the forums being seriously offended over mudballs and NPC's burping too much, literally asking devs to boycott them from the game. Hugging would probably cross a line somewhere and the personal space of many players digital bubbles and get the same treatment. I'm sure I'll offend somebody here by saying this, but unless you/someone is TRULY being harassed it's a lot easier and faster to grow some thicker skin and move onto something else (inside or out of game) instead of expecting the devs of game(s) to meet every single persons standards because something is just simply "not liked".

This, now try to use the blade of woe and you see some pretty weird stuff as the target is nor synchronized because they are walking or doing other idles.

That would be hilarious. An easter egg could be if you /hug someone there is an RNG chance they would auto /fart from being squeezed

I came up with the idea that emotes involving two actors would use synergies. The initiating character would start the emote which would then create a synergy for nearby players. When a second player would activate the synergy they would become a part of the animation and complete the hug.

That way it's not forced on anyone.

at launch it did exist, yes it did. i know because i remember i hugged my ingame wife.
all i did was position myself facing her and typed in

/hug

maybe it was removed from the game but i used it for a while back then and maybe it was removed, but it used to exist.

you had to be really close to the other person, like "face to face" close.
but that was 2014 just out of beta.

Speaking of the hug emote it'd also be nice if the Alinor dance has its animation fixed so that when two characters are doing the dance in front of each other they don't phase through each other. Its a partner dance that isn't properly animated to actually be fully usable as a partner dance.
