The issue happened with the optimizations done with Malcarth, as other says it happen a lot on some dungeon bossesZathrasParadox wrote: »The developers don't even know why the game is broken. I imagine if they did then they would also know how to fix it. After today's patch I've been getting nearly continuous bluescreens. I can't do anything in the game without crashing. It is far worse than it was before the "maintenance patch"
But at least we can use chairs now.

Don't think its the buffs changes, more likely optimizations who was supposed to reduce load during huge fights as in trial trash fights or huge battles in Cyrodil.Zodiarkslayer wrote: »So I experienced one (!) crash last night during a Vet Random on the last Boss in vBC2. He has scripted text, movement/ animation and if I recall correctly also a visual effect when he enters. I am not sure since I didn't see it last night.
At the start of the fight the game froze severely and did not crash to DESKTOP! After I Crtl+Alt+Del I could bring up the explorer but then couldn't shut down the program or crash it intentionally. Since I could simply reboot via explorer, I have to assume it was the Video Card Driver, that was overwhelmed from the visual effects that the script of Rilis's appearance started.
It was my 2nd crash/freeze at all with ESO and they both were after Markarth DLC released. The other was pre hotifx in Elden Hollow 1 or 2 (?), where you need to wait for some NPCs to destroy some altar and my group just rushed on and started a fight. Just as the the visuals of the fight were starting to animate my game froze. Again a scripted event with scripted visuals, that got interrupted by other visual effects.
So the natural conclusion for me is, that they changed something with the patch they intended to, but couldn't foresee all its effects. And they need time to isolate the problem properly.
It might be the buff system changes, it might be something else. Or even a combination of several changes together, that would only appear after going live, because the mass of people on live bring the several factors to occur together more often.
I don't understand why people get all aggro against ZOS. I mean: they are trying to fix it! What more can you expect?
Some say it's outdated add-ons
Some say it's outdated drivers
Some say it's trying to put a band aid on old, broken code and a dying server
Some say it's because you forgot to sacrifice a virgin on the last full moon
Nobody knows
