I have never had queues in this game that were as fast as WOW. In WOW I usually wait 8-12 min as a DPS. In ESO I hit the 35 minute mark a LOT.

I usually leave queue and requeue at 45 minutes.

Well, I've been doing afk stuff so I didn't really notice how long it's been at first. Then I thought, well it's been so long it *has* to pop any second now lol

    Welp

In WoW if I was queuing alone as a dps I usually ended up waiting 30minutes to an hour. Never had that happen to me in ESO before lol. In fact I usually wait longer to get into a battleground than a dungeon.

lol This feature breaks often, as does the game in general. Welcome to ESO. Don't expect it to be remotely as optimised as WoW.

I find that amazing that your queue times in WOW are that long. Never in 15 years of playing wow did I wait that long as a DPS, even when I was dead servers. Their cross server play solved any dungeon or BG queuing issues. I am curious why my experience does not match yours.

However, in ESO I have had 30m+ queues for 3 years now. I sometimes get lucky and get a fast queue, but its because someone dropped.

What realms did you play on? I played for 11 years, first on Azjol-Nerub, then Lightbringer, then Thrall, then Silverhand...

Maybe I was just never on a high pop enough realm. But I felt like Lightbringer and Thrall were always busy. And Silver-Hand after the merge.

But yeah...as a lonely arcane mage...those queues really sucked

Started in 2004 on Sargeras Horde.
Played on Dalaran Horde, Emerald Dream Horde, Emerald Dream Alliance, Hyjal Horde, Wyrmrest Accord Alliance and Horde, Thorium Brotherhood Horde, Illidan Horde, Tichondrius Horde. I had a High Warlord Hunter (he is now a Mechagnome, so a Grand Marshall). Also played Arcane Mage, AFF and Destro Lock. In TBC I played a holy-ret paladin "Shockadin". Really too much to list.

Not when I played on them and not even ATM.

For example. Wyrmrest Accord is high pop, HORDE..alliance is dead and I play alliance. Dalaran was dead, I think it was merged when I played on it. Thorium Brotherhood was dead, it was merged.

Server pop has little to do with queues due to battlegroups and cross realm instancing/queuing.

If I notice the queue does not hit after 15-20 minutes I just leave and re-enter it. Rare I wait over 20 minutes to get in.

Honestly with the random normal giving a 10 geode now the queue are less than 3-5 minutes. Which is a great thing.

Be safe and have fun :)

lol This feature breaks often, as does the game in general. Welcome to ESO. Don't expect it to be remotely as optimised as WoW.

Would it not be way easier to have an LFG board where people interact with each other to form groups? That doesn't require an algorithm to match people and you could actually be as selective/inclusive // slow/fast as you want to be because you can have the right group comp for that.

I mean I have a guild(s), it's just odd for everyone during the work week.

But I've also seen and heard others verify that sometimes you still wait in a queue even with a group of 4

I haven't play WoW since I only play PS4. I don't do PC games. It's too bad WoW hasn't been release for console. I would take a break from ESO's symphony of crashruction, if ever WoW is available for PS4. Anyways, same queuing issues for ESO have been going on for years. There have been multiple patch attempts and promises (cough, cough) made for fixes and improvement. Well.. Ha ha.

Gotta give the ZOS and Bethesda crew some credits for trying, though, and the hard work they have been doing to maintain such an expansive game for this long. However, not sure how the internal working are with Bethesda and ZOS for the game is constantly and continuously bugging, lagging, glitching and crashing. I'm guessing it's probably quite a task for them to tackle the issues with the game being so immense and more DLCs and chapters are being pushed out as expansion adding on the issues.

Last night I qued a semi-group of dps, healer and tank for a random normal. Usually when it isn't instant pop in those situations I just leave que then reque and it works. This time however, I must have requed three dozen times to no avail. We passed lead a couple times and requed, reloaded ui, rezoned, even tried roll dodging, all those typical ESO fixes didn't fix it.

part of the difference is that in wow group is 3 dps rather then 2 of ESO. makes dps queues pop a little faster. and then there is also that thing where you can select more then one role (if you class can perform them) ESO used to have that, but apparently default option selected all 3 roles and too many people would end up slotted as a role they didn't know how to perform without realizing, so instead of doing what WoW did and deselect all roles by default so that people had to manually select them before queueing up - we can now only queue up as one role at a time.

but... group finder is also broken, just mean that even when its working, queues for dps are going to be longer in ESO then in WoW for above reasons.

I would not expect it to take so long if queued for a random normal, but as others have said, the group finder sometimes has problems and beyond that, several dungeons cause crashing so I would guess there are fewer people queuing (I’ve not tried doing any dungeon since the 16th as I’d rather wait for them to be fixed).

I heard from some people group que bugs sometimes.

Though this issue certainly does happen and I would think that would be an indicator to ZOS's devs to try and make tanking and healing more meaningful / fun.

I mean, I did max restoration while leveling up so I could heal myself, being a baby clothie and all, and I have extra skill points that I could use to backbar some healing abilities...but idk 😐 I think I would get votekicked haha.

Maybe I'll just level a healing sorc, so she'll have the right champion points lol.

Yes, and this morning I see a bunch of threads reporting group finder broken so that is probably the issue here.

I think that tanks are the limiting factor — the role is certainly meaningful but it is also the most challenging as you really have to know the encounters on another level to make sure they go smoothly.

I think lots of people play healers, myself included, and I do enjoy it, especially when the content is actually challenging for the group as a whole (I actually like the role least when playing with elites that go through the dungeon like a hot knife through better and my buffs, much less my heals are superfluous, but hey, at least it goes quick).

I think another aspect is the new sticker book feature and the 10 transmute stones per random dungeon completion causing people to make multiple alt healer/tank toons to farm the transmute stones.

I know I have been doing it with healers. I had 4 or 5 extra character slots so I made them into true healers. Dolmen raised them to level 10 now pump them all through the random GF once each day to get those stones.

In addition to ZOS obviously breaking GF, I wonder if there is a growing surplus of tanks and healers (hopefully not fakes) lining up for the queue.

I guess it depends. my experience in WoW varied depending on the level of an alt I was playing (so different dungeon selection) as well as which alliance i was playing at any given moment. but most of the time, queue times were generally shorter then ESO. YMMV. (then again, I pretty much have given up queuing up as dps in ESO and if i'm pugging, its as a healer)
