Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Are the double node drops a cover for a huge number of disconnects in game - or is it just me?

You click "join" and it sends you to the Crown Store, where you dig around trying to find a non-existent event starter quest.

Or maybe they just want you to buy XP scrolls to stack with the double XP.

Sorry, misread that. Disregard this reply.

It did strike me as completely impromptu morale booster, since it isn’t an actual event proper (no tickets, no Impresario) and has no precedent to the best of my knowledge.
If you complete HoF, it shows you get an event ticket from the quest NPC, but you don't actually get one.

They are probably to keep peaple in game and not have them pulled into a different viking experience. I'd expect a similar event around Dec 10 too.

How can any event be a cover for the game performing poorly when the event is designed and intended to get people to play the game more.

BTW, the event is more than just double drops. It is a sales pitch to sell more DLCs/the current chapter.

A sales pitch? Whose the marketing manager? Did they used to run Chernobyl?

You see the game just from your perspective, I guess. But a whole lot of people aren't doing endgame content, but normal overland activities, questing and normal dungeons - and all this works quite well. And especially for new players the game has improved in many ways. I just started a new character and I have to say, ZOS has done quite a bit to make the game more accessible for new players. Newbie regions are quite crowded as well, the game is in a good state revenue-wise and for those just playing casually, it has just a few quirks here and there, but runs otherwise quite well.

Your perspective is different because you play it in a different way - but for most players it runs pretty good (beside loading screen time eventually, but even that has improved). If I would be new around here, I would consider it "well made" and nothing like you guys describe it here in the forums. It's just your perspective, which might not match how most players experience the game - otherwise it would be rather empty already - but it's still thriving as far as I can see it.

Might be the same issue as the crow daily quests who also indicate an ticket.
It was an bug who actually gave tickets for CWC dailies and probably other stuff like HoF.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
