Too many players=No plunder skull or boss loot.

This happens every now and then in high population dolmen or World boss.

If World boss has more than one mob to damage, you seem to need to get enough damage to all of them, so very high number of players oon 3 mob boss encounters seems to mean than when boss goes down in seconds and even if you appear to do damage on all of them, you do not. You get some loot from one of the mobs but no skull. Never happens when there is "Reasonable" number of players.

On Dolmens, this is more like a norm that it is a once in a while thing. You need to do dolmen on high population dolmen a few times to get that actual skull or boss loot. The boss dies when it spawn in second or so. i seem to get a hit on it but thats not enough because when daamage registers, the boss is allready dead.

Naturally this can be rectified by doing these things on low populated dolmens or bosses or delve or whatever, but im curious is this happening to other players as well? The characters i do this do decenbt damage and stuff but if its matter of boss dying before yor hit is registered on the system, you naturally do no damage and receive no loot. Might be a problem for high latency connection and people who cant do things in small groups or solo.

There has always been a cap on amount of players for getting loot. I believe the system is based on the amount of damage you've done. It's most notable in the IC sewers.

    Yes this happens to everyone.

My usually approach to events where the tickets drop from bosses is to pick 1 and park a low level alt there to kill the boss once a day to get tickets and some XP for the alt. This system means I sometimes have to try 2 or 3 different ones to hit the right balance between bosses which hardly ever get fought (annoying because I can't solo them on a low level alt and I don't want to wait ages) and ones which attract too many people so I never get loot.

It's easier when the tickets come from a quest because the barrier for getting credit for participating in the quest seems to be much lower than for getting drops directly from the boss, so it doesn't matter if there's tons of people there.

Although I'm glad it's not like at launch where if you were in the building, or within about a mile of an open-world boss when they died the quest would update. I missed big chunks of some quests, including a few fairly important plot twists, because I'd enter the room just as someone else killed the boss and then the quest would update to the step after that and I'd have to abandon it and start over (hoping it didn't happen again).

somehow loot depends on participation(not only damage) you deal. so more people on one place less chance for low level players...

@Danikat - this is why I pick an easy delve to do for tickets (this year Silumm in Glenumbra), 'cause even if you don't get there fast enough to get in on one spawn of the boss, usually he respawns pretty quickly, and you can get enough damage on him to get the skull. The most players I saw in Silumm on any of the four days I was in there was three. Then again, I only needed ten tickets, so it wasn't going to be a real issue for me anyway....

It happens on my low CP PC account sometimes, or on my max CP XBox account if I’m at an Alikir dolmen and on an alt in very underleveled gear (especially if a previously killed boss is making targeting difficult, I’m looking at you, thong-wearing behemoths). So I don’t miss a ticket/golden noggin, I make sure I never do one of those as my first dolmen during the event. I usually go for a dragon if I have the time for my first boss kill, if not, a mini-rift near a wayshrine to ensure I get my tickets.

Not always. I forget when the limit was originally added. Back at launch you'd see swarms of bots sync snuffing delve bosses with one of the basic class spammables. A boss would spawn in and get hit by +20 Surprise Attacks and drop instantly.

I'm not 100% sure if the loot limit was instituted to counter that practice, or if it came in later to deal with something else.

I think it might have been added with Imperial City, but I'm honestly not certain, and I'd need to dig through old patch notes to find it, so I'll settle for, "not always."

For most bosses loot is capped to the top 12 damage dealers. If there are multiple adds or even multiple bosses, you do not need to spread damage around evenly. There will be one that drops the loot, and that's the one you need to damage. It may take a few fights to figure out which one.

My tip if you're at a crowded anchor, save your Ult for the boss phase. In places like Alik'r, many of the players are grinding exp during the event, so you can leap frog the dps rank on the boss by timing an ult while others are just tagging for xp credit.

In order to get loot and XP credit for killing a mob, you now only need to deal 3% of its maximum health instead of the previous 10%.
