I'm really bummed now. Upgraded my pc and the 'fps drop over time' is still there :(

    Current rig:
    Ryzen R7 3700X
    16GB Ram DDR4 3200
    GTX1070
    Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB
    Windows 10 1903

oh wow i didnt expect this, i upgraded to 3900X and my issue was solved. What all did you change in your system? along with the cpu I got a new mobo, new nvme ssd, fresh install of windows, new ram. Same video card, same power supply.

    I just changed the CPU/Mobo/RAM.

I'd hate to suggest this, but maybe try a fresh install of windows? I doubt it would fix it, but worth a shot.

Riding through Alikr, getting a nice max framerate then middle of the desert, the loading screen appears.
When I come back I am in the same spot, and now my framerate is down by thirty.

    Love it....

They need to fix this, or i will never play ESO again.

This issue right now seems to be especially problematic in specific instances. Sunspire is especially bad with framerates dropping by 60-70% in a bit over an hour inside of the instance. Hopefully it's fixed next patch.

    @Kode No addons here.

    @Zer0oo Just PvE.

    My specs:
    i5 4570
    8GB Ram
    GTX 1070

8GB RAM is too low especially the moment to start putting addons, let alone start rendering at 4K. Windows alone with discord and a browser needs 3.1-3.7GB these days.
Also the CPU is ancient by today's standards also, because is a 6 years old 4 core 4 thread with 3.6Ghz boost clock.

Also a lot of addons have memory leaks, not the game client.

I have Win 10 (week ago new, fresh, clear and - call it whatever you want - install), 16 GB RAM, GTX 1080 and Intel i7 6700k on FULL HD 144hz. And yet this game has hopeless performance. Frame rate jumps from 100 to 50. Yes if I set settings to lowest it is constant 100 but this is not the point right? The optimization is a pure crap and all those "performance guides" etc are worth nothing without ZO$' work at this damned engine.
    I don't use ANY addons.

they are supposed to do something with memory

    Q4 2019: UPDATE 24
    Memory management overhaul
Fundamental changes to how we handle memory use in ESO to reduce memory fragmentation
User Experience: Greatly improved stability (i.e., less crashing / dashboarding), especially on base consoles, as well as potential minor performance improvement

    Maybe this will fix it.

if it hasnt been fixed in 5 years I doubt it will be fixed next patch.

Good to know that all of you pc players are doing just fine and dandy, consoles on the other hand are a decaying mess.

Whats that??? your PC jumps from 100fps to 50!?? OH MY HOW TERRIBLE.

Try crying when it drops to 5 fps like in console.

For me in actions where i had 80fps on high video i setting nowdays i get 15fps on medium settings. And it indeed frustrating to play game when it feels to only degrading overtime.

When you are used to stable 100fps on 144hz monitor, then 50 fps are a catastrophy. Espacially when the game's graphic is too ugly to make problems with your rig.

Looks like we have to wait till Q2 2020 to see a proper frame rate improvement...

The funny thing is that the i started to get the Stutters right after the "Performance improvement patch" that came with Dragonhold, which was supposed to bring memmory optimization. now my 3000$ PC is stuttering in ESO after 1 hour of playtime.

the latest performance update 25 does not fix this issue, if the zone is very populated the fps will still deteriorate over time from 100fps and drop below 60 fps and stay there until relog. I noticed during the murkmire event. So it has not been fixed, heres hoping update 26 gives the proper fix.

It was kinda fixed before last patch, at least with some situations like lengthy trials but after all the "fixes" it seems like going back to relogging after each hour.

I'm not sure if it's related, but issues that I've had consistently are:
    • While riding (w/rapids) I'll snap back 10-15 meters along my path, dismounted of course. (pvp or pve)
    • When engaged in something challenging (vma for example), I will start to experience more and more lag between my key press and actions going off. Sometimes as much as a couple seconds of lag.
    • Random disconnects. Like when looking in the bank, going through menus. Also during resetting and reallocating attributes/skills/CP's.
This seems to happen at any time. Even when I am in areas where there are few or no other players. Even at off peak times such as 1:30-2:00 am.

I tested another game (Paladins) with my brother and there doesn't seem to be any performance issues like this in that game. I just mention this to say that it rules out connectivity issues as far as I can tell.

Still, ESO is the best mmo for my money. When it's working, it is something special (as far as games go).

    I'm running an intel i7 8086K with 16gb of 3600mhz memory, GTX 1080 TI and a 1tb m.2 drive, 2x 144Hz 1080p gaming monitors from asus with G-sync enabled.

I'm running ESO on the lowest possible settings, and get a stable 144 fps in the overworld, 100+ even in cities.

If I however run around in certain parts of imperial city, or partake in a battle in cyrodil, doesn't even need to be a big battle, I can drop all the way down to 20-30 FPS, and the game will feel clunky even after the fights are over, and the 50fps it states is showing really feel like 10-20 fps.

All the time while it's lagging, ESO is maybe using 30% of all available resources, and temps are all sub 50C.

It's amazing a game this old runs so crappy, and has to be set to the lowest possible settings, while when playing newer and heavier games run without any issues.

It is seriously affecting my enjoyment of the game.
