Magicka Scorcerer Sets

I have currently: Slimecraw (head and shoulders - which may change following next patch), x5 Necropotence on body, Mother's Sorrow jewellery and front-bar staff, Crushing Wall back-bar staff.

All other things being equal, would I get more dps replacing Necropotence with Julianos (which I can craft)? And if so, would it be better to have Julianos on the body (leaving all the Mother's Sorrow items alone, or the other way around. Thoughts/advice appreciated.

Generally your weapon bar should be a 5 piece “proc” set, that way the 5 piece bonus isn’t wasted on your backbar. Examples would include master architect, sirorias, moondancers, or even false god’s if you don’t have large sustain issues. Between mother’s sorrow and julianos I would say have mother’s sorrow on body (since its better for sorcs to crit and its better damage) and use julianos on jewelry and weapon so you can craft the bloodthirsty jewelry trait instead of needing to transmute

Bloodthirsty is not worth it unless you are using gold jewelry, on purple it is debatable, but blue it is crap. So crafting a set just for the trait is meh.

Necropotence is not that bad of a set, and as long as you are high CP (cause crit damage CP) mother's sorrow is pretty much optimal. For non trial sets ms+necropotence is not "that bad" and changing sets will not magically boost your damage a lot ( I would try changing necropotence to julianos or Magus probably though, depending on your sustain)

My general rule for all things PvE is basically:

    keep-calm-and-listen-to-zvavi.jpg

But my non-pet magSorc uses Scathing Mage, Siroria, and 2-piece Spell Critical head and shoulder. I have no real insights into the petSorc world, however.

My pet sorc is still rocking maw, necropotence, and crafty alfiqi. I made some adjustments post-patch though, switching to the apprentice mundus (more spell damage instead of max magika) and infused jewelry pieces. Has ~ 47% crit chance, so unless I switch to a set like mother's sorrow or medusa, shadow would be a waste. Still has ~ 50K magika and can burn through anything.

He's not "optimized" but he is perfectly fine for what I use him for, which is basically doing content while undermanned.
