The new group queue BGs should be Deathmatch only

Realistically, what grouped players actually want to play a mode other than Deathmatch? If the queue is random selection, every mode other than DM will be treated like DM anyway.

It's quite the opposite. You can't develop and adapt strategies in let's say Capture the Relic mode if it's solo only. And just for that reason, CTR usualy turned into Deathmatch in solo mode.

how about being able to choose the gamemode instead of a bad compromise that nobody will be happy with?

The problem with this is that you're more likely to get entire queues with less than 12 players.

Also, DM is the worst BG mode, if it were the only option I would probably stop playing PvP entirely.

    ^This.^

The queue is already being fragmented into two (2) with solo queue and group queue ... which is already going to create longer queue times.

Splitting it further by letting players select a game mode will make it several times slower than that.

so no different from now with the average bg queue time being 20+ minutes and at most 10 players at the start of the game? when it doesn't just die and everyone sits in queue for literally 2 hours? (happened yesterday and the day before, and last week as well)

also you're probably even less likely to have bg's with less than 12 players as most premades (at least for DM) will be 4 players groups

and your 2nd point is entirely subjective. do you think any of the dm players want to play garb objective mods with 8 tanks and 3 sorcs that streak away to the other side of the map at the slightest sight of an enemy player?

Speak only for yourself, not for others pls. For me and most of my friends, deathmatch is the most boring and dumb game mode of all. Therefore, I am thankful that now all the more intelligent games modes have an equal chance to come.

Last night I was on a 4v3v2 match. Can't wait to see how it goes when this queue split gets to live servers...

Nothing stops You and Your group from playing every BG like it's a deathmatch.

Agreed! Deathwwatch has always been least interesting to me (just my personal preference). I miss being able to queue with a friend both because it was more fun and I’m still such a PvP newb I get confused what I’m supposed to do in some of the BG’s still.

Just look at the leaderboards to see that by far, Deathmatch is the most popular game mode.

To be honest I would have rather just voted to have individual queues. The queues wouldn't be split that bad if we got to pick what gamemode we want cause the majority of players will play deathmatch, and the community that likes Flag and Relic can still play those with other people who like the game mode too. In reality you're just forcing the majority to play a gamemode that not many people like.

The only queue that would have 12 people in it would be Flag and Relic. Forcing Flag and Relic on people wont make anyone like it any better.

Better yet how about they let us vote on what gamemode/map we want before the match starts? GW2 battlegrounds let's you vote on a map, I don't see why we can't do that with the gamemode. It would solve the problem right there.

You're not wrong, but keep in mind it's very uncommon to score over 4k in objectives - almost impossible in most games of Relic and Chaosball among competitive players. The match will end before anybody gets to 4k - a perfect 50 tick game of Chaosball and 5 run Relic game only nets like 3.5k typically. Also on most days the DM Queue will pop long before the Land / Flag Queues will pop, so those in the DM Queue are playing more rounds than those in the Land / Flag Queue - granted this is further testament to how DM is more popular.

For now I'll happily take any solution which doesn't involve hitting "accept" 50 times like it used to be, and which puts 4 members on all teams, all with visible health bars. Everything else is secondary to those concerns for me.

I didn't think about the score like that. Good point.

Make it a choice like it was before, test random queue people in each queue to speed up queue time, done.

My guess is there are three kinds of people:
    - those who will play anything
    - those who will play anything but Deathmatch
    - those who will only play Deathmatch

With any luck you can have four queues (group/solo * deathmatch/land&relic) without splitting up the population too much.

Part of what people aren't really talking about here when it comes to queues and population is if you have a 20% chance to queue for the mode that interests you you're probably not going to queue at all, so if Deathmatch truly is the most popular mode you're going to wind up with a lot of 4v3v2 regardless because people will switch to Cyro or something.

One thing you could do is rank the modes when you queue, then once the group is formed the game picks the mode based on rank choice voting rules. At least people who want to play whatever the popular game mode is will have a good chance of winding up in that mode.

They should simply rework the other game modes to make them less boring. You can't have that many flags with so few players, it basically rewards running away from fights in a PvP enviroment, is bad game design.

If they reduce the amount of flags so people is forced to fight on them, it would be A LOT better. Relic and chaosball can be very fun in the right situation, i would argue that when the 3 teams are balanced, relic and chaosball are more fun than play than old DM when every team is just trying to grab cheap kills by flanking the other teams fighthing. Chaosball with balanced teams is probably the most fun you can get in a BG.
