I’m not the richest but I have 2.2 mil that I have no idea what to do with so for all the people with multi millions what is the point of obtaining that much gold?

I use mine to get things I really don't want to spend a lot of time farming for.

The monster mask style pages for example. I don't want to run Bloodroot Forge dozens of time to try and get the new Earthgore Helm Style page.

For those that enjoy doing it, who will do it to make gold themselves, I'll happily pay for them to farm it, and to just buy it from the guild stores, so they can get their gold, and I save myself that time.
The Unshattered - Tenacious Dreamer - Hurricane Herald - Xalvakka's Scourge - Godslayer - Dawnbringer - Gryphon Heart - Tick Tock Tormenter - Immortal Redeemer - Dro-m'Athra Destroyer
The Unchained - The Brilliant - Moth Trusted - The Just - Oathsworn - Bedlam's Disciple - Temporal Tempest - Curator's Champion - Fist of Tava - Invader's Bane - Land, Air, and Sea Supremacy - Zero Regrets - Battlespire's Best - Bastion Breaker - Ardent Bibliophile - Subterranean Smasher - Bane of Thorns - True Genius - In Defiance of Death - No Rest for the Wicked - Nature's Wrath - Undying Endurance - Relentless Raider - Depths Defier - Apex Predator - Pure Lunacy - Mountain God - Leave No Bone Unbroken - CoS/RoM/BF/FH Challenger

Completely agree here. I use my gold for the conveniences. If I want something, or a friend/guildie want something, it's almost always attainable and I have no issues paying someone else to farm it up.

I hoard most of my gold, but what I do budget to spend is spent on good deals, potential flips, housing, or friends/guildies.

The new gear collection system, where you can reconstruct gear in your collection for transmute stones.

So I can get rid of those old sets of Netch's Touch I've been hanging onto with the faint suspicion that it'll become the meta as soon as I delete them, and then reconstruct them if they ever do come back in style.

I don’t like bringing this up much since I think it is rude to flex on others, but after years of this game I have accumulated well over 100k gold.

Edit: and that’s just on my main character, I also have an alt with upwards of 15k too.

Earlier this week I had finally saved 10million, was debating which house(s) I would buy to finish my collection of the gold-purchased homes.

When the event bundle was released I realized purple furnishing plans were going to jump in price, so i spent 6 million and almost finished the Solitude collection.

Having a large bank account makes fun stuff possible. Of course, now I won’t be able to buy anything for another 6 months or so. xD

    I don't think it qualifies.
People with this sort of gold amount (I'm one of them) will be probably be the richest players in their respective social guilds, but will be considered "low average" in any half way serious trading guild.
This is plenty enough to do whatever you want and beyond ingame, though :-)

While it would be an interesting idea... I dont think that you will be able to pull it off. With how competitive guild traders are how much a guild has in their war chest is as closely a guarded secret as you can get. You can estimate how much a trader is worth.. but you would be lucky to get how much a guild has from them.

As for guild traders being “hacked” or whatever... no, but they have to be getting manipulated some how, at least on ps4. Lots of guilds who normally have traders haven’t been able to obtain them lately for some reason and keep losing out to guilds no ones heard of. When you look in their traders they have nothing of value. So it brings into question how are they out bidding known trade guilds?

Lastly, a question, what’s the gold cap? I assumed from watching pts streams that it’s 999,999,999 but someone shared an image via Facebook of a player with 7 billion gold. How is that even possible?

So if I'm the richest player in the game but I don't provide a video then I'm not the richest player in the game even when I am?

I mean, what if I don't provide proof? I'm forced to provide a video (so my in-game info made public) or the community will think (erroneously) that other 5 players are richer than me?

I’m not the richest but I have 2.2 mil that I have no idea what to do with so for all the people with multi millions what is the point of obtaining that much gold?

    That makes sense.....

Granted, I would never come close to such a number, but I always have ideas of what to do....right now I have some types of furniture that I would love to learn "more of the plans for" (Telvanni lighting fixtures for one) and even when I can find them, I can't always afford them.

I do regularly donate to my guilds; and maybe they don't "need" the money; but in the case of 3 guilds who do bid on traders, I suspect it comes in handy or at least slightly useful.

I prefer to purchase houses (or whatever) with in-game gold rather than crowns, and frankly I don't trust scammers. Heck if I was going to try and "buy" in-game currency, it would be gems (because there is a cool green winged moth I would like for a pet) but...

1-I don't trust not to be scammed

2-There doesn't seem to be any way to gift or otherwise trade gems/gem items (I've tried gifting a gem thing from one of my accounts to another - it was not enabled/possible).

Occasionally I would like to afford some of the really cool dropped sets in traits that I would like (and I have a total weakness for the "named pieces" even if they would have to be trait-transmuted); but mostly I just get what I can, and upgrade or change traits when I can.

I would so like to have two more entire sets of Darloc Brae (one with magicka weapons, one with stamina) but I can't even imagine how much that would cost to buy - and I'm not having the best luck with farming....so it's a work in progress.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Some of these same people also consistently buy crowns at a steep discount, in guild chat; 100:1 when PC/NA is at 200:1.

I just don't know HOW they're doing that, or WHO would sell at such a steep discount. When crowns were 200 per, I asked everywhere if anyone was willing to sell for 180 per, and heard only crickets. But 100 per? What would even be the benefit to the crown seller in that transaction?

Would definitely spend a lot more at 100 per, need to find some of these people 😮

That's the going rate on PS4/NA

Craziness. I've seen a few sellers at 110-140, but few and far between (PCNA). Was sitting ~150 per for awhile, but with the new crates and such, it's sitting steady at 200-250 per now. Many, many millions spent :P
Gold are more expensive on consoles. At lest for PC gold is also more expensive in EU. First is probably that PC has mods who make farming gold or trading easier.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

40k daily easy on 8 toons just doing daily writs which take 10-20 mins

    it's 600 gold per quest. 7 quests = 4200 gold. 8 chars = 33600, where is 40k from?
and it's not entirely 10-20 mins. Your materials will end at some point and you have to go use the surveys which take hours.

You get a lot of gold mats from writs and the character limit is 18 characters so during Anniversary event, I get 75k+ per day plus gold mats so the cost of mats is more than covered.

It's still roughly 40k because you occasionally get gold tempers and stuff which worth has to be added to the normal payout. The 10-20 minutes figure though is void - I guess he has never really done it - it takes more than an hour to get it done.

I do daily writs on 12 characters, it takes me roughly 40 minutes, but I don't rush or use all the time savers in the addon so it can be done in 30 minutes if I wanted to. 8 toons in 20 minutes is very realistic, it will boil down to how long the load screens take. Without addons it does take far longer.

Indeed, I'm not using any add-ons - it takes me nearly 2 hours for 16 characters. But that includes as well emptying all the gift boxes and list stuff, which I want to sell, in the guild store, paying for training of my mounts in stables and such - so it isn't purely crafting writs. And as well buying trait items, which my characters need for research, setting up the research and so.

if you are on pc, get lazy writ crafter addon.

what you really want to do is look at what Peoples Net Worth is, and then look at their liquidity and long term assets. Also you would have to find a way to value items such as achievements and collectibles to find true value.

in short i don't think your going to get an honest answer.

hard to get a net worth as most dont track what they paid for something
