Maintenance for the week of April 6:

Please, make the item set collection retroactive somehow!!!

I mean, I know it's impossible to do it from months or weeks ago, but at least you could try to make the collection retroactive "since monday 5th", for example.

Many people, like me, are hoarding everything they can these days for being prepared, but I already have almost all my characters, bank and chests full of gear I'll never use.

Please?

Not gonna happen but I feel your pain: I cleared out my bank just before this feature was announced. Poop happens.

Keep the weapons and jewellery, armor is not that hard to farm, especially for the collection, where trait or quality doesn't matter

Wait... So for the sets to go into collections you have to find/grind them all over again??? There was me stupidly thinking that stuff you already own would go there.

What's the point in this apart from a QOL for brand new players?

I think a lot of us are going to be hoarding almost everything in anticipation!

Some of my characters are already almost unplayable because of their bulging inventory. Even worse, I'm not testing out any new builds because I'm anticipating how much easier it will be to gear-up next patch. Hype over the new item set collection has ruined this patch for me (and I love it!).

Some tips for short term storage

Obviously if you have a free character slot, make a 'mule'.

Mail it to a player who hasn't played in years - you'll get it all back in 30 days.

List it on guild traders for obscene prices, if someone buys it then you've made a fortune.

Develop a system to identify 'duplicates' - I used to keep the best few traits, but no need to keep the same item in multiple traits now!

Finally. The base game only costs a few pound right now, so if you are really struggling for storage pay the money, make an account of mules. If you play eso long term you will find another use for your spare account eventually.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

@red_emu the stuff you have in your inventory / bank is going into the collection. you have to log on with each character to get it recognized after the patch.
some people, like OP, feel the urge thereof, to start the missing parts now, so thats why they ask for it to be retroactive

Is it not only getting added to collection upon binding the item to the account/character? Which would mean that all the gear sitting in my bank, that is already "bound" won't get added?

A new way to manage Item Set pieces! No more storing hundreds and hundreds of Item Set pieces on bank alts. Once an Item Set piece has been collected, Transmute Stations will allow you to reconstruct an infinite amount of copies of that piece for only a small Transmute Crystal cost.

    The “Sticker Book”
Under the Collections menu, you’ll find a new tab called “Sets” that categorizes all the dropped Item Sets in the game. By acquiring and binding an Item Set piece to your character, you will unlock the “sticker” of that slot.
As you collect more pieces, the progress bars will slowly increase and the Transmute Crystal cost to reconstruct them will decrease, encouraging you to collect all the pieces of each Item Set.
The first time you log in to each of your characters, it will automatically detect all bound Item Set pieces they are holding and add them to the sticker book. Be sure to log in with every one of your characters that is holding Item Sets!
Keep in mind this new sticker book is not storage – you are free to do whatever you wish with the original item, such as selling to a vendor or deconstructing it. You also don’t need to worry about the item’s trait or quality, since you can choose those when you reconstruct it.

quote from the patchnotes. so all gear that is allready bound is going to be added. hope that clarifies

    edit:
but yeah it requires you to take it out of the bank and into your inventory as i read it a second time, nontheless, there should be no reason to farm allready owned and bound gear currently in your inventory/bank

Thank for clearing this up. I guess I must have skimmed over that part 😊

Right before this was announced, I almost deconned a bunch of Arena weapons that aren't perfected because I will eventually replace them with perfected ones. I guess I want to reminisce on my original grind, so I'll save them for the book.

If this could happen I'd decon everything I own right now and finally have storage space again. Instead I have 6 storage containers, a bank, and 8 characters all holding gear :/

I just wanted to clear up the confusion. When I first logged onto the test server everything that was already bound in my bank and storage chests was automatically added to the collection. I didn't have to remove it. You need to log onto your alts for the gear in their personal bags to be added. Other than that the only thing you'll need to add manually is anything you have that is not already bound.

That's an interesting way to put it. Nobody forces you to farm, quite the opposite: you are given a way to farm less and also use some of the trash items to cheapen that shortcut.

It's not like someone snaps their fingers and feature magically appears on live servers. There must be a patch for it anyway. Also I would be angry and disappointed if they started to release stuff without testing. Just look up what bugs there were already found.

That's never stopped them before, honestly.
