Greymoor furnishing recipes are too exorbidant !

Even during the event almost all the purple items barring the tents are about 150k upwards. That's like an entire dlc per furnishing. I'm not able to understand why. I guess it's an investment . Maybe if you can sell 50 of them to break even . But wow . I caved and bought a recipe for 200k(solitude noble double bed). I hope it's worth it someday .

My question is are the orices artificially inflated to be this absurd for mindless capitalistic greed, or is there some higher logic behind it ?

Oh and I play on the PS4 so there's no question about secret shortcut extensions and apps to just figure out my life for me :(

Prices were already much lower than that before the event started for Solitude plans - and are MUCH cheaper now - especially since drop rates are really high. Shop around a bit more and you will snap-up cheap deals!

Vampire stuff is still holding quite a bit of value, though.

Give it a year or two...things will settle down. It's always the most recent stuff that's uber-spendy.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.

So, plans are always the most expensive when they are first released. Prices continue to drop, through the Frunishers Documents being released at Rollis Hlaalu.

The most cost efficent way to obtrain furniture plans is to buy greens/blues once they have dropped to a level you can afford, and then get most of your purples from the Furnishers Documents, buying them once you're down to needing 10 or fewer.

Be careful though, once the region is older than a year (or in the case of Base Game, no one really farms patterns to sell there) plans will rise in value, due to scarcity.

If you want to collect all the furnishing plans, it is very expensive to do so, without carefully watching the market. And even then... the 3 Ayleid purples I'm missing are over 5 MILLION each, if you can find them for sale at all.

I'm about 40 purple Solitude plans and 15 purple vampiric plans away from knowing them all. The Solitude purples (the original ones, not the ones added to the daily rewards) used to be 300k+ each, because the droprate was an absolute crapshow.

At least with this event more people are in Soli to farm, and at least the older purples have a chance from dropping from the gold reward boxes! That's brought prices down to more reasonable/affordable levels than they were before, but I still couldn't buy all the ones I'm missing even if they were all only 100k each.

Not true. I just put up a tent (purple/open) at 9800 gold.
Prices have gone down drastically. It's the same each new chapter event....you must sell at the very beginning.

Prices have gone down a whole bunch with the event. I’m glad I got some duplicates when they first came out, particularly on my new PC account. Selling a few of those blue and purple plans at market price gave me a nice bit of gold for bank upgrades and such.

Prices will plummet next year when they go up for sale on the master writ merchant. I really wish they'd go on sale the same year as the chapter release, though. I get that they want to encourage engaging with the chapter, but that's a significant delay for those of us who work the writ system instead of the gold system.

Yeah, see the things is, that those things are still new. Supply is tied to how much people are willing to farm and demand is high. (So happy I don't give a rats ass about most of those Solitude purples...) The event pushes the supply up, so prices have gone down, but demand is still really high. After the event, the prices will go back up as the supply drains down, especially when most people dedicated to farming them go hunt those Markarth Dwemer things.

We've seen this pattern before and there's nothing unusual about it. The prices will stay high until envelopes are made available for writ vouchers, at which point you can buy most of them for 20-30k. Some will retain higher desirability and will still fetch 60-100k depending on just how "cool" the player base considers them to be.

If vamp stuff is gonna be included with Solitude envelopes their prices will plummet too. If they get their minor envelope deal à la Clockwork stuff, then... Well their prices will go down, but by what degree, is hard to say. Since I think lot of people are more hesitant to buy envelopes that have an extra RNG element to them. Though given how hard they are to get right now, once envelopes hit the market, people will buy them in bonkers quantites and the market prices will utterly crash. Once most have gotten theirs, their price will stabilize at a somewhat higher level, but it is impossible to predict where that will be at this point.

Redguard stuff has always been considered "desirable" by the community, thus they have always fetched much higher prices than other types. There are also lot of them, and there is a much higher proportion of "desirable" plans in the mix than there is with other styles.

Things are further exasperated by the fact, that most people do not farm base game areas like they do the more recent chapter and dlc zones. And buying base game styles envelopes is a bit of a crap shoot. Sure you might get a "Diagram: Redguard Censer, Hanging Horn" that you can sell for 250k, but you might also get a "Design: Wood Elf Bone Chimes" and you'll be lucky if you get 1k for that one.

Back when people were still farming base game stuff, and buying base game envelopes, I bought most of the Redgaurd purples I failed to get in my own envelopes for 50k a pop. But that was then, and supply was much higher in those days.

That is a totally different case - Murkmire greens have always been notoriously difficult to get due to botched up zone dynamics. In fact a thread about that topic popped up earlier today, go read that if you want any insight to why they are still silly expensive.

Typically there is more money in selling the raw plans than crafting the furniture to sell.

I don't need insight, as I've made millions selling Murkmire greens. But thanks for the link.

I meant like the Summerset ones; as that was a chapter, not a DLC.

However you are correct; there don't seem to be enough peeps interested in playing (or farming) Murkmire, so most of those plans remain pretty spendy.

Before the Summerset event, some green and most blue furnishing plans were selling for more than the purples. I'm not a fan of the artificial scarcity created by the writ voucher envelope program, as it skews the prices. As stand alone zones get left behind, it's only natural that the things people no longer farm will become less available than those that can be bought from Rolis and his assistant. So prices on greens will continue to rise, unless there is another method of obtaining them introduced.

Have you ever farmed Murkmire for plans? It's atrocious. The easiest "search" collection of containers is Cyrodillic's Collections building. There are no "urns" anywhere, nothing to search except food barrels and crates in delves. The only way to get plans is by thieving in houses, and that's a lot of work for maybe 4 containers to search per house, some homes only have 1-2 containers. There aren't a lot of houses. I never found a plan in a lockbox.

You can park toons in Xal-ithix(?) quest area for searchable containers, but you have to fight through the Blackguards there, and honestly, not even as many containers as Darkpool mine in Elsweyr.

Edit: I never knew you could get inside the Dominus Fatum until today! Nice.

Yeah..was wandering around in murkmire today, and the few plans I found - none were actually argonian....I'll try thieving in houses.

    Thanks for the info.

I was alternating that with Dwemer lairs, and ... basically not much (altho did find a couple of dwemer motifs and a pile of scrap, so that's something).

    short version: yes it's capitalism.
not-as-short version: yes, it stems from supply and demand, and the value people personally attach to items.

explanatory version: New Item Hype™, as I like to call it, is a prevalent trend that happens in ESO (and surely other MMOs, but they're not relevant here) any time new content is released. The "me here now" culture has generated the desire everyone has to want to be "the first" to get something, to complete something, etc. And like any new item, demand heavily outstrips supply in the first month or so, which enables some of the more opportunistic people to sell these items at a hefty premium.

For the more frugal minded of us, this is a great time to unload the items, turn a hefty profit, and then go back a few weeks later when prices have become more reasonable. (Flashback for example: New Moon Priest motifs sold for 100k when they first dropped. 3 weeks later, they're at 5k, and these days you're lucky to get that much). Similarly, I farmed Icereach like crazy when the new motifs came out. I sold four pages, and used that money a few weeks later to buy up the ones I didn't have, while also walking away with an extra 40k in my pocket, give or take.

of course, the notion of price-gouging new items can be seen as controversial. I once had someone block me after I admitted to being one of the vast majority of sellers in the game who do, but again, it's just supply and demand. When demand is high and supply is low, people will pay higher prices for an item. And if they don't want to wait for prices to become more reasonable, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Shortly after the formation of the Ebonheart Pact, a Nord woman was given a tour of the Tribunal Temple. When later asked about the experience, she seemed upset. Suffice to say, the Dunmer were not pleased to hear this, and thus they inquired further.
"Well," the Nord frowned, "the priests were very angry and unwelcoming. They kept shouting things at me like "you can't drink that mead in here!" and "somebody stop her, she's running naked!" and "we can't catch her; she's covered in grease!""

That's interesting, because a large percentage of green plans I get in Murkmire actually have "Argonian" in the name. But they are not rare, as they are common in other zones as well.
