I mainly play ps4 and when occationally i go for a random group in a dungeon, i never ever ever ever pay any attention to what the other players are doing. Maybe i notice if the tank doesn't taunt or healer doesn't heal. Nothing else. I don't even look at what classes they are or what they are wearing. Or what race they are or are they male or female characters. And i forget their user names too. At least with me you would be safe :)

Hello OP! I understand where you are coming from. Life tends to be full of judgy people. I should know - I work in customer service. When I log in to ESO, I expect a decompression from life (i.e. difficult coworkers, bosses, customers, etc.).

I tried the whole dungeon/raid grind in other games so I'm familiar with that whole social dynamic. After a time, I got fed up. Nowadays, if a guild I join requires me to log in like I'm punching a time clock, satisfy a DPS level, and run content a number of hours per week - I quit because it's not for me. Felt too much like that thing I'm decompressing from.

The great thing about MMO's nowadays is they offer a variety of activities to satisfy a variety of player types. I tend to do the open-world activities because they're so easy to dip into without any formal organization. I've never witnessed any judgementalism. I've been playing ESO since release so that's saying something!

I've gotten lucky and joined a few good social guilds. The requirements are very relaxed and the people are generally friendly and not judgemental. Maybe, OP you can find, for yourself, a similar situation.

A game's primary purpose is to thrill you, OP. Don't fall down that rabbit hole of letting others make you feel otherwise. Be true to yourself and what you need from this game.

In conclusion, a quote from Frank Herbert - a very wise person:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

My actual point of this whole discussion was if I need to worry about DPS because I hate it when people are around me and attack the same stuff as me when I can do everything alone and I don't need anyone's "help". .

some ppl have things to do in the game also, if you expect everyone to judge you then you will only ever see ppl that judge you.

I can even solo dungeons when being drunk just fine.
I'm very anxious and paranoid that everyone will judge me by closely observing everything I do and that I can't just one shot the highest tier (I think it was a orange border on the health bar) bosses like everyone else rushing through content.
I don't want to rush, I actually want to enjoy this game, but it's very hard due to those toxic people judging me.
Sure, they don't say anything but I'm 100% sure everyone is silently judging me behind their screen.

Trust me, unless you're in a trial or maybe a vet dungeon no one is going to be paying attention to your DPS. Anxiety I understand all too well. Mostly I play solo but I do find the occasional team-up is fun.

As for them helping when you don't need it, some might assist you to kill something but it doesn't mean they think you can't do it alone. Players in this game often join in to kill stuff just because they're there. Maybe too they need whatever it is for a quest, or they want what it drops.

Honestly it seems like you are the one judging yourself harshly, not others. When others come along out in the open world, in delves, in public dungeons, instead of getting worked up about it why not try to just roll with it? Teaming up can be enjoyable too! Besides, how else are you going to get those world bosses and Harrowstorms?

Just a point. You can join a guild and still be solo

I'm in 2 guilds but only because I need them to be able to sell stuff. And there is the benefit of the Mundus stones. Nobody bothers me and I don't bother them.

To be honest....no one is going to judge you. They simply do not care enough. The worst that can happen is they think to themselves "oh, that person has low DPS", but since it won't affect them they aren't truly going to care or judge you....and more importantly, why do you even care what they think of you?

Let's not pretend toxic players did not cause this dude's anxiety. Stop pretending this is some myth he conjured up. There are plenty of toxic players in all MMOs, ESO is not immune.

Nah eso is super solo friendly. Also very casual friendly as in you can get away with a lot of things.

My question though are you using food? Also advice is 16k to 18k health is normal for content.

I'm actaully 100% solo in this game as I still couldn't find like minded people and i#m paranoid and anxoious about everyone else around me silently judging me.
Your fear of being judged probably pushes you to play solo. You're probably judging yourself too.

Nobody knows what you are really up to in this game, all people can do is speculate. Just try to have fun without worrying about what others will say. If you feel like partying up, that's fine; if not, that's also fine.

You can solo alot of things in this game. Get used to doing delves, once you can do those do public dungeons. The first couple of times you do a public dungeon, it'll be pretty hairy; but once you get used to how they work you'll find you can solo all of them, even the 'group' bosses. Once you are comfortable with that, try some of the starting zone world bosses. Or jump in if someone's already fighting one. Maybe solo some dolmens in between those two; outside of Alkir Desert and Bankorai, most Dolmens are pretty empty most of the time. Some worldbosses are easier to solo than others, if you wipe in seconds just move to another one. Then move to the Maelstrom Arena. After you do that, you'll probably be able to solo some of the early group dungeons (Fungal Grotto 1, Wayrest Sewers I, etc.).

One of the keys to solo'ing, in my opinion, is having some way to self heal. On my Warden I have lotus almost always up, and I have, well I call it mushrooms I dunno the real name at the moment, you know the one, on one of my bars. That way, even if you take a hit (and you'll take a hit) you can heal out of it fairly quickly.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

the first time I played this game I freaked out when I saw another player. It was my first online experience. I recommend walking up to random players and playing with emotes. It breaks the ice and gets you comfortable around others. A good social/housing guild is good because it's all about socializing, hanging out at people's houses and enjoying the light stuff in the game.

I am confused I did not judge you or mean anything bad. I was a solo player for almost six years and had bad experience with group content. Now I got into a new group build up of beginners that are growing while doing trials together with explanation about mechs etc. Everybody do what they want we just run a trial twice a week and can invite eachother for everything else we want to do together.

But if you are enjoying yourself and are capable of doing things why would you worry about what other people think of you? Because I can promise they will not think anything when they come across a solo player.

I did not assume you were a beginner in the game just in group content which I am myself.
Don't think that people are thinking nasty all the time we just want to help and maybe even offer you a place with like minded people if you want or even to ask ingame questions etc.

I hope you enjoy playing this game for many years to come
