The relationship between Perfect / Non-Perfect

The problem I see is vet players are going to have a gaping hole in some of their collections for non perfect gear in some content. I have no desire to farm normal maelstrom for example.

Is there plans to have it so that if you unlock a Perfected item, it will also unlock the Non-Perfected version (not vice versa obviously)?

The best system would be that Perfect/Non-Perfected items are compatible with one another but do not provide the Perfected bonus unless 5 piece requirement is met. That way, Perfected could simply override the Non-Perfected in the collection book. If that is too onerous, have it so that finding a Perfected also unlocks the Non-Perfected equivalent similar to how if you complete a Dungeon on Veteran you also get the Normal achievement.

They're two separate sets so I don't think they'll be tied to each other unless they are? If they are that is very annoying...

Yes they are treated as two different sets.

How would it be annoying that if you find the Perfected Maestrom Staff, you also get the Standard Maelstrom staff also unlock? I find it annoying that I may need to go into Normal MA just to complete my collection.

Ideally they should be compatible with eachother but not provide the Perfected bonus unless all 5 items are Perfected. Meaning if you have 3 False God items and 2 Perfected False God items, the result is False God 5 set bonus (not Perfected).

Lol why do you want non perfected if you already have perfected? For the sake of filling some gap in list? You would never use non perfected

to do this would let players wear half sets since the two are seen as different sets so that would let players who dont have full set of both mix an match not an good idea at all so NO DO NOT GIVE US THIS WAY AS OK as it brings the game down not up

Their logic is probably that we should farm normals with newer players to get full collections but it would just result in gaps for most.

There is no benefit in having non-perfect gear in your collection outside of some for-fun collector reasons. So if you want to fill your collection, do something for it.

There are many completionists out there.

For trials its prob not an issue as chests drop normal grade. It is mostly for arenas that don't drop normal at all on vet. I agree that nobody would ever have any need for Non-Perfect gear when they have access to Perfected, which is why it would simply be much cleaner if the Non-Perfect was overridden by the Perfected gear. To do that though, the items would have to have some sort of compatibility between the Non-Perfected / Perfected because if a Non-Perfect was overridden by a Perfect and it is not compatible with the other items you don't have in Perfect you won't be able to make a full set.

For me its less about collection but to remove the trash version of items I have from my list. If I want to reconstruct an item, and I have the Perfect and Non-Perfect version, I don't even want to see the Non-Perfect in case of a misclick, and, well, its unsightly. So it having half a collected set :p

I think if someone has collected the Perfect versions, they actually have done something for it. You get the Normal achievement for doing a Veteran Dungeon. Should the player have to also go back and run it on Normal to get the achievement? I'm simply envisioning future QOL.

For anyone that can run a vet arena/VAS (the only instances where this matters) they can certainly run a normal version of each in 10 to 15 minutes. It’s not difficult and considering that players spend hours to fish for master angler it also isn’t out of line to ask completionists to grind for what they want.

From a QoL and consistency point of view it should be linked together.

Whenever you you collect a perfected piece you get the normal one as well if you didnt have it already. It would make sense from a consistency point of view because Achievments work like this as well. It would also make sense from a QoL point of view for completionists.
